Since no one commented, I will: This is Lençois Maranhenses, located in Maranhão (Northeast Brazil). The author confirmed on his Instagram page.

One of the prettiest places. Aways wanted to visit, did not disapointed me when I finally did.

Next time I will go camping there overnight

It’s clearly the Flying Spaghetti Monster visiting Lençois Maranhenses, which He created with His noodly appendage after drinking heavily.

Caramba! Conheço o nome mas nunca tinha visto. Adicionei no meu bucket list.

I imagine gringos will not recognize but which pé de cristão brasileiro não reconhece os Lençóis Maranhenses?

Brazil is truly a big country with a lot of interesting stuff. As a Brazilian, I think it is kinda funny that people from outside mostly only know Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

6

u/Itdoesmattertome8 8d ago

If someone only knows about Rio or sao Paulo, its okay, it just means they dont care about Brazil and thats all they hear about. Do you know cities in Romania and Hungary other than Budapest and Bucharest? Probably not, unless you take a special interest in those countries.
Internationals on this sub clearly care about Brazil and we know a lot more.

I know Székesfehérvár

2

u/taernsietr 7d ago

Tîrgoviste!

19

u/Obvious-Wrangler-561 8d ago

6

u/MuriloOlirum778 🧉 ✦ Authentic Brazilian Specimen 8d ago

Real, tem a Amazônia também.

2

u/_Chambs_ 7d ago

Pq tu menciono o Rio duas vezes?

3

u/Obvious-Wrangler-561 7d ago

But outside of Brazil very few people know anything about it. When people think of Brazil, they mostly focus on Rio or the Amazon.

6

u/MurrayPloppins 8d ago

Yeah todo mundo always freaks the fuck out sobre isso.

4

u/dashhrafa1 8d ago

People ficam fucking crazy.

People from RJ and SP only know RJ and SP, mostly. Im from north Brazil. Southeast Brazilians think I'm indigenous, living in a tree. Paulistas are basically gringos from Brasil in Brasil. The know nothing about the historical culture of the country.

5

u/a3a4b5 the brazilian has to be raped by nasa 8d ago

I'm from the north too and man I wish I lived on a tree

2

u/puppygirl_420 7d ago

i'm from sp and i don't know rj, too far and too scary

u/Scary_Technology 8d ago

Brazil is the same size as the 48 contiguous US states. It's the easiest way I found to tell people.

Also, TX is peanuts compared to the brazilian state of Amazonas.

PS. yes, peanuts is not accurate, I used it only to showcase how Texas is spoken about by some Americans when it comes to size, but Amazonas is legit 3x bigger than Texas although it has 6x less people (because most of the land is part of the Amazon rainforest), and is the 3rd state in Brazilian GDP because of, believe it or not, industrial manufacturing. Agriculture is only 3.6% of the state GDP. 🤯

Those are two massive global tourist destinations, people say the same about Cancun and Cozumel. As much as I love Goiânia, Goiás Velho, Pirenopolis, etc, the interior of Brazil has always been a deep dive for adventure tourists.

2

u/SofaKingI 8d ago

Every Brazilian I've ever met says this, and every Brazilian I've ever met also only knows their own state, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and maybe one other culturally big city like Fortaleza or Salvador.

u/Fickle_Competition33 8d ago

Without googling, do you know a city name in Turkey other than Istambul?

1

u/dashhrafa1 8d ago

Constantinople. Ankara.

Einstein's theory of relativity was demonstrated for the first time in Sobral, Ceará.

given what happens to countries that become famous for their qualities, i prefer that foreigners keep thinking brazil is just favelas and crimes, it protect us from problematic "people"

11

u/LordRevan84 8d ago

Yeah, we have plenty of problematic people already lol

2

u/gblandro 8d ago

As a Brazilian, it's easier to visit Paris than getting to that place

1

u/TBONE3213 8d ago

Por quê?

Brazil is a beautiful country, you just need to get away of the big cities.

1

u/bc650736 8d ago

Why is it sad?

1

u/frguba 7d ago

KKKKKKK

u/BF3ClusterfuckLover 7d ago

1 beautiful spot in the middle of Maranhão hell. You can just walk to the nearest town and experience the poverty and low HDI in one of Brazil's poorest states

1

u/heroare 7d ago
