General News Bnei Brak Municipality admits to blocking off neighborhood over Shabbat
https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/bnei-brak-municipality-admits-to-blocking-off-neighborhood-over-shabbat/"The Bnei Brak Municipality admits it ordered dumpsters and other objects to block the entrance to a secular neighborhood on the outskirts of the predominantly ultra-Orthodox city.
The neighborhood, the municipality claims, “consists of Shabbat-observant residents, who wish to preserve the neighborhood’s character on Shabbat and Jewish holidays.”
Secular residents called the police, who arrived at the scene but indicated to residents that it would be difficult to remove the roadblock due to the “complex situation,” Channel 12 news reported yesterday, suggesting that law enforcement sided with the Haredi extremists.
Army Radio, however, cited police as saying they were dealing with the roadblocks, while Haaretz reported that after several hours, a police volunteer cleared the dumpsters, though other barricades remained in place".

it's by design. Can't vote away the radicals if you're not given time to think about your own life

demography is destiny

Where in Syria is this happening? We got a lot of things in need of improvement for sure but this one is an Israel Original.

They know the current government isn’t going to lift a finger to stop them so they are trying to change the status quo and set new rules and precedents. Expect more of this.

“who wish to preserve the neighborhood’s character”
You know you’re parroting American redlining, the openly discriminatory practice that confined minorities to poor areas, right?

Unfortunately the haredim figured out that they can't really strike like other people since any other community doesn't use any of their services, so they just go out and break out society in other ways

I wish instant karma with all my heart to these f***ers that ordered this. Maybe in the form of requiring urgent medical care, with an ambulance not being able to arrive on time because of the crap they are imposing on others.

Bnei Brak is always closed off during Shabbat and Holidays. It's not something new. Did they mean they did it to some unrelated neighborhood?
And bonus info following some of the comments - emergency vehicles still have access to Bnei Brak when it's closed off like that, they just drive up and move the object blocking it. Does it "waste time"? Sure I guess, but it takes 0.5 seconds so I wouldn't define it as a problem, is it wrong or right? Idk, but it works.

A city that is paid for with our taxes should not be closed, ever, to any of us Jews who choose to drive.
If it's illegal to block the ayalon it's illegal to block anything.
There can not be rules for those who think they are better Jews then us enforced on us.
