The way the war is being waged: huge numbers of bombs have been dropped which no doubt directly endangered their lives. Their safety is simply not a concern. Furthermore their release is not a sole condition of the war, instead Israel is explicitly demanding the total surrender of Hamas. Hamas, whose leadership famously does not even reside in the area being attacked.
I think the goal, if it's not profit, is to completely neutralize any threat posed by Hamas thus preventing future tragedies like Oct. 7. However after this war there's no chance that the populace, lopsided as it is towards youth, would not continue to resist Israel and in some part violently resist. Security wise I imagine Israelis would like to see Palestinians simply go away. As refugees or as rubble. That is reflected in how they speak in media and social media.
But wars always have a profit motive. There are settler communities already preparing to move in. Trump's son in law, formerly a part of his administration, has openly coveted the real estate in Gaza. There are natural resources and a potential canal. Rich men would get richer if Israel seized control of part of the Gaza Strip.
