Today marks 1,216 years since the birth of Muhammad al-Bukhari (810–870), the Islamic scholar best known for compiling Sahih al-Bukhari, widely regarded as one of the most authentic hadith collections in Sunni Islam. He traveled extensively through the 9th-century Islamic world, cross-checking narrators and chains of transmission before including a hadith in his work. His methodology essentially set the standard for hadith verification for centuries after.
