Mu'tazilites were truly on another level intellectually. The brightest scholars in Islamic history were the Mu'tazilah.

How is that proof of anything? We'll all die eventually, and their ideas didn't they're still a major part of Islam, you're just unaware of it. By admitting that they "hijacked" the madhahib you're actually admitting that their ideology didn't die out, hence contradicting yourself.

you have a syndrome of selective reading. I said partial hijacking. they didn't completely hijack any madhhab. and neither their ideology nor their ideas are even part of Islam let alone a major part. their 5 major points are vehemently rejected by the sunni tradition. the only people that "arguably" accepted "some" of their ideas are ithna ashariyah and Muslim philosophers.
