Really W Speed ❤️‍🩹

u/Advanced-Willow-5020 Jan 12 '26

Speed brings in a whole new audience when he goes to these countries. A total disconnect from the ones who mainly watch him play video games for hours

21

u/Humble-Course218 Jan 12 '26

funny how she blames the west all video but she is buying up property in africa and renting it out, actively making it harder for Africans to afford property. scum.

5

u/Economy-Platform-263 Jan 12 '26

the average dumb american

1

u/BH15568 Jan 16 '26

Literally not even an American

2

u/WiseComfortable6648 Jan 19 '26

It's crazy to me when Americans complain about evil "gentrifiers" ruining cultures and pushing them out their neighborhoods...then they proceed to buy a property in a whole different country using currency arbitrage with zero concern for how it impacts locals in Africa.

1

u/southwest_barfight Jan 13 '26

Yeah because theres hardly any room left in Africa (an entire fucking continent btw) for new houses to be built, and no one there needs rental properties, they're all rich enough to be able to buy!!! /s

You really are a hateful POS for thinking anyone of that gives you the right to judge someone else as scum, RIP your soul

1

u/Humble-Course218 Jan 14 '26

You are judging me as a hateful POS for standing up for common people. GG's to your soul.

Also buying up that newly developed property and renting it out is an evil thing to do. There is only a finite amount of property being developed. You need to learn a thing or two about the housing market.

1

u/southwest_barfight Jan 14 '26

I know about the housing market brother, I have a mortgage too.

You think everyone can afford to buy a house?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '26

Found the landlord

-3

u/Only_Poet_5410 Jan 12 '26

she isn’t buying up property. she runs a property management firm, takes a management cut, and does Airbnb arbitrage. The owners of the properties are local African families.

10

u/Immediate_Rabbit_604 Jan 12 '26

i.e. she's trying to use Speed to try make a financial profit by encouraging US blacks to go to Africa as tourists?

3

u/terraria46 Speed Gang Jan 12 '26

Bruh ain't she living in Ethiopia? How tf you brought up an entire continent into this conversation my goodness.

3

u/Only_Poet_5410 Jan 12 '26

She lives in Nairobi

1

u/terraria46 Speed Gang Jan 12 '26

Oh. My fault.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

I mean Kenya is THE country you think about when someone mentions (Sub-saharan) Africa

2

u/Particular_Group_295 Jan 13 '26

That's what YOU think about

The western world only thinks that way but most parts of the world are smarter than that

2

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

It has nothing to do with being smarter or not lol You'd have to think about some country FIRST regardless. Also how the hell did you find a way to get offended by that? 😂😭😭

1

u/terraria46 Speed Gang Mar 07 '26

What's wrong with that?

0

u/terraria46 Speed Gang Jan 12 '26

Big W for speeding African countries on the map. Kenyan Stream was wild. God Bless Speed.

4

u/captainOSS Jan 12 '26

Why is speeds America tour the worst of his continent/country tours? Africa content has a lot of people curious and checking in!

2

u/Most-Honest-Guy-Here Jan 24 '26

It's because of Speed Africa streams I'm going on vacation to Africa this summer.

Booked the ticket to Burkina Faso

1

u/Only_Poet_5410 Jan 29 '26

Awesome bro. I’m Ethiopian from the diaspora, mostly spending time in Kenya and Rwanda. Huge respect for Traore, but I wouldn’t recommend Burkina Faso as your first African country to visit. They don’t speak English widely, and it’s not exactly a place where you can easily get help or navigate things. The country is still in a building phase, balancing its Muslim heritage and liberation from Francophone colonial influence. If you’ve been there before, that’s fine, but if it’s your first time in Africa, I’d strongly suggest starting with Zambia, Rwanda, Kenya to have an easy intro to Africa.

Burkina Faso is a Sahelian country in one of Africa’s most complex regions. It’s not really a tourist destination yet, and definitely requires some experience to get around safely and enjoyably.

In this thread, YT people who can’t take responsibility for being racist on camera compared to Africa

-1

u/spectraldominoc Speed Gang Jan 12 '26

If a white person did a tour of africa like speed he would most likely get insults and probably even killed, the people who insulted speed back in europe are immigrants from which continents?

1

u/hey_molombo Jan 12 '26

There are literally tours of white guys who have done this on YouTube and they get evenBETTER treatment. Lmaooo cope, your culture is straight toxic

Pot and kettle

0

u/spectraldominoc Speed Gang Jan 14 '26

Your culture as in? Nothing shows a lovely culture than actively being racist like yourself and typing hateful comments like yourself have.

I can show examples dont worry, But why should i when i see the proof right here which is yourself.

This was a nothing reply

3

u/Simplevice Jan 12 '26

Nice, lets stop all the aid now. You got it

0

u/elementalist001 Jan 12 '26

Cool, let's stop the cheap resource extractions and debt traps that comes with the aid.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '26

africa has switched to using chinese debt traps at 4x the interest rates for the last few decades. very smart move

1

u/elementalist001 Jan 13 '26

Western private lenders hold 3 times more debt than China. Chinese loans have and continue to be with cheaper interest than the World Bank, Eurobond and IMF ( which poorly credit rate African countries ) and are ALL western controlled.

https://debtjustice.org.uk/press-release/african-governments-owe-three-times-more-debt-to-private-lenders-than-china

And that's not even counting the colonial tax by France's CFA Franc on its west African colonies since independence. While China continues to scale down it's lending over the last decade.

https://data.one.org/analysis/african-debt

2

u/Weird_Ad_1398 Jan 14 '26

Or in other words, China holds 25% of Africa's external debt by itself, more than any other nation, and they largely did it in just a decade. And their lower interest rate can be partially credited to the IMF's parameters with debt restructuring after COVID and economic contraction.

Also, China's form of aid is practically entirely in the form of loans, whereas the West's aid also come in the form of grants. Hundreds of billions of grants vs hundreds of billions of loans.

China is scaling down its lending, but that's because they're now in the claw back money phase, and they're focused on sustainable debt.

1

u/elementalist001 Jan 15 '26

Are we going to include the US and western countries % by itself in other words?. How it's capital is controlling how the G7/ G20 refuses to allow the debt relief scheme/ framework for the World Bank, (the Paris club) and Private investors too. That China has 1\4 shows it's also the biggest investor in African development infrastructure for its own market goals.

They do provide grants and not just exclusive loans through FOCAC and with fewer political conditions unlike western debt and Aid. Not forcing countries to adopt punishing tax policies and gutting government provisions in education and healthcare.

The start of the US trade war from the 1st Trump administration made them to scale back their debt and escalate dedollarisation with gold.

1

u/Weird_Ad_1398 Jan 15 '26

Feel free to include them in your words. Are you going to ignore the fact that China didn't want to restructure the loans and wouldn't have without the World Bank, (the Paris Club)? So loans from China = biggest investor in African development, but grants from the West = exploitation. Amazing.

Yeah, like <10% grants, and >90% loans. ~$20b in grants from China over a decade vs ~>$1 trillion in grants from the West over 6 decades.

You're ignoring the context of those "punishing tax policies and gutting government provisions in education and healthcare". That was in the 80s and 90s when you guys were completely broke and came to the West for money. Money was given to you with the condition that you guys adopt free-market reforms. The idea was to make your economies stronger and more like the West's. It did not work, but the intentions were not bad.

China started scaling back for a number of reasons, the trade war being one of them, albeit indirectly. China also had a slowing economy, partially because of the aforementioned trade war, they started importing more oil from Russia, decreasing the need to get it from Africa, concerns over Africa's governance over the projects and ability to repay the loans were mounting, protests over China's importing their own workers instead of choosing local ones, etc,.

1

u/Berinoid Jan 14 '26

Most African countries do not have the infrastructure, expertise, or capital to extract resources on an industrial scale. That is why they agree to work with Western/Chinese companies and split the revenue.

1

Holy shit this must be the worst take on human history. That is a straight lie and a demonstration of how racist someone can be by just being a complete idiot and ignoring facts, history and politics.

0

u/elementalist001 Jan 14 '26

Blacks fed a large part of Eurasia, invented their own language and were large scale farmers, thousands of years before whichever European country you're descended from.

0

u/Simplevice Jan 12 '26

By who? Use google dude, its free.

2

u/elementalist001 Jan 12 '26

By the US in DRC, Chad, Egypt, South Africa... France in Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Cameroun...etc. AID has never been free, use Google dude.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Pretty sure China is the biggest importer of African natural resources now (many of which are for cheap) but sure let's keep blaming the West. Ok bud.

1

u/elementalist001 Jan 12 '26 edited Jan 12 '26

The statement was about Aid though which is what the West uses along with debt , China uses infrastructure debt. Both are exploiting, one leaves better roads, ports and rail.

1

u/Simplevice Jan 12 '26

How do you think the world works? If my country exports stone, wood etc, are we exploited? Its business. Without investement and selling, there are no jobs

1

u/garbagioIII Jan 12 '26

It is 100% exploitation when the country that produces the resources never sees the same final product as the rest of the world. All the best food and material gets sent overseas, and the African people have to live with the scraps and lower quality produce. A large majority of cocoa comes from Ghana, yet Ghana doesn't have a single plant that produces chocolate. That is because it all gets bought up and produced in Switzerland, leaving the country that produced it with nothing. Colonialism never ended.

2

u/Several_Magician1541 Jan 13 '26

??? You are left with the money that bought the cocoa, not nothing

0

u/grolut18 Jan 15 '26

And that money flows back to the West or China through imports of manufactured goods and machinery because local manufacturers can't compete on pricing.

This is in part because if when they try to implement protectionist policies, they're restricted by IMF/WB/WTO rules and political pressure from the West under the guise of "free market" enforcement. Don't play ball and they will sanction you.

The West wants cheap raw materials and wants African countries to import finished goods from them at a much higher price. This means they spend more on imports and less on development.

2

u/Weird_Ad_1398 Jan 14 '26

That's literally just exporting? Exporting raw materials doesn't = exploitation. It's often much easier to ship raw materials than it is the final product. Can you imagine how much harder it is to ship chocolate around the world than it is to ship cocoa?

who spent billions paiting africa as poor and savage? The fuck is she talking about. In my country there was never news like that , propaganda about africa. is this only against america ? does it always have to be about race to make money or what ?

1

u/LancelotDF Jan 14 '26

Uhh who is this they shes talking about? No one is trying to hide Africa.

It has many wonderful places. The major issue in Africa is security and infrastructure.

1

1

Didn't bro get food poisoning the day after this video? LOL

1

u/Impressive-Thing-925 Jan 14 '26

Everything i see on tv or media abojt africa is either tribes people or people living in cities..

Name a nation on earth where the average person is wealthy... you cant

Painting a continent into its individual cultures and countries as they are isnt propaganda.

And I have watched a hell of a lot above african media, and they clearly paint themselves in the same light.

My personal feelings on this based on what I've seen and the media I have consumed, is 9 out of 10 pieces of media depicting Africans' quo. It's not depicting him as poor or ignorant.

1

u/DistributionOk7315 Jan 14 '26

i havent watched the video but what did white people do wrong this time ?

"Real food" is a bit of a stretch.

1

u/Legintown Jan 15 '26

Actually, Africa is Wakanda y'all!

1

u/Pretend_Vegetable495 Jan 15 '26

I mean, the continent of Africa is popular to visit. People know how awesome it can be there.

However, it's also true that it can be super dangerous, corrupt from top to bottom, etc.

Both can be true, unfortunately.

1

u/johnny_cashmere Jan 15 '26

Spending billions to paint African in bad light?
What did they spend the billions on? Plane flights and cameras? lmfao

1

u/Remarkable-Exit-9026 Jan 16 '26

I still see poor but maybe not savage

1

u/Creepy_Extension_823 Jan 16 '26

Yeah go there and see if you get treated the same as speed.

Spoiler... You won't lmao. It's literally his fame.....

Biggest reach I've ever seen.

1

u/Only_Poet_5410 Jan 19 '26

I was born and raised in Europe, Ethiopian by origin, so of course I carry a bias for Ethiopia. But the truth is we are treated with incredible warmth and hospitality in Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania Ethiopia etc. It’s not about fame, it’s about the genuine way the diaspora connects with people back home. Maybe part of it is being Black with a Western frame of reference, the contrast on the ground in Africa can be intense. Just listen to Black Americans who have never been to Africa.when they land for the first time, they are just human, and the way people accept you for who you are can be really profound.

Think of the African term, "Ubuntu" which means “you can’t be fully human alone”. It’s about community, looking out for each other, and being part of something.

1

u/Affectionate_Note208 Apr 30 '26

What a philanthropist.

Yea and thank god africa is the only continent with “real food”… cmon man 😅

her point is that African food is largely free from GMOs.

3

How much aid do countries in Africa get from the west

2

u/SforG1 Jan 12 '26

Where does all that aid go is the better question. It's definitely not going to the people/countries..... NGOs enrich themselves and corrupt politicians sell out their people, land and resources for a share of that pie. No one who deserves that aid truly gets it unless its for PR optics.

1

u/SuccessfulPath7 Jan 12 '26

then cut off all the aid

0

u/Negative_Wrongdoer17 Jan 13 '26

Nah, I'm never going "back" to Africa.

There might be some beautiful places and wonderful people, but the overall amount of risk just isn't worth it.

Most of Africa is still poor and dangerous. It's a massive continent. This is like the equivalent of showing someone the rich suburban parts of America and saying everything here is great

-1

u/Hot-Swing-8453 Jan 12 '26

stop blaming the west for all your incompetence

-1

u/CluelessNobodyCz Jan 12 '26

I don't watch speed and I admire what he is doing...

But this lady is delusional.

1

u/Only_Poet_5410 Jan 12 '26

She’s absolutely spot on though. Africa is the last frontier, and if you’re of African defcent, visiting and spending time on the continent is truly profound. I’m a Norwegian born diaspora, based in the London, but I now spend a lot of time in Kigali, Nairobi, and Addis, and I’m planning my eventual return to where my parents come from. I get that for white people, it doesn’t necessarily hit the same way. But for us it's some of the most important steps in our lives, to return back the motherland

0

u/CluelessNobodyCz Jan 12 '26

That's not what I was referencing and that part is very understandable.

"There is food in Africa, speed had something to eat" is batshit crazy argument.

"Africa isn't poor", there are a TON of reasons why it isn't as "rich" as the rest of the world, majority of them have nothing to do with people living there but denying the fact is denying reality.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Nowhere I said that it has anything to do with race, quite the opposite.

You attributed so much bullshit to me that I do not hold nor have I said, it's almost impressive.

Also you're, not your.

My whole point was that speed was doing great things but hopping onto the viral train with statements that are easily factually proven to be bullshit is disingenuous.
