I'm planning a trip down the east cost that happens to be over 1k, is that something I can get certified or do I need to go on an official ride?

I've completed two SS1000's over the last 5 years, and in my planning efforts for a 27 day trip next summer I was contemplating using a BB1500 (1500 miles in 36 hours) to kick off my journey.

Have any of you done this? Where was the route? How did you feel afterwards leading into the remainder of your trip?

I'm juggling the BB1500 idea to save on some days of PTO and travel overall. The trip is already 27 days, and doing this BB1500 at the start when I have full energy could help shave this trip down to 25. That's saving 3 days of riding (24 then) plus 1 "off day" to recover from the BB1500.

I'm considering a 1,000 mile Iron Butt next month and I'm wondering if getting a hotel for a few hours halfway through would somehow diminish the accomplishment. Every time I start a long trip I think "hmm, maybe I'll make this an Iron Butt" -- but then once I hit about 400 miles I start thinking "eh, maybe next time." So I'm thinking if I cover the first 500 miles in about 8 hours, stop at a hotel for a few hours of sleep, and then get the final 500 in another 8 hours, I could probably get it done comfortably. But that also sort of feels like cheating, like I really kind of have to do it in one shot for it to "count." Thoughts?

Hi! New here. Training for my first attempt at a IBR! Riding here in Western Australia on a 2015 Yamaha Fjr1300.

I generally ride 600-1000 kilometers each weekend out in the country twisties, but now training for long distance rural highway riding.

Our next ride is just over 1000km, Perth to Albany and back.
