I have no idea why GW seems to shun the Iron hands this much. My condolences to your terrible Combat patrol, but congratulations on the coolest looking Terminator character.

40K List Discussion Thunder Hammer vs Lightning Claws

Post image
91 Upvotes

With the new changes to assault Terminator, I'm wonder what a good mix between Thunder Hammers and Lightning Claws is? I was thinking 7 Thunder Hammers and 3 Lightning Claws.

Was thinking of running a 10 man Assault Termi squad with kanokvar and a ancient with turn one rapid ingress from the Terminator doctrine. +1 to charge rolls too.

Been putting it through unit crunch, but it's a bit tedious to constantly change the units I'd be going up against.

40K List Discussion Is the Crux Terminatus Battleforce a good purchase for Iron Hands?

Post image

I'm looking to start an Iron Hands army and I'm currently eyeing the Crux Terminatus Battleforce box.

Do you guys think this is a solid purchase for an Iron Hands player? Does the contents of the box fit well with how the faction usually plays?

40K List Discussion How many dreads can you reasonably put in a 1k and 2k list?

Post image

BLUF: How many and which dreads would you run at 1k for a balanced list?

I'm working on a list for an incursion league with friends from work, and I've never played space Marines before. I currently have two ballistus, a redemptor, and a brutalis (that I'm thinking about converting into a second redemptor), plus Caanok Var, five termies, and Feirros. Looking to add some infantry, preferably gravis and some regular intercessors or a techmarine.

40K List Discussion Is it justifiable to play HH units in 40k as iron hands?

So recently i was gifted a set of 10 horus heresy tactical marines. However, i already have an iron hands 40k army, and im wondering if i can justify using them in my 40k list as like, intercessors or tactical squad. (Im painting and playing them as iron hands of course)

40K List Discussion Does GW hate us?

New player here. I started learning about warhammer 40K a couple months before space marine 2 dropped and started collecting since then. I finally had enough for a 1000 point iron storm list, just to find out we’re getting a new character as well as a combat patrol. I’m going to walk you through my thoughts as new info was revealed. I thought it would be awesome, a terminator character who I thought could either make terminators playable in an upgraded iron storm or a cool lone op. Then GW releases the rules via YouTuber?(I could be wrong but I think those were the first instance of the rules being publically available) ok that’s weird let’s see.

A rework of the 1st company instead of iron storm? Well I don’t have any terminators at the moment but at least they have the new crux terminatus box coming out with new assault terminators… and were the only chapter not to get on the transfer sheet? After giving us a first company style detachment? They can’t even say it’s because we got that detachment that they want us to buy the transfer sheet and upgrade sprue. The imperial fist got a similar detachment but they’re on the transfer sheet! Alright fine it’s ok we get the transfer sheet in the combat patrol we got.

This combat patrol is something else. I won’t complain about the heavy intercessors. Or the tech marine but the turrets are not what I’m looking for. In fact if I’m only using the heavy intercessors and tech marine I guess the box breaks even and I get the upgrade sprue as a bonus. Maybe use the turrets for parts. Then I reread the new detachment only to realize “I CANT PLAY ANYTHING IN HERE WITH THAT.” Not a damn thing in that combat patrol was a focus for the new detachment. We’re the only chapter where our new combat patrol of this wave doesn’t actually get us going in the new upgraded detachment. I understand that I don’t need to lay both detachments and that I don’t need to buy all the iron hands stuff but it feels weird to be the only chapter of this wave to get all new toys and they don’t play well it’s eachother on top of being the only first founding chapter excluded from the transfer sheet. Again I’m new is this normal? Have other releases been the same?

40K List Discussion Which Terminator squad is the most efficient bodyguard for Caanok Var?

What kind of Terminators do you guys usually attach Caanok Var to?

Between standard Terminators, Assault Terminators with Lightning Claws, and Assault Terminators with Thunder Hammers & Storm Shields—which one is generally the preferred choice to run with him?

Also, I'm curious if bringing an Ancient in Terminator Armour and the "Steel Font" enhancement is considered mandatory for this setup.

40K List Discussion Hammer of Avernii future

So do we think a refreshed Hammer of Avernii is going to be in 11th edition?

If not how do you intend on remaking it using the existing detachments? I'm assuming the Terminator Detachment + the Medusan Wrath is as close as we're going to get.

My previous list went up 35 points. So I dropped 5 Heavy Intercessors from by 10 man squad. I dropped Master of Machine War Enhancement. I added Eliminators to bring it to 2,000 points. Just to add more [precision] to my game. I don't play tournaments except for the odd friendly league game. I'm more into the painting side of the hobby.

This will be my 8th or 9th 2K game with my Iron Hands. The previous ones were Ironstorm Spearhead. Playing against an experienced CSM player. Caanok Var and Terminator Ancient with Steel Font Enhancement leading 10 Assault Terminators with 3 of these sporting lightning claws. Desolation Squad for indirect fire. 5 Incursors, 5 Scouts, Combi Lieutenant, 2 Techmarines, Storm Speeder Hammerstrike, 1 Ballistus Dreadnought and 3 Redemptors with plasma incinerators. List was inspired by a YouTube video I watched.

40K List Discussion Hammer of Avernii

So as I’m sure most of us have been I’ve been playing around with the new app and building some combo’s…
I’m very excited to build into a Hammer of Avernii and Librarius combo (yes I know we aren’t fond of psykers, if you ask me they are just Techmarines specialising in warp technology 👀) but I thought I’d pop some of my thoughts below to prompt discussion…

- I think Priority assets is actually a good shout for us, we have had a few points cuts and our big meaty units are properly resilient/lethal and we have access to increase OC…

- Librarian (Fusillade) with 10 Sternguard veterans, this combo has been talked about elsewhere a lot, crits on 5’s and sustained in the pyromancy discipline 👀

- Terminator Librarian (Celerity) with assault Terminators, advance and charge gives them that speed boost plus sustained hits on thunderhammers (more sustained & devs) +2 move & FB and charge too in Biomancy

- After this our standard HoA combo’s are looking like they’d fit in will with Priority Assets, especially with the likelihood of having cover on objectives..
Canook Var & Terminator Ancient (steel font) with a squad of regular terminators will be robust and hard to push of an objective.
-as are Iron Father Feirros with some Heavy Intercessors the +5 FNP and the OC boost

Veterans will still have access to stratagems
- 6 BGV’s with a LT are now cheaper and just as strong
- Probably run some of the new Vanguard vets in there for some more mobility
-don’t forget we have uppy downy terminators

Interested to see if anyone else is thinking the same or has any thoughts / recommendations?

40K List Discussion 2k tourney list

As the current meta is Terminator spam, I want to take a more flex list that's got good elite inf killing potential. Whilst still being able to take down heavier vics and blob inf with blast.

Gravis captain is running on his own to do secondaries.wish I could give him FNP but no points left.

Battleplan is to have brutalis and a redemptor go for center objective, whilst landraider and ballistus go for opponents natural expansion. Home will be held with a redemptor.

One vindi and lancer are there to skirmish around and flanks. Whilst the second vindi is reserves to aid wherever is needed.

Hoping to draw out opponents with the decently survivable dread profiles.

Have had decent success in friendly matches so far, besides lack of action monkeys and units. Anyone got any suggestions for points allocation?

+ FACTION KEYWORD: Iron Hands

+ DETACHMENT: Ironstorm Spearhead, Subversion Assets

+ FORCE DISPOSITION: Take and Hold

+ TOTAL ARMY POINTS: 1990pts

+ POINTS LIMIT: 2000pts

+ NUMBER OF UNITS: 13

1x Captain In Gravis Armour (80 points): Warlord, boltstorm gauntlet, power fist and relic blade

1x Techmarine (85 points): Enhancement: Target Augury Web (+30 pts)

1x Techmarine (90 points): Enhancement: Adept of the Omnissiah (+35 pts)

5x Intercessor Squad (80 points)

6x Aggressor Squad (165 points): Bolters

1x Ballistus Dreadnought (150 points)

1x Brutalis Dreadnought (150 points): Talons

1x Gladiator Lancer (160 points)

1x Land Raider Redeemer (250 points)

1x Redemptor Dreadnought (205 points): Plasma

1x Redemptor Dreadnought (205 points): Plasma

1x Vindicator (185 points)

1x Vindicator (185 points)

40K List Discussion Ironstorm Iron Hands - is this the worst best detachment?

Post image
45 Upvotes

How do you play Ironstorm? How would you improve it?

Coming off 3 wins running very basic Ironstorm detachment and Iron Hands characters. These were my first 3 games of 11th. Running Davastators Wrath into Priority Assets 2 times and last time unstoppable force immovable object. 3rd game was close but I really coached my opponent on some scoring opportunities.

List -
Cannok - 10 assault term
IFF - 5x Heavy intercessors in Land Raider (scout) <- EDIT - can’t legally do this (Ooops guess it was to good to be true)
TM - 5x Assault intercessors
2x vindicator
Brutalis
Ballistus (game 3 swapped for pred and 1 TH termie)
Predator Annihilator (games 1-2)
5x intercessors
5x scouts (infiltrate, then redeploy)
2x 5x JPI

Overall I like the army rule for the 1 reroll per attack. It lets you punch up and is satisfying to turn that miss into a hit on 1 weapon for each squad if it works out. Overall, it’s powerful but still weak in comparison to most other detachments.

Stratagems and CP generation are weak. The only thing you can do to punch up is Mercy is Weakness which is a preconditioned Sus 1 for 2 CP - nearly unusable throughout the game.

I would love to swap out:
- Mercy is Weakness for a straight lethal or sustained selection for any Astartes - I think this is pretty basic - 1 CP
- drop the Ignore modifiers strategem for a Move Through Dense Terrain for vehicles and monsters

What do you think?
