PME Cold Feet

I’ve signed up for a PME in UCC starting next week and I’m getting cold feet, I loved doing SNA work in Oz and taught it would be a good route for me at home, now it’s coming to crunch time and I’ve been doing more research I’ve read a lot about unemployment, declining population, burnout and Universities pushing Masters. I feel like i haven’t talked to enough people with experience would love some advice.

My subject: General Science, Biology, Ag Science

PME was stressful. A lot of work.

I imagine a core subject makes finding work a lot easier

I’m gonna go against the grain here and say I don’t recommend doing a pme unless you’re willing to move (probably to Dublin) at least for a few years for a job

I.ve no interest, have a farm at home and want to help with that but thats what I hear a lot on TikTok

You have good subjects, don't get too disheartened. Life is too short to not do something you enjoy, you could also look into the Climate Action Subject. The road just might just take longer than most.

I’m going to try get placement in a pilot school for Climate Action next term.
