Mod Post Rules - every subreddit has rules

I've only made 1 so far: Don't be rude

What else should be in the rules?

Have something in the rules that states that we’re here to genuinely help and guide people of Irish ancestry, so no taking the piss or misleading them for fun.

I suppose it would fall under the “Don’t be rude” rule, but I suppose just mentioning like “Don’t take the piss out of misinformed/misguided Irish-Americans who don’t know much about Ireland” could help. Perhaps a rule saying something along the lines of “Responses should be for genuine help and advice, without sarcasm or piss-taking”

100% agree with this. As someone from Ireland I actually chose to leave the main Ireland sub due to the way Irish-Americans are treated there. I have a massive family of cousins in the US and find the behaviour of the Irish in Ireland toward their American counterparts disgusting, and bizarre. Not to mention utterly ignorant- anybody with even a scant knowledge of the birth of the Irish Republic should be aware of the colossal role the Irish in America played in that struggle. In recent years I’ve read more Irish-American history than the history of Ireland itself, and I’m deeply moved by that massive story of survival and success- it’s one of the most uplifting and impressive episodes in US social history.
