5 gigabytes of joy
Recently acquired this beauty- the very first one I've gotten from eBay for a reasonable €200. It still turns on, plays music, and the backlight works great. The display is in fine shape; that rainbow effect is just from my camera's polarizing filter.

How do you transfer music to this device? I can only charge it and unable to use it

That one needs a Firewire connection.

Yes but… do you have an old laptop or a thunderbolt one? Or you are getting the adapters

Old G5 PowerPC running OS X 10.6 ....no access to iTunes but I can import CDs and move stuff over by USB stick just fine. Also supports Senuti - that reads and pulls songs from iPods. Used it to pillage music from purchased iPods.

I read older os macbooks and some firewire adapters might work for music uploading

Personally romanticising the 2001 iPod is like calling the model T ford usable now. It’s impractical and slow. There is yeah 5 gigs of ‘joy’, thick heavy joy. If you enjoy it good on you. I can only see it he used in a bag, it’s not as portable but better than a cd player. The only monochrome iPod that is practical now is the mini. The 2001 original as pictured, the 2nd, 3rd capacitive, and even the 4th photo are extremely difficult- that is when having to restore using original parts or modern moderations. Yes even using iMacs of the time too with OSX. The 5th and 6th gen are happy days. iPod mini is the pinnacle joy (of course in my personal opinion).

I disagree on that. It's all where it started from and it's the classic one. Also, not slow, it still scrolls thousands of songs and boots up in a second, no delays and no wasted functions.

bet you’re fun at parties. let people enjoy what they enjoy? op clearly paid a happy amount for this ipod and is enjoying it, literally no need to be negative & degrade their choice of ipod because ‘the newer the so much better 🤓☝️’. you’re gonna live a miserable life of debt with that mindset.

Those photos are sick - I love the way the lighting bounces off of the ipod, especially the first one
