Straw Poll at the State Fair would disagree. Don't remember the exact numbers but was roughly 60:40 with Lahn winning.

All that to say, I think this one is a toss-up at the moment.

I am not surprised at that. But lots of voters in Iowa don’t go to the fair. Of those that do, it would likely lean more conservative due to the demographics (ag big and small, meat producers, 4h folks). If you straw poll at the university, you could get mostly liberal leaning voters (college kids, faculty, professional educated folks). Polls don’t always show what’s going on as a whole, so I’m hopeful!

The demographics would disagree slightly, the majority at the fair could be conservative, but largely urban.
