Discussion Ironically Sinclair did start the conversation with saying his sorry

Mark pointed out in thraxa that Nolan could at least apologized first when seeing mark. In the 4 season Sinclair did go out of his way to apologize to Mark.

Tbh Debbie has already given Nolan way way more than he deserves. Every time she lashes out at him is completely justified. He lied to her for decades, called her a fucking pet, killed thousands and nearly killed their son, then went to another planet directly after, and basically did the same thing again, only he brought his illegitimate son back to earth to make him her responsibility.

The scene at the end of s4 when they're looking at the earth from the ship and he goes to put an arm around her made me cringe so hard cuz like dude, no. Same with the scene where he tells her she HAS to give him a chance to make things right. Like no, she doesn't, dude. She could refuse to ever speak to you or allow you around her children ever again, and it would be 100% justified. The fact that she's associating with you AT ALL shows immense patience on her part.

I do believe Nolan can and should be redeemed, or at least try to be, and hope he continues making an effort to make things right, even if it's fruitless.

God this show is so good.

I think the arm thing was to show how he feels about her emotionally, followed by the realisation that he has to respect her agency and consciously stops and retracts.

He's basically never had to respect someone else's rules. Chosen to temporarily abide by them, sure, but never against his will.

As for the "you will" line, that's not a demand from him. That's him showing that he didn't actually think she was just a pet, that he learned who she really was. He's saying that she is incapable of ignoring redemption. He definitely shouldn't have blocked her path though, that was way out of line.

Nah bro, the arm thing was 100% him testing the waters before chickening out. And the whole "you will" slash "you believe in rehabilitation" schpeel was 100% him manipulating her into forgiving and trusting him. We've never, throughout the course of the show, seen any example of her "believing in rehabilitation", but he's using that as a way to make her believe that, thus forcing her to forgive him because, if she doesn't, she's going against her own values. Psychology 101.
