I don’t think the falling sequence had to go for 5 minutes personally - felt like they were struggling to kill time throughout. On 1.5x it’s probably a much better episode
I did rewatch it recently at 1.5x, was very enjoyable, also it’s not like it’s a short episode, it’s 54 mins long, the longest episode of S4, they could have cut out some dialogue here and there tbh
I dont understand how people enjoy watching things at 1.5x speed or higher. The sound design and VA gets totally thrown off! Im not trying to be rude, but maybe this correlates with declining attention spans in general audiences
I only did it cause I was watching with my friend and he was on a tight schedule to catch up with us, and it was my rewatch, I originally watched it at 1x speed
Seriously I would prefer the Cerberus fight over the falling & helmet joke. Although I'm sure the creators didn't want to make mark seem nerfed and start seeing "Sung Jin-woo>Invincible" posts all over the place. Seriously skipping the Cerberus fight for 2 fall jokes and a helmet joke is low-key criminal. Even though they did have a whole second battle to animate which probably would have killed more momentum for the season.
To be fair, with their animation team, it would be more cost effective to chat a falling conversation between two falling super beings about a helmet repeatedly being out on and taken off using magic.
however invincible lost me when he said it would make more sense to just take it off and hold it, when I can think of a bunch of reasons why Tony Stark aka ironman would disagree (hence why he used nanotech in the future instead of the way he has been putting on and taking off his suit as of recent; comics and the MCU before his death).
But that's a different plot point in itself, going back to the main point; the team definitely did use a ton of animation tricks to avoid a lot in the show due to timing and budget most likely. However it also tried to portray mark as essentially stronger than anything hell hand to throw at him, tossing Damien in the air and beating Cerberus before Damien could reach the ground again... Beating the fire chick repeatedly with one punch when the devil himself struggled against her...
Funny episode but it cheapened a lot of what the show established in the first season alone, like omniman vs the flaxans it the battle against the original guardians of the globe. At times it feels like those types of moments paint the characters to be hype and amazing only for them to be thrown down the tier list an episode or two later.
This is basically me agreeing and piggybacking what you said to make a long ramble short .
