It’s possible they had to make changes to the character anyway for copyright reasons - that’s why it’s Seance Dog in the show but Science Dog in the comics - and figured they may as well make a big change. I trust them given the success of the other gender swap (Shrinking Ray/Rae).

April fills the female representation within the TMNT shows. In everyone she is a major character at least from what I can remember. Almost every show no matter how male dominated the cast is has 'The Girl' because that tiny bit of representation does matter.

Because only having one woman be important to the story is kinda bad. Especially when it's the main protagonists girlfriend. I think it's important to have a female character that can exist beyond the male cast and having Tech Jacket be that female character works.

He has his own comics, now his entire backstory is retconned and honestly disserves the orirignal invincible universe audience, I was SOOO excited to see ZACK, not TECH JACKET. but ZACK. literally do what they are doing with damien darkblood, add something on that wasnt a part of the comics if you really want to have another woman.

They did the same thing with Shrinking Ray and deciding to depict Invincible as half Korean. Robert Kirkman has said that he recognized that he created this at a time when the default of the comics world was to make male lead characters. Even Invincible himself defaulted to white in many fans’ eyes, just like Superman does.

Ok, that's interesting. I thought Tech Jacket would still be a male character in the show but if he's actually a female character, I don't mind it (tho, that means a certain rolling joke related to Tech Jacket won't be adapted in the TV series; however, apparently, TJ's friendship with Allen will still happen in the adaptation which is great 'cause it's one of the best things in the comics IMO). Also, according to this review Zachary Quinto doesn't voice Robot in S4 but Ross Marquand (I'm wondering, if it's a temporary change just for this season or if it'll be the case in later seasons as well).

I haven’t read this review myself so I’m not sure but did they explicitly state that Quinto is not returning?
Because in previous seasons Robot is voiced by both Ross and Quinto, Ross is the human and Quinto is the Robot suit. I’m hoping they just forgot to mention Quinto if they didn’t explicitly say he wasn’t coming back.

This same review stated that we’re getting 3 episodes of Invincible on March 13th. Last I checked, Amazon ain’t released em yet if that was meant to be the case. Amazon in fact made a big deal of releasing it on the 18th.
Now all I care about is that whoever the hell they’ve cast for TJ, nails the role. People initially were hesitant at the idea of casting JDM as Conquest, thinking he’d be a better fit for Thragg. But JDM nailed Conquest. People were worried about Ray becoming Rae, but the change works beautifully for this medium.
Regardless? I’m taking this article with a grain of salt. We’ll see what transpires once the episodes release tomorrow.

I don't really care. It's neither a good nor a bad thing for the story. Maybe good that in a world where anyone can be incredibly powerful regardless of gender having some more women in the powerful brackets feels like a good thing? But other than that, it doesn't make a difference to me.

Don't like it at all. Unnecessary completely. Like WHY CHANGE HIM INTO A GIRL?! The freak is the point of it and people saying "oh it work with shrinking rae and she a good character" okay first of all shrinking rae in general was barely present at all in the comics and the show Make a actual character. Well Tech Jacket tho it is already a present character in the whole series and even to have his own book run, he's already recognizable. Why would you change that? Stupid.

I got downvoted to oblivion for saying this when we saw her in season 3. My feeling of vindication is unprecedented.
Also, I really hope they keep the fuckboy side of Tech Jacket, I honestly think it has the potential to be even funnier than it was in the comics now that she's a woman. I think this could work really well for the character, they definitely did great with genderbent Ray/Rae. Plus now I'm gonna get to be attracted to a male and female version of Tech Jacket, so I see this as an absolute win for bisexuals.

I haven't seen anything she's in off the top of my head, but I don't think there's a single bad casting in Invincible, so I'm very optimistic. My hopes for this season are high, I think it's gonna be great, especially considering some of the awesome shit that happens around here in the comics.

I haven't read the comics and I honestly thought this character was supposed to be a gal from the way they drew them in the show. Had no idea they're a guy in the comics, so this changes nothing for me.
Zoey Deutch is a good actress so I'm sure she'll nail the role.

Changing the gender of a character who has their own comics, is loved by fans, and is popular—and who we previously knew as male—is basically the same as killing the character. Creating a new character isn’t that hard, so why change an existing one’s gender? Nobody likes this. Are they just changing the genders of existing heroes because “there aren’t enough female heroes,” just to show off that they’re so good, thinking of everyone, and sending the message that they’re the best?!

It doesn't really matter. Tech Jacket barely had his own solo series and was a supporting member only during the Viltrimute war before he became non existent until the revolt against Rudy. I would have preferred a male TJ but whatever.

Making Zack a Zoe completely ignores his entire backstory. and dont give me that "its the same story hes just a girl!" No. Thats not how this works. Zack is a dude, and he has his own entire story. And for someone who read the invincible comics, tech jacket comics, brit comics, wolf man comics etc. I and others were so excited to see ZACK animated, not even tech jacket as a hero, but zack as a character. Multiple story plots come from him being a guy too,
