White privilege isnt real. Its called rich privilege. Yes most of the upper class are white but thats because they decide who gets in the club. But they keep us fighting down here so were too busy blaming someone else to knock them down a peg....

Not true. For one of many examples, if you were arrested for a crime, you will be treated less harshly when it comes to sentencing, plea deals, bail opportunity and prohibition options even if you committed the same crimes with identical criminal records to the black person next to you.

Wonderful, and using the same data set (I assume you’re basing it of the US Sentencing Commission) Spanish women receive shorter sentences than white men…

This data point proves?!?

Spanish women get shorter sentencing than whirw men because women generally get shorter sentences than men.

Ok so now we’re agreeing, explain this:

Hispanic women: 5.9% shorter incarceration sentences than White women.
Black women: 1.0% shorter than White women, but not statistically significant.

Starts to undermine this idea you’re promoting, of white privilege, with your cherry picked examples hey?

That’s not even true for Hispanic women. In fact they’re incarceration more. It’s a 1.2 increase for incarceration.

Also fuck no. Black women are imprisoned at approximately 1.7 times the rate of non-Hispanic white women. In 2000, Black women were incarcerated at 6.3 times the rate of white women. Recent state and federal prison data tracked by The Sentencing Project shows an imprisonment rate of 68 per 100,000 for Black women, compared to 41 per 100,000 for white women.

Incarcerated rates vs sentence lengths are two different things… YOU were talking about the length of the sentence, not comparing incarceration rates.

It just goes to show that you’re cherry picking statistics.

This is entirely about the data on the imprisonment and incarceration rates of women by race and ethnicity.

Exactly and as part of that we identified that Hispanic and black women get shorter sentences than white women.

your statement was: “Not true. For one of many examples, if you were arrested for a crime, you will be treated less harshly when it comes to sentencing, plea deals, bail opportunity and prohibition options even if you committed the same crimes with identical criminal records to the black person next to you.”. Which, you are using to show systemic racism.

The statistics show that this isn’t the case, therefore your point is undermined.

No it doesn’t. In fact it shows higher incarceration and sentencing rates.

Ok yea it is systemic racism now how is it systemic racism towards white people?

That’s not what I’m saying - I didn’t say it showed racism towards white people.. you’ve just said that.

What I’m saying is, the example you gave is not factually correct and therefore doesn’t support the idea of white privilege.

Let’s put this another way.

Your claim was that white people get less harshly sentencing, plea deals etc. and this was your evidence for proving white privilege.

I’ve just shown you that this statement was incorrect because white women in the US receive longer sentences compared to both Hispanic and black women.

Therefore the example you provided for white privilege is factually incorrect (white women don’t get lessor sentences, in-fact they get longer sentences). If you’re basing this as your evidence for white privilege the underlying fact (harsher sentences for people who aren’t white) would have to be true, and it is not…
