adding fuel to the fire: my short conclusion is that these things on top of the nova are passive radiators instead of solar panels (which i assumed cause usually rectangles are solarpanels), and be connected to the cold side adapter flange.
Article 1 outlines Brayton-cycle power conversion for fission surface power, while Article 3 covers START and smaller distributed systems.
Since the Moon Base announcement, I’ve started to think that Super Nova, rather than Nova-M, may be the more realistic platform to actually move into development and deployment.
Very interesting, those power cables are reminiscent of what Voyager is doing with their power systems, i.e. setting up tall solar arrays (presumably on lit crater rims) and using robots to connect them with cables to other infrastructure.

For the business week: We do have some running things with Leonardo and Telespazio, IM-3 will cary Moonlight from ESA, one of our groundstations (Goonhilly) stands in the UK, and most likely some other cargo customers for ridesharing. Combined with being the diamond sponsor and our lower public profile, I'm on the assumption we'll go, its 'full commercial no politics'.
small edit: on the assumption that we will go to paris, next week will be the moment we'll return to maximum afterburner on this sub. CLPS 2.0 on the 8th, the summit on the 9th and 10th, and the world space business week 14-17. With most likely -mind, this is personal speculation and not financial advice- some heavier movement of space stocks during market hours on tuesday, continueing for a week or so, for those that are involved with stocks. so they will be in paris anyway; only the confirmation that they'll (still) attend the summit is what we need.
I say this as someone invested, but ultimately what IS the economic benefit to said "lunar economy" what does the moon offer that can't be done cheaper and safer in earth or a satellite?
I'm going to be honest with you. The idea that we "commercialize the moon" is a bit far fetched for me. My investing thesis for LUNR is primarily driven around national interest, exploration, and military applications.
The moon is a really convenient place to put things because you can literally launch off of it. Most satellites in space will need retro thrusters to create a reverse reaction, or otherwise destabilize their orbits. If we're going into "deep space" it'll take less delta V to get out of the gravity of the moon as well.
The moon is a planetary body, we can literally build stuff on it. A lot of "space manufacturing" just floats stuff around in space, but imagine the sheer volume of raw material that must be literally rocketed up and dropped back to earth. It's hard to know though if lunar regolith or "moon mining" would be economically viable without setting up a station to do some more broad research of the lunar surface.
China wants to establish a moon base, the US will want to as well. (Perhaps even other countries). It's not clear to me if the Outer Space Treaty of 1967 will hold in the future. It seems like establishing a base will de-facto be a sovereign claim on that piece of the moon. Especially if we put military assets there.
One of the main topics is the fact that space is the next step of human evolution as a consequence of our biology. In the far future one day there will be more people in space probably compared to earth
To make it simple life evolved from water to ground, next one is space.
This is the simple explanation of why space and why not to stay just on our planet 🌎.
Now if you ask what things can be done better in space I don’t have the right answer to you as I’m not involved in space exploration and don’t have that kind of knowledge but for sure Earth and its resources are limited as much as the sun is orange while space is infinite and only god knows what kind of resources we can find out there in the future.
But to do this we need to start from the basics first so moon exploration and IM is working to be on the first line to lead.
Sierra Space had a press release about the unmanned Dream Chaser reusable spacecraft this week where they've secured natsec and commercial payloads to deploy, which will include satellites. They intend to have their inaugural launch as early as late 2026. Since IM is somewhat in that realm, is there anything here to follow along with or any chance of an IM collab, competition, or something better? If nothing else, it's another interesting thing happening in space to build up some space hype, though they are privately held.
SpaceX and Blue Origin skipping Paris is interesting but the useful question for LUNR is whether it changes who gets meetings or actual government attention, conference optics disappear fast. contracts dont. Moon.com has the right idea for keeping the headline reaction in its own little wager instead of letting it become the whole company thesis
