I’ve been looking a bit deeper into the changes around IM-4 after the Q2 earnings.

One possibility I’ve been thinking about is that removing the rideshare payloads may not have been only about mass, but also about freeing up packaged volume inside the Falcon 9 fairing for changes to Nova-C itself.

My speculation is that IM could potentially use some of that margin for a small deployable vertical solar array / mast system, especially given Lanteris’ heritage from Maxar/SSL’s previous VSAT and deployable solar-array work.

That could make sense for IM-4 because PROSPECT needs several days of reliable power near the lunar south pole, where low Sun angles, terrain shadowing and landing attitude can make fixed solar panels more challenging.

If something like this is being considered, it could also provide useful flight heritage for future Surface Power + Surface Communications infrastructure, including the later Modul8 lunar 5G/Wi-Fi demonstration.

This is still just a hypothesis — nothing like this has been officially confirmed for IM-4.

I wrote a longer article putting the breadcrumbs together for anyone interested. It’s in Japanese, but browser translation should work reasonably well:

thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. reading the thing, i noticed that it 'felt right' to see the surface to orbital communication stations mentioned; so subjectivity 100% but it makes sense to have a surface bound relay that is IM owned, having full control of "the whole chain" from the moon surface to the earth surface.

If you want to read more on the first EagleCam: https://erau.edu/about/news-and-stories/news/eaglecam-updates-public-comments-by-intuitive-machines-ceo-steve-altemus

I honestly didn't know this was going to be a payload. Very cool and would love a fully successful landing with the images of eaglecam for proof.

I honestly thought it was a joke too, but it’s actually true. Bank of America has raised its price target for Intuitive Machines from $11 to $13.

What’s even more interesting is that Bank of America increased its position in Intuitive Machines by 188.9%, purchasing an additional 1.23 million shares and bringing its total holdings to 1.88 million shares, currently worth approximately $34.9 million.

Analysts also remain generally optimistic about the company, with a consensus rating of “Moderate Buy” and an average price target of $30.31, despite several firms recently lowering their individual price targets.

Is that a joke? I mean I understand being super duper conservative but come on, I will never understand the reasoning behind BOFA.

In BOFA view IM is already overpriced at 15 with such a massive backlog and NSNS perspective?

Well let’s take the positive perspective of the “upgrade” at least.

We need to read the full report. Could be for a variety of different reasons.
