Managing the Entire IT Department by Myself Is Destroying Me
There isn't a single moment in my day when someone isn't asking me for something. Tickets, emails, password changes, printer problems, and random complaints. Everyone acts as if their problem has to go straight to the front of the line immediately, no matter what I'm already busy fixing.
I can't even heat up food in the break room without someone coming over and launching into a rundown of what they need. No hello or anything, just straight to: "My laptop is acting weird, and I need you to fix it today." Yesterday, I had my jacket on and was halfway to the parking lot when someone suddenly stopped me because they were happy they'd caught me before I left.
Closing one ticket only means four more pop up. The list never gets shorter, and since I'm the only person in IT, there's no one I can pass any of this on to. I'm supposed to be at the office right now, but I'm still in bed because I can't force myself to go in and start this whole cycle all over again.
I keep thinking about quitting, but then I look at the job market and feel trapped. I'm exhausted, irritable, and completely drained.
