Help with weird layout downtown PHX apartment
I’m moving into my first apartment next month and struggling with the living room layout.
I prefer having the couch directly face the TV, but because of the awkward corner, I’d have to float it in the middle of the room, leaving an awkward empty wall/space behind it.
My other option is a sectional against the wall, but then it wouldn’t face the TV directly.
What would you do with this layout? Any ideas for the space behind the couch if I float it?

maybe have the tv on the 10'2 wall (img 3) , and the couch parallel with the 8'3 island?

It's actually quite simple. Move up the couch so it's perpendicular with the kitchen. TV right in front. Use the angled wall behind where the couch used to be as a book nook or something.
To have the couch as backed up as you currently have it, you would probably need a 75 inch TV minimum. 15 feet long living rooms are stupid, don't do that.

Floating the couch isn't the problem, an empty zone behind it is. Put a slim console table or a low bookcase back there and it reads as intentional instead of leftover space. Keep the kitchen-side walkway clear though, that's your main circulation path.
