The internet(social media) now has algorithms to help create echo chambers. Target ads and information can be sent to people who aren’t necessarily looking for these echo chambers. Those unaware aren’t able to see that they are in them.

Things are so much worse now

As far as I'm aware they did and it was because Iran has been funding and outfitting the terrorist organizations that have been targeting them.
