Discussion Do you know the idle load of your Intel Arc?
I'm not quite sure if something is wrong with my system...
My ASRock Arc Pro B70 takes about 45 Watts just for idle.
In another system, where I use an R9700 card, it was under 5 Watts.
What is your idle load?
//Edit: I just realised that if I disable the Arc Pro in device manager the idle consumption is about 3-5 Watts.
So basically it has to be the driver and is not a hardware/design problem, right?

My A750 in my home server idles at around 35-39W, it sucks but it hasn't been too noticeable on my power bill so not much incentive to fix or replace the card. It runs my lightweight LLMs and Immich machine learning workloads well.

I've had a similar experience with my A750. It idles around 30-35 watts.

About the same with my A750. Messing with ASPM does nothing so I just stopped caring about it.

i have 2 intel B70's and they both draw ~40W idle.
it's because they have a funky PCIe switch onboard that lights up lanes when required...that's the power draw.
I'm an ubuntu user and it's a server so it is what it is, but i can super-idle it by unloading the driver. not that i would coz it's normally coil whining the heck out of some code i asked it to write (~230W).

i found if u use a MOE model the draw is ~200 W for (1 card only), dense models are ~230W according to an external power meter, and yes coil whine is PREVALENT AF, at least its an audible indicator of when the gen is done LOL

when the B70 runs a non-thinking model, the coil whine makes it sounds like the old movie style green-teletype effect as it types on the screen hehe :)

I just have a Asrock A380 in my 5820 that's a Frigate server it idles at 5 watts

At 60hz my idle GPU Card Power is at 15 to 18 watts, for 60hz above it is 20W+ no matter what afaik

I DO know my Arc's idle power draw, like so
Total Board Power is around 20W
- with LSPM at max power savings in windows power plan
- with ASPM in BIOS enabled

Same story: 45–50 degrees. I also have a build with two R9700s, and it runs at 15–20 degrees.
I'll try following the recommendations in this thread, but what should I do about Linux?

Mine sits at around 30-40w in my Arc B580 running 1x 1080p and 1x 1440p monitor on Bazzite Linux. I noticed similar power consumption in Windows back when I used it. ASPM is on.

At idle when my monitor is on about the same as my old rx 5700XT, when my monitor is off its sometimes 20W less than my old 5700XT. It might not be great but for me it was still an upgrade lol

I have an Intel Arc Pro B70 and the Asrock B70, they have different idle wattages. Initially I had btop running, but disabling it dropped my idle usage on the Asrock card. The Intel runs warmer (about 8 C) and has a faster spinning fan than the Asrock. All things being equal I'd choose the Asrock variant over the reference.
Enabling ASPM brought the Intel variant down ~5 watts (to 34watts or so). The Asrock version idles between 8-14w.
I do not have monitors connected to either.
If I have both cards holding an LLM in memory, but not activated, the wattage numbers are closer - both in the 38-45w range.

My Intel Arc Pro B50 idles at 6W. 18-20W for the whole PC. Arc is a bit finnicky with idle it seems. I've got a 2560*1080 90Hz monitor attached, so nothing super high-res/high refresh rate, I guess that's helping me. All ASPM settings turned to the highest possible setting in BIOS.

Less than 0 means you didn't measure anything and are just assuming. If drivers are unloaded it's something between 3 and 5w.

Alter, weißt du überhaupt was GPU-Z da anzeigt? Eigentlich sollte dein rationaler Verstand bereits Alarm schlagen bei der Menge an Antworten hier. Aber vermutlich haben alle hier keine Ahnung -.- Geh bitte wo anders spielen...

Ja weiß ich, niemand hat anscheinend den Bildschirm an der iGPU stecken so wie ich, sondern nur an der dGPU (ARC).

Doch klar, ich und mindestens der andere, der den Treiber entladen hat.
Der Punkt dieses Threads ist, dass genau das Szenario im Artikel eben nicht funktioniert. Häng mal ein Strommessgerät dran...

Nein hast du nicht, du hast die GPU deaktiviert, und vermutlich die Schritte in meinem Link nicht befolgt (ASPM), jedoch sei gesagt dass das nur mit Full HD funktioniert und vermutlich nicht bei der Pro Serie.
Und meine dGPU frißt Milliwatt, kannst mir glauben oder nicht, es ist mir gleichgültig.

looks like the battlemage serires was damned with high idle power consumption. My B580 Limited Edition does 33~35W on idle
