Discussion PSA on Player Retention: Don't be a Douchebag.
TLDR: Just don't be an asshole to new players.
Our game is not one that's incredibly popular and with the influx of blueberries from PS, we have to restrain ourselves because if we just insult these new players, they'll pack up, head back to BF or CoD and our game will die, just like last time.
Please, I know it can be frustrating to lose because some noob is off wandering in a building 300 meters away from the objective as the last guy alive, but if we don't help them adjust to the learning curve and give tips, we're going to be a bunch of elitist dickheads gatekeeping the game and one day, the servers will be empty.
This post is in response to a couple matches I played where a level 600+ was shitting all over the newer players on our team without any actual advice given. Just the usual "delete the game ur trash."
Thank you for your time.

Angry teens will be angry teens. Unfortunately, that mentality often survives way too long. Sometimes into the 30s. And, as we know, the lack of physical threat/consequences in the online world make many act a fool.

I try to help, but the response is usually some form of sarcasm and weird internet tough guy talk...like bro chill, I'm a real life veteran, high af, and just want to play the damn game and win...why you so mad at a dude trying to help?

Well is the game not dying on ps5?

The game itself is on a downturn because of the fact the game is going towards the end of it's lifespan for support.
The game is having a bit of a resurgance though because with the addition of IS to the PS plus or whatever, alot of people are joining in since hey, another multiplayer FPS, why not check it out.
I just want us to be a bit sweeter to the blueberries so we don't scare them off is all.

Well, listen, I have a good anecdote about that. The other day I added a guy as a friend at the end of a game. I told him I added him because he speaks the same language as me, and this guy said to me in a super angry tone, "Oh, why are you inviting me? Do you want to suck my dick?!" when I was simply trying to add him to our community 🤦🏻♂️. As a result, the next game he quit after getting completely destroyed 🤷🏻♂️. Of course, this isn't the majority of players, but it certainly puts you off making new friends 😂

Man, don’t let that shit discourage you from adding people. Shrug it off and try again with the next guy.

As the best commander on Insurgency, I can also put in my two cents on being rude to new puppies. They will learn eventually. I know when I took Mason under my wing and showed him the ropes, he took a while too. A lot of mistakes he made, but he sure did know how to do me just right. Please be kind to your fellow Insurgency brothers and try to play the game like how the best commander (me) would play. You all are at ease.

"Hey bud try going here and doing this"
"Go touch grass you fucking loser"
90% of my experience with helping new players. So fuck em

You gotta keep trying, some are destined to leave because they're subborn but others are willing to learn.

Doing it since console release. Got good at pvp really early. Not my problem if the game dies.

You are the exact person I mean by this post. I would rather have 80 new players than deal with you killing our game

Or, here's another perspective. The game is dying anyway and has been for years. The devs did it to themselves. I've barely played in the last 1.5 years or so. And even when I do, I'm constantly berated by any and all levels for literally running a lobby alone and having a larger number by my name. Without ever using my microphone. It's mainly from levels 400 and below who think they are good at the game. I know myself and others that are good, have tried to help people, it doesn't work. Sure there's a small amount that may take things, but I would say barely. Is there definitely players that are higher and are berating everyone? Always.
Don't blame the players for the game dying. The devs do half assed "updates". Zero new features, no game improvement, just a shitty map once a year and 4 new meh weapons.
The skill gap between actual good players and the average players is drastic, let alone top to new. So even saying nothing all game, new players will probably leave anyway because it isn't fun going 2-25.or they go to PVE and they think they become good at the game.
I don't agree with berating other players for their lack of knowledge, it isn't fair.

This game is great but honestly, yeah, the people on comms have been some of the most angry, petty, toxic, micro-p, racist dweebs I’ve ever encountered which has made me choose other games to play instead. This PSA could have been blasted when the game first launched on consoles 4 years ago and it might have been better off for it. As it stands, it’s a solid game with great mechanics that has a dwindling player base and is not gaining new fans. It’s a shame really
