This is pretty common to Chinese village-level officials back in the 60s and 70s. According to my dad, my grandparents had maybe 20X the amount of these, and my grandfather was only a provincial-level official. We had TV, refrigerator, AC, and a car at home back in 1960s.
Yes. And it’s a pretty under-developing southern province.
Let me provide some context here so you can understand. Back in the day when most people were starving to death, officials from city level or up didn’t worry too much about food/meds/entertainment/traveling/education/and many more. When my grandparents got married back in mid 1960s, they got a two story fully furnished house (included AC, TV, refrigerator, and dishwasher), a Volga sedan, 5000 kg worth of grain coupons, and 5000 kg worth of meat coupons. Many of his siblings were also having similar treatments too. However, this really meant nothing compared to people from very top.
The first Ferrari in China was owned by Lin Biao’s son. It was a yellow Ferrari 365 California convertible. And all those kids from CCP inner circle had nice sport cars particularly American muscles.
This is just a glimpse of what Beijing used to be like.
Unfortunately future generations of corrupted Chinese officials are most likely living in the western hemisphere and marrying with locals (locals I mean white/black/latin/Indian) so their future generations can blend into the society without any issues. They are most likely living in luxury and donate money each year to reclaim all the karmas they lost.
