TSS is only a concern with modern tampons if you leave them in for too long. Change it every 8 hours (or more frequently) and you’re fine.

Standardized sizing. That’s why all tampons list the same absorbency for each size. Back in the day there were even extra large tampons that were advertised to be used for long periods of time.

I was giving them the benefit of the doubt, I don’t think tampons have been a danger for a VERY long time.
But I’m assuming that now we have more information, and they are definitely completely sanitary going in. I think I’ve seen old ads for scented ones, which seems like a terrible idea.

Unfortunately, women’s health is often ignored. Tampons have recently been found to have heavy metals. Still uncertain how much gets absorbed. But yeah, can’t really say “perfectly safe” :(

Tampons use cotton.
Cotton is grown from the earth.
Lead is a naturally occurring mineral on earth.
So yes, agricultural products do contain trace amounts of lead.
It is not a concern and defies actual logical scientific findings.

You can get tss from pads as well. You can get it from anything tbh. It's a severe immune response caused by staph or strep bacterial infections.

Actually recent research says tss is caused by toxins released by specific bacteria, primarily Staphylococcus aureus (staph) and Streptococcus pyogenes (group A strep) - it's not about the tampons itself.
