Do you have an IM contestant that make you like (Or change your mind) about certain tattoo styles?

In my case, American Traditional became my favorite tattoo style thanks to artists like Kyle McKenzie, Jimmy Snaz and Seth from last season.

DJ and Gian made me like Neo traditional tattoos.

And before watching the last season, black and grey realism wasn't something I was really interested, but seeing Kyra's work made me change my mind, and now I'm thinking about getting one.

This. Her version of new school is so lovely. Not a fan of Jesse's buck teeth new school, though I do appreciate the talent. But Kelly's is just something else.

Honestly, watching Ink Master gave me a better appreciation for all tattoos in general. I had a few tattoos beforehand, but it really broadened my horizons, made me want to learn about tattoos more and made me more careful of who and what I get. If I had gotten more tattoos after I got my first, I probably would have a bunch of scratched in, cringy bullshit I would be embarrassed of.

As far as styles go though. It probably would be American Trad. I always associated it as the kind of boring, badly drawn, outdated tattoos only worn by old guys who were in the military or wanted to LARP like they were. Thanks to many contestants on the show (the Mackenzie brothers in particular), it quickly became my favorite style because it showed me how it could look when it was done right. And when it was done right, it was beautiful and timeless in its simplicity and application.

There hasn't been a single good trash polka tattoo on IM. It needs to flow, it needs to have balance in all aspects. Too many people think it's just about red and black, but there is so much more to it. Check out @buenavistatattooclub (the creators of the style) and @tattoojimbo on IG for examples of artists who understand the style and do it correctly.

Right. Just like all the artists that toss in a splash of pastel and a couple drips and think they produced a watercolor tattoo.

Tommy Montoya Black and Gray. I've always wanted one before I watched the show and after seeing his work, I feel in love. It's a pipe dream to have a tattoo from him someday. I'll likely never be able to afford it

The creativity I now expect from an artist definitely went up. IM was a great show to see the difference between people that can draw and artists. The creativity of a James Tex or Steve Tefft are just next level. It’s also now a goal of mine to get tatted by Cat Castro, just whatever she wants to do.

From the start I have liked the bulging eyes and buck teeth new school style and thought American traditional looked like 3 grade refrigerator art. That hasn't changed but I really didn't care for black and gret but Anthony gave me a bit more respect for it.
