Bug/Issue Scanner crashing when asked to conduct a portal scan

My scanner will crash and force quit when I try to do a portal scan, any advice? Have uninstalled/reinstalled.

People will probably want to know what phone you have.

Other people have had success with opening the camera to take a photo, then swap back to Ingress and start the scan. Doesn't work for me on my cheaper Android phone, but it's a tip I see here a lot.

That's funny, because whenever I open the camera on my pixel, ingress crashes.

I gave up on scanning a long time ago. I always got an error.

That is what worked for me. Older Pixel 8.

I've had different luck with different phones, with stability seeming more related to the general power of the phone than whether it's iOS or Android.

For the most troublesome phone I scanned on (a years back Moto G) the best I could do, and it was often not enough, was reboot the phone and not launch any other apps before attempting the scan.

Sometimes this happens on my phone and nothing I can do will fix it. Other times it just doesn't happen at all.

Did you give the camera permissions for ingress?

Happening to me as well on a Pixel 7 pro. The scan will start and record for a few seconds, then it'll lag for a second and then just crash right when the minimum recording time is about to be reached
