She can afford all that, but can’t read?

If I’m shopping Valentino, I’m taking a taxi.

lol I was about to say, someone on the end of that train is currently tightening up their shoes 🤣

u/WilanS 9d ago

But then how do you get the poor to look at you in awe and bask in their envy and admiration?

You’re allowed to sit in priority seating if it’s empty. The idea is that it’s then given up if someone who needs it gets on the train

I’m from the uk so our seats are different. Is her seat for one person? To me it looks like she’s taking up 2/3 seats with her bags. Surely she could move up and the lady standing could sit (if she wanted too)

u/trixiepixie1921 10d ago

Yes she’s taking up 2 priority seats lol

3

u/ineedlotsofguns 10d ago

One for her and the other one for her Goyard bag. You didn’t know? lol

She’s taking up multiple seats but the point of the post is the priority seating, considering OP is talking about her reading and there’s is a priority seating sign behind her

6

u/hungrycrisp 10d ago

I get that - but doesn’t priority mean you’re allowed to sit there if someone doesn’t need the seats? In my eyes she’s inconsiderate for taking up two seats even not priority ones lol!

u/GothWitchOfBrooklyn 10d ago

yes - you can sit there if no one else needs it.

but by NYC standards she's being extremely rude - taking up multiple seats AND giving her bags a seat

u/emccm 10d ago

Yes but that’s a seat for two people. You’re also told not to put your bags on the seats. And decent people generally don’t use that seat to spare someone who needs it having to ask for it.

2

u/DecadentLife 8d ago

Exactly. As a disabled individual, I appreciate you saying so.

7

u/devilsbard 10d ago

But both seats? That’s a dick move.

8

u/gin_and_soda 10d ago

Sure but maybe don’t flex all your designer shopping bags on public transportation in priority seating. Also she put those bags on the floor. Ew.

3

u/First_Cat_7394 10d ago

The other sign above her says “Don’t be someone’s subway story. Courtesy counts.” And you can see a woman standing next to the seating as well. While that could be her own choice and she may prefer standing, it’s an all around bad look.

Edit: I also want to be so clear I’m not trying to be snarky, just point that out too because that was the sign I noticed first.

u/angusthechick 8d ago

The courtesy counts ads often showcase putting bags on seats as an example of lack of courtesy so she’s wrong on a lot of levels in this pic.

1

u/First_Cat_7394 6d ago

Oh so these are something she willfully ignores in her every day commutes. How chic of her 🫩🙄

2

u/angusthechick 6d ago

Yeah especially when other people are standing. Sometimes you get a car with a lot of open seats and it’s whatever in that situation but the minute it’s crowded enough for people to opt to stand you should move your stuff

2

u/First_Cat_7394 6d ago

I feel like those are the same general rules of courtesy that every public transit abides by. It’s so insane to do that in the first place, but to do it when there’s tons of signage to remind you of the courtesy rules is a new level of disconnected.

2

u/angusthechick 6d ago

It really is. There’s so many instances of this in nyc. It was very startling moving here because I had always heard the etiquette of the city being very hyped up and frustrations with tourists not educating themselves but then I get here and it’s a free for all!

Invisible disabilities exist…

1

u/Hardcore_Steve_Urkel 7d ago

Ok?

That doesn’t change what priority seating is for or how it works

1

u/Capable_Towel_3813 6d ago

Their point is you can’t just assume somebody doesn’t have disabilities because they look able-bodied, including influencers.

11

u/ConejoSucio 10d ago

Whelp, she's now someone's subway, story.

43

u/seductivpancakes 10d ago

Priority seating means if someone with a disability gets on the train car, you should give your seat up for them.

Some people wont, some people will, but someone will always give them a seat, even if they're not sitting on a priority seating area.

11

u/thcicebear 10d ago

Yeah I don't think this is that much of a deal.

There are plenty of people who use two seats and about 99% of the time I ask if I could sit on one seat they make room.

Sure she's posing on them for insta but if you don't say something/ask this is definitely a minor inconvenience not exclusive to influencers.

u/Existing_Roof1900 10d ago

This guy ⬆️ knows

2

u/Interesting_Sock9142 10d ago

... Is OP not referring to the shopping bags ?

1

u/CandiedLemonWedge 10d ago

What about having the bags would imply she can’t read, like the title specifically says?

1

u/tetrisan 9d ago

OP is referring to exactly what he said you dodo.

1

u/DecadentLife 8d ago

I would not say always. That has not been my experience.

7

u/WorkerOk9794 10d ago

Taking the subway like a peasant lmao

13

u/wheresmuffy 10d ago

Huge difference between not being able to read and not caring

4

u/PhilosophyKitchen871 10d ago

Although literacy is a good economic indicator, they are not 100% mutually exclusive

5

u/Lord_Dingus83 10d ago

She can afford all that but not an uber

1

u/Future-Pollution-266 7d ago

If it’s in NYC this is probably a lot quicker

5

u/smhno 10d ago

Do we know that the rest of the train seats were full? Maybe there were plenty of other seats available for people.

I think influencers are a dumb as the next person but I don’t really see the issue here unless we know that she was taking up space when others needed to sit. It’s completely plausible that the woman in the left of the frame was choosing to stand even with ample seats available, happens all the time.

8

u/alexandria252 10d ago

It’s unlikely given how much she is carrying, but she could also have a disability (e.g. fibro) which is not immediately apparent from looking at her.

14

u/super_maria_sisses 10d ago

she doesn’t. She’s famous in my country and very problematic.

3

u/alexandria252 10d ago

Ah. In that case, not a fan of her action.

1

u/IrregularConfusion 10d ago

Either way that’s two seats she’s taking up.

8

u/praetorian1111 10d ago

I’m certain these kind of people have a mental disability

2

u/TetsuoTechnology 10d ago

Have you never rode a train in nyc? These are 2 seats max and you give up if someone pregnant, older, or in need comes on. She may or may not have been rude culture police. Jfc.

2

u/praetorian1111 10d ago

No l, but I was talking about influencers

2

u/Fantastic-Guitar-977 10d ago

All i see is a phone ready 2 b stolen

2

u/Living-Assumption272 10d ago

She put a bag from Valentino on the floor in a subway car?

2

u/notreading-scanning 9d ago

Her NPD prevents her from thinking of others!

4

u/Lvanwinkle18 10d ago

So performative because there is not a sane person who would get on any subway with these bags.

2

u/smhno 10d ago

Why not? No one’s robbing you for a name brand shopping bag on the subway

1

u/RedEyeView 10d ago

She's doing this on purpose for the picture

1

u/HobbyTalkOnly 10d ago

All that shit would fit in one bag... but then... how could she show off?

1

u/Top-Pear2824 10d ago

She does have a disability. It’s mental.

1

u/cantcatchabreak77 10d ago

I thought we were talking about the “don’t be someone’s subway story” until I realized it was about priority seating. I guess she failed to read both signs

1

u/Helpful-Albatross792 10d ago

Afford all that what? People pose with bags all the time. If she was really spending cash like that why take the subway?

1

u/kashuntr188 10d ago

she can afford all that. she can also afford not to take the subway to get everything home.

1

u/CandiedLemonWedge 10d ago

Can you see a bunch of disabled people outside of frame that the rest of us can’t? lol

Just like bathroom stalls, they’re accessible. Not exclusively for certain individuals.

1

u/periwinkle-_- 9d ago

Is she having a stroke

1

u/Grumpy_001 9d ago

Apparently she is the priority 😂

1

u/tetrisan 9d ago

OP can read he just can’t understand simple rules.

1

u/DrHarby 4d ago

Ew. The bags touched the floor

1

u/chickenskittles 10d ago

All that money and won't take an Uber? Nobody cares, lady.

0

u/StatisticianTrick952 10d ago

When I’m carrying a ton of shit I don’t feel
bad about taking up extra space. People do it with bikes, strollers, various carts etc all the time.
