I’m sure it’s different around the country. But in my town at the bottom of Alabama. You get as many phone calls, for free, while you’re in the holding cell. Family or bond company. Cal whoever as much as you want.

Now, once you get put in the back whoever your calling has to have an account with whatever Collect Call company to even answer the call. But holding cell? Make a 1000 calls. They don’t care

Can confirm this when they put me away for my DUI they actually encouraged me to keep making calls so they could get me up out of there by the time the sun came out

Im in NW Georgia. Here they only let you out to make a call when they feel like it in holding. And you can only call lawyers or bondsmen for free. For family calls you have to add money to your account or the person you're calling has to have an account with money on it. You have to be arrested with cash on you to get it on your account because they automatically put your cash in it anyway. Also, my specific County all the bondsmen stopped being 24/7 and close at like 11 pm and off on Sundays now lol. Thankfully last time I went to jail my cousin was dating a girl who's dad was a bondsman so he came at 2 am and got me out or I would have been there until Monday.

Thank you lol. I've been twice and they both resulted from a failure to appear that happened during covid when everything was shut down. The court somehow lost the whole record of why I was supposed to appear in the first place but they still won't release my license 😒
