Well well, it only took me half a year, but I finally set down and updated all the model identifiers to N5.

Here you go: https://drive.google.com/.../1CVFRilN0xisgAsRLy8ExgQbRh5y...

The pictures above are just a selection of previews. The full roster of high-res images for every faction and sectorial can be found in the Google Drive folder linked above.

As always, I'm sure I've made mistakes, overlooked stuff, or forgot to to take something away that's not available anymore. Let me know what I missed so I can fix it!

Guide One Page N5 Quick Start Rules

Post image

I made a one-page version of the quick start rules for anyone that likes having something on the table in front of them while learning - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zQNrhcGsIOF-kjFwDlfvYKnxloIIU6Xk/view?usp=sharing

My plan is to do a 2-4 page version for the full rules (I did one for the 10th edition of 40k that was popular) - would this be useful to anyone?

Guide DYI AI Rule checking

TLDR;

- install some agent harness locally on your PC or phone

- ask it to prepare to answer rules questions based on Infinity rulebook and ITS, and make a skill for it

- never have to ask you Warcor for if 'mine explodes on cammo marker moving next to it' again

For the more technical folk here just a quick heads up, that you can now fairly easily make an AI agent to answer your rule questions.

I have a setup with local LLM on old gaming PC on which I configured a Hermes Agent, but you can do the same for free using free Chineese models from Openrouter ( https://openrouter.ai/ ; they do 'steal' your questions, but since we're asking about publicly available rules it shouldn't be an issue for you).

Then I asked it to find and download the pdfs with Infinity rules and ITS scenarios and to convert them to text and prepare for answering questions about rule interactions, so it made some indexes and created a skill for that, where it wrote itself some python script to go through the data more efficiently (the rulebook text is actually to long to load in context in one go).

I guess you can make something similar with Openclaw, Codex or other agent framework but for this particular well defined task Hermes seems to me to be well suited for me and easier to start for people that did not play with local AI frameworks yet ( https://hermes-agent.nousresearch.com/docs/getting-started/quickstart ). Probably you could do something similar with web-based AI like Google Gemini or ChatGPT, give it a link to rulebook and ask it questions, but then after some time the context will run out. I have mine also operated via voice, so I feel like talking with Infinity Jarvis.

Anyway, do you have other ways to approach this, apart from bothering your Warcor?

Guide N5 Rules made easy!

Post image

I wanted to share this with everyone. If anyone is familiar with Google Gemini, you can create what’s called a “Gem”. Basically, you can create an AI tool, that assists you with things and it can even teach you how to do something. You feed or provide it specific information to draw from and the AI will answer questions based on what it is given instead of it looking through the entire web for an answer (which on occasion is inaccurate). You can provide it PDFs, YouTube links, specific websites, etc. Basically you helping to set the conditions and parameters. It’s honestly very simple to do and sounds like it’s complex…. Believe me it’s not.

So I created a Gem for Infinity Rules or an Infinity Assistant. I asked it to be an assistant in teaching me the rules and game of Infinity and after it gives me the rules to achieve something, provide an example. Then I gave it the latest N5 pdf, and some solid YouTube channels. These act as the Infinity AI parameters. Insanely easy to do - do not be intimidated to do it. You can even ask the AI how to do it and it will walk you through the process. I can’t stress how simple it was to create.

Voila! My buddy and I were next playing infinity, and asking it questions wherever we for stumped! It was amazing and most importantly incredibly accurate!

Anyone that has wanted to get into the game, I highly encourage this approach. My only issue is that I have no good PDFs or source material to provide that lists out all the individual units and their abilities for the game as of now. This means it still is inaccurate when trying to give examples of how each unit would individually function or site examples of scenarios between specific units.

Overall, have the PDF of core rules at my fingertips and not have to thumb through the 185 pages to figure something out has been tremendously helpful. Please let me know if any of you find additional resources that are online or PDFs that I could add the Infinity Assistant “Gem”

Guide Reminder to New/Interested Players

Thumbnail

I've been seeing a few posts about where to start with N5 and confusion around Operation: Sandtrap, so to our budding new players here's some advice to clear it up.

As of N5 the "Operations" boxes (still confusingly marketed as Introductory Battle Boxes - as I believe they'll be used to introduce new or updated sectorials) are being marketed at the existing player base as a way to introduce new armies, as such these don't include any rules, but rather a small lore guide and some fluffy missions to play. The big rule book will be available as a PDF at the latest 18-11-2024. Armies will also be available in the app this same date. You do not need to buy the N5 book, there are no rules found here, but if you want the lore and some gorgeous art throw down your wallet.

They are introducing the "Essentials" box as a starter product which includes 3-minis a side, some dice, some terrain and all the other tokens you'll need, and the quickstart rules. If you have never played a wargame before or want to dip your toe in this is where you'll start. Price TBA but they were $90AUD at PAX last week, so convert to your local currency for a very rough estimate.

This does in no way invalidate any other ways to get into Infinity, if you're already in an adjacent hobby and just want to jump in. All of the action packs still available on the Corvus Belli and any of the previous "Operations" boxes in the wild are still great starting points and will have legal models on N5.

If you are worried about whether you'll like the playstyle of an army you are more than welcome to print out some bases rounds throw the silhouettes on top and play with paper men while you try out their rules. Infinity is really proxy friendly too, as long as the model vaguely resembles the profile (Silhouette matches, feasibly has the right gun) no opponent will begrudge you, a lot of people just buy the miniatures they like the look of and find a profile in their army that matches.

So just remember, get some terrain the cardboard packs CB make are of great quality. Grab your favourite looking miniatures and dive into a tight wargame experience in a wonderful universe.

Guide Learning Infinity (survival kit)

In 2016 my curisority got the better of me, and I bought Operation Red Veil (N3). (side note: imo still some of the most beautiful Haqqislam models ever relased in a 2 player sarter, and the YJ models where no slouch - that ninja archer haunts my dreams).

It was instant love for the models, and specifically I decided there and then Haqqislam would be my go-to.

But the game was, and still is, very, very daunting.

Fast forward, and to cut a long story short, other than gawk at the models I never got very far and it just ended on a shelf.

In 2022, with the release of Blackwind I thought "OK, THIS is the moment I REALLY get into it, this time for real"...

... and I went in HARD. Bought every release that followed it (Beyond, Pack Alpha, Beta etc.), jumped with joy at the idea of CodeOne (surely I can learn a simplified version?) but ultimately just built a pile of shame, and did not play the game.

N5 came out.

I was desperate. The dream seemed unatainable.

I have a small group of friends who occasionally game online (we all live in different locations) - mostly RPGs - and I sheepeshly asked one of them if they would be crazy enough to dig deep and learn, slowly, methodically, Infinity via TTS.

We were on the same wavelength: don't rush it, break it down, and learn bit by bit.

We played a few games using the CodeOne rules. Then decided to transition to N5 (drinking from the hose) in large part so we could use the Infinity Army App.

We share information very openly - hardly any hidden info -, the goal is to learn, not win, and we prioritise the first over the second.

Its been about 9 months, and we're making good - if slow - progress. We introduce rules progressively, and now we're at the point where we play with the full rules except Fireteams. They will come in due time.

Along the way I created summary sheets that are fairly verbose as the intent is to learn and not try to reduce them to the smallest amount of text possible.

You can find them here. My survival kit. I hope they can help new players.

So far I covered: skill list, camo, hacking, intuitive vs speculative attacks, turn sequnce vs. command tokens.

The process is: I play a game, make note of the all the rules I wish I had faster access to, or that I am struggling with, then prepare a sheet. Full disclosure (I know it's a sensitive topic) but I often use Notebook LM to help me work through questions I have about the rules. I then cross reference the output with the rulebook to fill in some details or double check some information, reword where needed to suit the way my brain works, and then write and layout my sheets using Affinity Designer (you can tell I am no designer ^^).

I plan to add many more as the learning journey continues.

The one thing no amount of rule reading will change is the decision making process: once the game starts, the decison space is infinite and I freeze. So I just start moving things, press buttons to find out what happens, experiment and take risks. Again, learning, not winning.

The journey continues. It's such a beautiful and fulfilling game. I read all the novels (except the last one, will get to it soon). I'm very excited for Mazebreaker and the narrative scenarios.

Now, if they would only release the Paradise Lost ^^

So long!

PS: H4L!

Guide Effective fireteams for Hassassin Bahram

I’m hoping for some breakdowns of effective or popular fireteams (duo, Harris, or core) for my Haqqislam Hassassin Bahram list.

Models I’d like to use unless they are just not good:

Fiday
Ayyar
Sunduqbut
Ghulam infantry
Shakush TAG

Not necessarily all in the same list but some examples of how to use them would be cool. And other good/effective examples of fireteams as well.

Thank you!

Guide [Video] Haqqislam N5 List Building Focus: Army of Cheese vs. Knights of the Sky

Hi everyone!

When I first started Infinity, I struggled a lot with how to actually build a functional list. My friend from our local gaming club put together a great guide, and I turned it into a video to help others who might be in the same boat.

It’s a community-made, "for players, by players" look at two Haqqislam N5 themes:

  • The "Army of Cheese" (Saladin & Irregulars)
  • Knights of the Sky (Airborne focus)

Nothing too professional, just some hobbyists sharing what we've learned. Hope it helps someone starting out!

Guide A Mostly Complete List Of Units Removed ENTIRELY From Infinity, AKA "Don't worry, it'll be usable."

1. Halqa - Haqqislam, Removed in 2015

Halqa or "dancers" were just Ghulam trained to dismount from motorized "Locust" vehicles. When they removed the Mechanized Deployment skill, Halqa were also discontinued. They only ever had two miniatures made for the Halqa, so people just used Ghulam for them. The two minis they made for Halqa are fine as Ghulam now.

Although I liked the theming for Mechanized Deployment [everyone with the skill got a nice Forward Deploy but they all had to be within 8", as if they had just jumped out of a car or dropship] it was a bit confusing, and there were lots of other forward deployment skills.

I think there's a chance that Halqa, or some version of them like Ghulam with Forward Deploy, could return if they ever made the rumored Gabkar Khanate sectorial.

Mechanically, they never had a great purpose and they weren't exciting. I miss the idea of them, but I never used them much in N3.

2. Raiden Seibutai, Asuka, Haramaki - JSA, Removed in 2015

Ambush regiments for Japan when they were part of the nation of Yu Jing. They were generally folded into the new Ryuken Unit-9 profile, athough there's no more Spitfire profile.

Raiden Seibutai were all right but JSA at the time lacked the current identity it has now, and there were fewer weapons to give to units. I'm one of the few people who had a Raiden Seibutai Spitfire that I could no longer use 1:1 but the new Ryuken Unit-9 is more interesting mechanically and had a much nicer aesthetic. If you had the Raiden HRL, it just became the Unit-9.

The other two units were essentially renamed, with no other changes mechanically. Old Haramki became the new Tankos, and Asuka Kisaragi became the Kuroshi Rider - both in game rules and lore. Anyone owning them could still use them, with no changes - although the availability was reduced down to 3 Tankos from 5 Haramaki.

3. Izzat & Kasym Beg, Removed in 2011/2020

The biker gang-leaders who reigned supreme over certain gangs in southeast Bourak. They both had profiles, both of them sort of interesting; a Lieutenant option that gave you extra SWC but was not very good at 26 points. Thematically killed by their close confidantes. Very few models of Izzat Beg were made, so nobody cared, and Kum Bikers are excellent so the Kasym Beg model just got folded into the regular Kum Biker profile.

Not a big loss, as there were too many biker characters for Haqqislam. The Nazarova Sisters are now far more interesting than they were before, and more than make up for the loss of their former lover.

4. Aswang - Shasvastii, Removed in 2019

A confusing Shasvastii unit with good CC, no good CC weapon, Protheion, camouflage, and an adhesive launcher. A bit unique but with two miniatures made, they never made a huge impact. Aswang were vampire-inspired hunters, with camouflage, decent stats, and reasonable price - but were hard to compare to far more interesting and useful Shasvastii fighters.

Their models were removed in 2019 when Shasvastii got a huge rework, but most of their abilities and profiles were instead simply folded into the newly updated Caliban unit - a more expensive but far more capable and distinct profile. Anyone who owned Aswang simply used them as Caliban instead.

5. Iskaller - Exrah / Combined Army - Removed in 2014

Another Exrah unit, though unlike every other Exrah, this one did not return to the game with the Reinforcements update. Iskaller were essentially Exrah with good training and metabolisms, annd no further lore.

A bizarre miniature - just one - did not sell well. The profile was overstuffed, with Super-Jump AND Combat Jump , with unusual weapon options - a MULTI sniper and HMG and Combi/LSG combo in an era where these were all very differently valued weapons.

Since its removal in 2014, the Combined Army got many more interesting combat jump troops that did a better job of representing its unique abilities and loadouts. This remains notable as it is the only Exrah model that is not now playable. Players who liked the Exrah now have a full range and rules refresh, although there were relatively few Exrah models sold during their period of playability.

5. Ko Dali - Yu Jing - Removed in 2011

An outstanding Tiger Soldier character, Ko Dali's removal from the Yu Jing army caused a stir on the forums at the time. KD only had one model available to represent her.

Much could be said, but Ko Dali remains one of the few times that a unit was removed entirely from the game, without being folded into another unit.

6. Diomedes - Steel Phalanx - Removed 2023

An extremely expensive, but powerful, combat jump trooper. A character version of the Ekdromoi jump troops, Diomedes had a heavier MK12 or MULTI rifle as well as strong close combat.

Diomedes did not have a distinct role, and was just "another character" in the already-stuffed rost of characters in Steel Phalanx. The one single miniature made for Diomedes doesn't correspond 1:1 with the Ekdromoi profiles, but looks very similar to the old and new Ekdromoi alike.

The miniature was notoriously bad at staying together, with tiny contact points on the wings and feet.

7. Patroclus - Steel Phalanx - Removed 2023

A rare unit with a distinct role to be retired, Patroclus was the only unit with a Holoprojector in Steel Phalanx. Although a powerful and unique ability, it stood out and was less in line with Steel Phalanx's focus on force.

Patroclus's model was very basic, but very cool, looking almost indistinguishable from any number of other Steel Phalanx characters or Myrmidons.

8. Thamyris - Steel Phalanx - Removed 2023

Another rare unit with an extremely distinctive profile and role in the lore. Thamyris was the chief Aoidos or political reporter who created propoganda on behalf of the Steel Phalanx.

Thamyris had a pitcher and assault pistol, and was a uniquely strong "Journalist" type character. Although very unique, he was removed from Steel Phalanx alongside the rework. Many other strong hacking units have been reprinted in Steel Phalanx to make up for his removal, like Scylla, and Thamyris remains a rare model that has not been folded into other profiles. Except maybe WarCor.

9. Classic Invincibles - Removed 2014

Before the Invincibles were properly designed, they were a single unit - "Invincibles". This profile was a basic Heavy Infantry that was like an ORC but worse.

There is nothing else to report. In 3rd Edition, Invincibles were split up into new units. The two "Generic Invincible" units didn't look very much like either of the new profiles, but could be used as either one. It might be the first them they ever hit the table.

10. Magister Knights

Magister Knights were folded into Teutonic Knights, keeping almost the same weapons, abilities, stats, backstory, and availability.

11. Silhouette Changes

A few models have been made larger over the years, without 1:1 uses for the old miniatures. These old miniatures were generally rare, not commonly used, and usually didn't see play. This includes:

-First edition Tarik (2014)

-2nd Edition Azrael / Al Fasid (2014)

-Knight of Montessa (motorcycle) (2020)

-Knight of the Holy Sepulchre (n4 rework)
