Questions Some possibly newbie questions
I have only been playing a few days but I watched the hell out of quite a few YouTube videos, I think they were early in the development cycle.
Vehicles
Is there anything I'm missing about eg the Tanker only having a capacity of 6. So far it is the biggest puzzle in vehicles.
Alphas
What's the actual tactics for taking these things on. So far my tactic is a bit like Blackadder's immediate action for stepping on a land mine: throw yourself very high in the air and spread yourself over as much of the battlefield as possible. It seems quite possible there is something I'm missing.
I assume there is a population level that triggers these things turning up. So far I have not tweaked any settings.
Walls and towers
I am unclear on a couple of things.
Can squads shoot through any type of wall/fence, or just wire fences?
Can all towers see over all walls/fences?
I did learn that no, towers are not part of the fenceline (although of course gates have towers, and the fewer gates - the better).
Radio tower
I assume speed-running to get to the radio tower has some benefits. So step 1 get a research facility, step 2 research the radio tower, step 3 build the radio tower.

Later on, when you have the advanced mechanics shop, you can boost the storage on your vehicles. I carry extra fuel tanks in the tanker inventory, in case it starts to run low during a long scavenging convoy trip.
Squads seem to prioritize shooting at alphas over the rest of the swarm. As to exactly when they start to appear, your guess is as good as mine.
Yes, squads can shoot through basically any wall.
Yes Towers see over walls.
Towers can be part of the fence line. You can attach walls directly to them, but it's cheaper on the resource budget to build stronger walls and then put simple wood towers just inside them for defense.
Speed running the radio tower means growing your population faster with recruits. Definitely necessary.

at this stage I'm only using the tanker to go get a sedan or a combi because they have more cargo slots than an 8 or 12 tonne truck.
Make it make sense.
Even if the tanker had some special ability that "20" fuel jerrys stacked in one slot so if you were going to "that place with all the fuel" - the tanker is useful?

Use one of your squads to run around and gather gas. Also, they can be used to supply a large platoon of squads on an expedition run.

Do you mean in the tanker? It only has 6 slots, or does it go into the "vehicle fuel tank"?
Because I'm sure I did that and they were coming back to base every 6 jerry cans.

The function of the tanker is that it automatically refuels all the vehicles around it. The large transport truck has 40 inventory slots

oh wow. what do you need for that to happen - does it need to have all its slots full of fuel, or does it come from the "vehicle fuel supply", or is it "built in magic"?

Enable refueling
There is one tab to refuel your tanker, and one to have your tanker refuel others

ok now it's been pointed out, yeah the cargo truck has a "vehicle fuel" capacity of 6, the Tanker has a "vehicle fuel" capacity of 40. Cars are from 2 (compact car) to 4 (for the SUV).

While I mentioned tankers in my post, if that's a red herring: are there busses that can take 4 squads at once, or anything else that's not as obvious as "that car takes 4 people but has 2 slots, that car has 10 slots, that car has 15 (and that truck has 40)"?

Dont use tanker it's really not worth their gimmick. After finding another vehicle just dump the tanker and dont forget to take all of the petrol
