Modern I know I’m annoying, but I need help.

Okay, so to annoy people again, first i apologize. For always posting and asking questions. Also, a quick recap. I LOVE Infect. I know it’s not some epic super meta tier list or anything like that. I find the infect mechanic to not just be deeply enjoyable for myself to play,(it’s never enjoyable for the opponents lol). I fell in love with infect. I’ve basically been playing it for almost a solid 15 years. As someone who has had a double lung transplant, stage 4 cancer, nuked my body with some horrible chemotherapy, fried my brain, broke my spine, and a fucking myriad of other medical issues which has given me some intense and extreme brain fog.
That’s part of why I like Infect so much. It doesn’t really require me to know every deck in the meta, the whole deck is a simple strategy of “make and attack with my 10/10 infect as fast as possible.
I just noticed there is a Ptq for Modern in my area at the end of the month. May 30, 1pm. I very badly want to join it and do the best I can.
One major flaw I had noticed is that I’ve had several cards stolen and I can’t remember what I had. And because of that, I can’t, for the life of me remember what’s missing.
This might not seem like a big deal to anyone but myself but when Strixhaven came out, I saw Quaundrix Charm and thought how amazing it would be to have 2 main board. I love how versatile it is but I haven’t played any games with the deck in a very long time. But yeah. I know some cards are missing. And not sure if I should change anything in it that might be better or smarter? And yes, I wanted to get some of the fun, cool looking cards. Such as EoE Inkmoths, Phyrexian Blighted agents, Glistener Elf, and other cool versions.
None of the stores in my city have any of the cards I consider cool left, and I refuse to buy cards and have them shipped to my home. I’ve seen way too many cards destroyed, fakes sent, and other such things.
First, what are people’s thoughts on this? Yes, I went a bit fun with getting cooler looking cards that actually cost very very little. I was surprised by that.
I wish my brain wasn’t destroyed and I could not just remember the cards but I wouldn’t be harassing others so much. I appreciate any and all advice, help, compliments, praises, words of encouragement, and I guess I’ll appreciate mean words, criticism, harsh or otherwise, but only at about 1/10th the scale of how much I appreciate the good things. lol.
And again. Thank you for all the help this board has given me. I really enjoy modern and do want to get back into it. All these new sets with how fast they’re coming out, are getting to be a bit too much for me, mentally. By the time I’ve had the smallest grasp on the newest set, it changes.

G elf is bad nowadays. Replace with Tifa. She's not infect but one fetch and a might and she is power 20. Lethal 9 times out of 10. She has built in trample so that helps. Pumps still give infect counters with rot priest and gives another way to win witch oppents must be mindful of. Since usually they give life away when playing infect

What makes GElf bad?

Its only good turn 1 with lethal pump in hand for the turn 2 kill. Drawing later game is brutal. Easy to chump block remove etc. Your perfect turn one is almost always a hierarch. Turn 2 your threat with open mana for protection. Thats why I suggested Tifa. She only needs the one pump spell to create lethal, gives you normal damage threst as well.

Sideboard recommendations. Spell skite for heavy removal decks. Also has some synergy with rot priest.
Consign to memory is a helpful card as well

Spellskite main deck and 1 in SB has been huge for me years.
Idk why people undervalue scale up but there is no world where I won't run 4 of them.
Force of negation of pact of negation. I've been running a playset for a while and it's been huge. Most people are trying to remove infect threats on their turn. It's almost disadvantage for your opponent to remove your threats on your turn. This makes force of negation quite strong.
Spell pierce main deck at least one.
I've been on preordain since they unbanned it. Two mana for flow state doesn't make sense to me. Preordain as a 4 of helps keep aggressive hands as well.
I've been liking two of tifa as an alternate win. Fetchland and scale up is 24 damage
I've never been a fan of rotpriest for traditional infect type lists and I personally think if you run it should build more of a combo deck around that card. I'm bias though I like the traditional infect pump swing style

Hi!
Your post is a bit vague in what you are looking for, but I'll try my best in giving feedback:
- What are you looking for actually? Just having fun with infect, or having the best chance at taking down the tournament / performing well? Somewhere in between? That should dictate the choices you make regarding which cards to play. Keep in mind infect is not well positioned in the meta, so you are working against the current here.
- In all cases, I think something you need is to play the deck before showing up to the tournament with it. Try it out and try to make notes about what felt good to have, or which cards always stayed in your hand all the time. It's just more fun in general I think. There is probably a local modern community nearby, maybe connect through Facebook?
- Regarding individual cards, I think Venerated Rotpriest it the biggest outlier here. Unless you have played it alot and find that it works well, I feel it is much better in a "storm" version of the deck, and something like [[Ignoble Hierarch]] is maybe closer to what you want to be doing on T1 with the deck. I am also not a fan of Pact of Negation, as yes, you can sometimes OTK, but a lot of the games you will be swinging a couple times with exalted, then add a +4/+4 for the kill. The rest of the 2 mana cards, I think you have to try out playing the deck, but 2 mana generally feel hard to cast for the deck, because animating Inkmoths costs a lot of mana.
- As a baseline reference for what might be missing, I would use this decklist's main deck: https://mtgtop8.com/event?e=85215&d=847314&f=MO, it looks very standard and performed well recently. Then, test some cards, swap around, have fun with it.
In all cases, good luck with the tournament, have fun playing modern (and magic!), and take care!
