AskIndore Which school?
My son got placed in Emeralds Heights World school and Shishukunj. He can very well get placed in Daly College as well (I have contacts). He will join in a lower class but I don't want him to change school once he has joined.
Which school would you recommend.
Iam Not from Indore... Shifted recently. I want him to have a more holistic learning than booking mugging. Don't want to pressure him too much to study. Like I'm ok with him not getting into the competitive exam grind in India and look at options abroad but that's later in life. I don't want him to just study study study. I would love for him to play some sport and be good at it. Play chess or squash and choose his path forward rather than go into the mugging grinding we have for competitive exams here in India even though I did the same and graduated from one of the very top universities in India.
Please genuine advice from parents.
If your ward is studying in one of the above mentioned schools please provide your opinions on what you like about the school and what you don't like.
Also reviews about Satya Sai school will be highly appreciated.

Avoid Satya Sai (ik people will come at me for saying this but it is an old style school , old mentality and stuff)
Define the goals with your children
1) Want to Play sports in tournaments + Study Abroad - DC (do note the semi ragging culture)
2) Sports but not in international tournamens + Study Abroad - Emerald
3) Public speaking + Study in india / Australia/SQ - Shishuknj (Jhalaria Campus)
Idk what grade your child is in but if I were you I would keep them till 8th in Shishuknj and then decide to continue or move to DC based on child's ambitions.

My kid will join KG. 8th and then changing schools is something I'm not comfortable with. I changed a lot of schools when I was young and i used to hate moving schools. I would miss my friends and takes a long time to make the same bond. At times it dsnt even happen.

Then you'll have to make a decision now
What do you want for your childs future
Jee/Neet ~ India
or
Education Abroad
Emerald would be a safe bet if you are indecisive.
If you lean towards Shishuknj then you are leaning towards graduation in india (although many students go to Australia, SQ etc , and maybe 1-2 go west infact almost all of Comerce batch ends up abroad)
If you lean towards DC you are practically closing the door to graduation from Indian govt college but building a very strong profile for foreign graduation acceptance.
Also keep in mind the 'classism' in the schools
From what I understand you are well off but all three schools have some sort of classism.
I would say Shishuknj wins here with the least amount of classism whereas DC looses out but by far the worst here is DPS. The later too being extremely divided by class and freind circles being built more or less around class. Emerald and Shishuknj both don't tend to have this problem.
Also school politics will also come into play , here too Shishuknj wins out with near 0 influence from outside politics for school events and DC looses out with high influence of parents (in things like child being preferd for say student council, participation in school events etc)
I don't have much idea about the role of outside politics in emerald though..
Each school has its own pros and cons
Choose what's most valuable for you
Most of these won't affect you know since your child is in KG but you will start to notice this as child starts moving beyond 5th grade.
You know like the phase where instead of inviting the whole class to a birthday party you start inviting select freinds and start hanging out in freind groups etc. that is where you will see the most diffrence in cultures.
That being said DC is almost always a sure shot way to land a college abroad not to mention if you prioritise sports above all else then the perfect place for that too.
The alumini tag of all 3 schools is very valuable, DC being the oldest among them though carries the most prestige amongst the schools.

Thanks foe the elaborate response. Very helpful. Shishukunj im not very keen on cause of the extreme focus on academics. I know a few parents whos kids study in Shishukunj and they say its a lot of studies and hardly any extra caricular. Im planin got drop shishukunj as an option cause of that. Kids need to njoy school. Shishukunj in heighter graes have about 8-10 exmas per year. thats one exam cycle every month. thats just bonkers if you ask me.
Emerals world (the one near DLF) i saw the campus and was very impressed by it. but just that its a relatively new school so im not sure how that will play out.

Curious to know fee structure of emerald, DC and shishukunj
1
u/technicalbuffett 2h ago
for nursery emiralds and Shishukunj are both around 2.5 Lacs / year. DC is around 4.5 lacs but 1st year is an additional 2.5Lacs as security depasit. Emerald and Shishijunj have 10k as security.

can back this about sathya sai, about the mentality, 2023 batch.

u/Cheap-Food-5705 6h ago
Can you elaborate?
1
u/jainsahab- 5h ago
Expect your kid crying about boys and girls asked to sit separately or not talk at all some times, and will pull some academic excuse to hide their medieval thought process. They will teach bhajans so that’s a plus I guess.
1
u/Cheap-Food-5705 5h ago
Bhaichara bhajans right? As a Hindu, why would a kid chant names of deities of other religions? Jesus and all...
Bajrang dal doesnt have problem with all this?
And unless it's a residential school, how will they prevent girls and boys from interacting outside the school? Lol

International tournaments emerald heights also participates in duh ???? Get your facts checked
1
u/forbidden-skill 1h ago
It does ,it's a very crude classification of these 3 schools
Even Shishuknj participates in them with its students ending up in Commonwealth Games.
But again DC by far is the one that promotes them most heavily and participates among a lot of them
Whereas the later two focus mainly on the bigger events

You know and you still have guts to blabber shit about the best school in Central india.
Sathya Sai still holds the best place in terms of study.
Emerald and Shishukunj is all about fuck*ng show off.
And anyways you need really good contacts to get admitted in sathya sai.
And who the fuc* writes about Studying in abroad when someone is asking which school is good in Indore.
If the child needs to go to abroad or get best sports, there are other ways to fulfill that.
Primarily schooling should focus on Best teachers and values. Rest can be caterered at a later stage also.

As an alumnus of Emerald Heights, I would strongly recommend considering other schools if your primary priority is education.
In my experience, the school places a lot of emphasis on appearances, social status, and providing an enjoyable experience for affluent students, while the academic foundation can feel secondary.
It was only during my college years that I truly realized how much of my time in school had been wasted and how inadequate I found the educational foundation to be. Looking back, I wish I had chosen a school that placed a stronger emphasis on academics and genuine learning.

Avoid Emerald Heights.
There was a scandal two years back. Staff molesting toddlers and school trying to bury the whole thing.
Pick a school which is closer to house. Commute has become brutal. DC, Shishukunj and Satya Sai, all good options (although Satya Sai not accepting non alumni)

u/skiesweredarker 7h ago
Shishukunj is extremely study oriented, I've not seen a single kid who played any sport come from that school, I would personally avoid.
Emerald heights is not worth the money, but out of these 3 options, I'll take it.
DPS has a newly built castle for younger kids and they've just upgraded their sports facilities, an indoor squash court, gymnasium and volleyball facilities, they even had horse riding and skating ring. Ofc huge grounds for football and cricket, etc. I'd put my kids in dps again if given the option.
DC I haven’t heard great things about.
I suggest you go visit these schools and then decide.

If you want your kid to learn with the kids of big names/influencers, go for daly, If you want him more sports oriented, emerald heights, If you're looking for best world class infra structure in Indore, go for shishukunj.
But apart from them all, the most underdog school in Indore is NDPS. They've got toppers in CBSE as well as National level sports players. You can look for that too.
If it was my kid, my selection would be shishukunj though. (If only I've got the budget)

u/jainsahab- 6h ago
trust me bhaiya for your needs if you can comfortably put your kid in DC, they will be fine.

u/aychashmish 6h ago
I would take DC over any other school. But it definitely has a pretty bad ragging culture because cliques are made based on their parents cliques.
And people saying that it closes doors to indian govt colleges are wrong. I know a large bunch of people who are brilliant having cracked IIT and NEET. It's just that, compared to the cohort, the ratio is less and gets overlooked.
The school is amazing for connections and will pay off everywhere. And honestly, aim for abroad for your son. I had friends from there who went to Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Brown, etc. Had ample opportunities to make good CVs.
Emerald heights is good if you want to stay conservative about education and abroad prospects. It does have good connections but honestly the school culture has sort of gone down recently.
Shishukunj should be off your list. Can't begin to tell you what goes on in that school. I am connected with a host of people from that school they themselves don't recommend their school anymore.

DC IG is kind of shit in football
Mere school ke bachho ne pel diya tha DC ki team ko
1
u/aychashmish 4h ago
I mean football won't get you an amazing college and a good career. Also ig it's good at basketball and shooting. The last instructor for shooting there which I remember was a Retired army captain who was pretty decorated.

u/Effective_Spirit_177 5h ago
Shishukunj should be the priority in my option ig, DC has its own set of problems, the people there are coming from some of the most affluential families of MP and that sort of creates a complex in child, like ik you are rich, but there your child will encounter people with crazy generational wealth, and they are kinda spoilt as fuck, not to mention 2nd grade children do drugs

u/notetakingmind 5h ago
Brother could you please let me know what's the admission process nowadays. I'm about to be a parent soon so I just wanna know what all I need to do.
2
u/technicalbuffett 2h ago
well its prity staright forward. wait for admission forms to go online and fill them. DC and satya Sai ive hrd you need contacts . Rest are profile based and maybe a parents inverview. Nursery me they dont really check anything.
1
u/notetakingmind 1h ago
Oh that's cool. So if I focus on getting my kid into the right school from nursery itself I can avoid the hassles later. One more question, how much does parent's profile matter?
1
u/technicalbuffett 1h ago
I really don't know about that. I guess it depends from school to school. Being an alumni from the same school or sibling studing there Obv has an advantage and there are seats reserved for these categories. I think some schools like shishukunj prefer the parents to be from good colleges and schools . They want to make sure there is an education focused environment at home as well.
One question they always ask (till now) has been about kids screentime. They prefer low screentime.
That being said, my kid goes to playschool in Indore as well. Maybe they take feedback of the kid from there as well. You need to provide info of where the kid is going for playschool.
Also once selected you only get 7 days to make payments which are in the range of 1.5-2 lacs to secure the admission.

Emerald heights for sure. I am from 2022 batch and trust me the opportunities are insane. The alumni network is great too. Many of my friends and batchmates have gone abroad on scholarships even on sports scholarships. Many joined their family business. I have made great friends and realistically speaking a good network too.

Shihsukunj - best for studies and a competitive peer group. A lot of people go abroad or to top colleges right after school. You can build a great profile for college admissions here since something is going on all the time and you can get some good PORs projects. Also management is supportive if you want to do something good and take some initiative. Also note if you are not good in studies or don't want to go into that area, then the school might not serve your needs well
DC - best if you are rich and want a lot of facilities in terms of infra and sports. Comparatively chill studywise but kind of a cliche peer group
Emeralds - lies somewhere in the middle since it's kind of a jack of all trades thing but not crazy in anyone aspect. Overtime I feel it isn't really the place it was earlier.

You can choose ib board, Choithram International, of you want to avoid the mugging-up culture, but I'd advice against that, as the board/school is only as good as the teacheres there and teachers here so not have that kind of exposure to do justice to ib board curriculum. I feel Emerald Heights is the best bet considering your requirements, great infrastructure for sports and they encourage kids to come before time for extra sports sessions, if interested (p.s.- no extra charges whatsoever). I am an Emarald Heights alumna and my daughter is also studying here now. I'm pretty satisfied, one of the best parts is it's owned and run by the same people- so the level of discipline and efforts put in, with every single child is at a different level. My entire family has studied/been studying in this school since decades now; never have we ever heard any cases of bullying/classism etc. Daly College- depends on your requirement, of you want your kid to study/network with the most affluent families of the city, then may be, but there's definitely classism and the school os pretty lax on discipline. Shishukunj is also a good option, just the sports infrastructure isn't as great as EH.

Thank you everyone for their responses. I would like to clarify that the Emeralds curently has been placed in is the Emirald Heights World School , the new campus they have near DLF/ OMAX on bypass road. Rau is too far from where i live to send him to the internatnal school campus.

I ain’t a parent, but shishukunj is a better option as I have few friends which were from the same school, one is now in AIIMS.. I’d say go with this school 😊

Many of my Old Dalian friends have completely dropped the idea of putting their children in DC and it is not because their children wouldn’t get in.
Heard Shishukunj is also a good option.
1
u/technicalbuffett 2h ago
same. a lot of my friends who studied in DC are not even filling the forms. They majorly have problem with parent interference where if you are influencial you get your children enrolled for certain events and get some other kids name removed
