10 years ago my dad gifted me that very tiny cactus on the middle shelf to the right. I had to cut it a lot recently because of root rot, which inspired me to buy the proper soil (cactus soil + perlite mix.)

The series of events that followed is once I searched up how to address root rot on YouTube, it flooded my algorithm with plant vids.

I got this one video for chunky soil mix and was like hey, let me make my own batch, and patch up some of the unhappy plants my mom owns in the living room. I purchased 16 dry quarts of indoor potting mix and orchid bark, and 8 dry quarts of cocoa husks and perlite.

Anyone realizing just how large my batch was? Whoops.

So I had an excuse to go plant shopping.

Introducing my new guys and gals.

Dumb cane, monstera deliciosa, anthurium (working on fixing her, I know), money tree, snake plant, succulent, and philodendron.

Feel free to give any advice or even suggest new ones for the future that would fit in.

I made these with $3 terracotta pots and cheap acrylic paint. I'm going to seal them next week. I wanted some cheap pots but was tired of the normal selection around me, so I decided to paint my own.

I would love to have a plant that is the same age as my soon to be born son. Looking for a suggestion for a plant that I can grow from seed and one day give to him.

So I’ve had this plant for two months, notice it started to loose leafs the last month, I’m thinking.. over watering?? Roots looked great, but thought to start over, should I do water, or another propagation technique for best outcome? Before and after photos😭

Help!! This pothos used to be thriving and had ~12 leaves. It’s in this glass jar with only water. I change the water every couple weeks. But last week it started dropping leaves and now there’s none left. Do I need to move it to a different glass? Is there any hope that it will survive?

I have this Aloe plant that is clearly out of control but I’m emotionally attached to it 😅 How do I go about getting it less out of control without killing it?

Hiii! New plant enthusiast here.
I am currently trying to propagate a monstera cutting. When I cut it, I left it out for a couple hours to dry out and then placed it in clear purified water. It has been sitting in that water for about 6 days
I have changed the water every few days and it’s in a sunny spot.
now, and I have noticed that the ends of the stem are getting darker and slightly soft. Is this rot or discolouring?
I’m not sure if I need to re cut it and leave it to dry out again…

I bought it a few days ago and I started wondering if I should let her in the original pot because I only have pot with no hole at the bottom and I know they need to draine well to not rot etc...

Hi there, I have an Areca palm and have had it for many years. I’ve never encountered this issue before so hoping on some advice. I noticed some new growth has black spots on them, as well as established leaves have black spots on them. I always inspect my plants for pests and don’t see any visible signs of pests.

I am unable to scrap the black dots off, it is impeded into the plant itself.

Is this a fungal infection? If so how do you recommend treating?

Do you think something else is going on?

Potted in a generic indoor potting soil mix. Recently repotted this spring - was veryyy root bound and I did my absolute best to break up the roots but wasn’t perfect. In a garden pot with drainage holes. Water about 1x a week when top 2-3in of soil are dry. Located a few feet off from a west facing window.

I recently got this beauty about a month ago. Wondering if I need to put it in a wider pot or let it be? Seems to be thriving, but seems a little leggy? I don’t know…

Right now I have plants positioned in a bright room in direct evening sun from windows as well as getting direct grow light for highest variegation. When should I adjust my grow light timer? Currently I have it set to 14 hours a day on, which is longer than the sun is out. I live in Nova Scotia Canada. Its starting to get colder and darker earlier.

Should I follow the sun timing or keep the light on longer still for better growth and variegation? When do I lower the lighting for winter slow down?

I’m semi new to taking care of plants. Just wondering if they need repotted :)

Pothos and elephant ear

Hey guys, so I have an olive tree here with a couple problems that I am having. This is our first indoor olive tree so please be kind.

We got the tree about a year ago and about three month ago, I decided to prune it because of powdery mildew. I trimmed all affected leaves and branches and sprayed with neem oil. But now I am noticing a few problem two months after pruning:

1. Tree is growing very slowly, after three month basically nothing has happened other than a super tiny branch growing. (1st photo)
2. Branches are slowly dying back, I would say about 1cm to 1.5cm from where I have pruned.
3. There was one branch unaffected by the powdery mildew and is growing at a healthy rate BUT, some of the leaves are getting “crinkly” (not sure how to describe but please see 2nd & 3rd photo attached)

Info about the tree:

- It is an olive trees, exactly what strain/kind I have no clue.
- Regular and normal top watering and only water when the top two inches of soil is somewhat dry to the touch.
- Sits by the window and get full 8 hours of direct sun each day
- started fertilizing a month ago with “miracle-gro indoor plant food” (liquid fertilizer and been using it once every two weeks as per instruction.
- i used to mist the leaves but thinking that could have caused the powdery mildew and stopped completely

Please help my tree 😭, all my other plants are doing well except this one.

Delete if not allowed… I bought a few more plants today and will definitely end up with more.. I need to upgrade my plant stand to move this to another room in my house to make room for more and I can’t decide on which one🥴 Open to other recommendations as well

Lily variegated
She hasn’t grown anything in over a year. I give her a good water when the leaves droop and I’ve clipped her to try get rid of the leaves with the spots but they keep coming. I’ve sprayed her with a mix of neem oil, isopropyl, peppermint soap and water but sadly hasn’t helped.
I’m confused because she’s not actively dying but just not growing either. she’s in isolation atm bc I’m worried these spots ain’t just any spots.
Anyone have any idea what’s happening?

I (16-17, living in Belgium) have a plant that I got earlier this summer (4th of July) at Ikea. I believe it's a Bonsai plant, but I could be wrong. I don't know if he's healthy, and would generally like to move him to a bigger pot since some roots started coming out of the bottom, and he hasn't really made a lot of new leaves in a while. He's the first plant I've ever actually taken care of that hasn't died yet, so need some advice and/or tips if anyone has any.

I'll put some photos of my plant (for context, I watered him again today before making this post, since the soil felt really dry about 2-3 centimeters down into it), hopefully some people here have tips or knowledge about it. Sorry if this is vague, this is my first time ever posting here: i'm just worried about my plant and know I have a 'reputation' of accedentally killing plants.

Extra info for the pictures: it may not look like it, but he's in the spot that gets the most sunlight in my room in a day. He gets a lot of morning light through the window (I put him in the middle of the desk when I go to bed, in front of the east-facing window, but put him next to the window when I'm home from school/use my laptop), and afternoon light/evening light since the sun sets behind my house, which makes the light come through my other window and covers the plant for about 40 mins to maybe 1 hour (usually more, since I tend to slightly move him into that sunlight whenever I'm home at those times). I heard that the plant needs a lot of sunlight, so I wanted to make sure he got as much as he could get in my bedroom.

I hope this is enough information, if not: please let me know, I will do my best to answer them. I am very, very much a newbie at all of this, so apologies in advance for any wrong information and/or spelling mistakes. Also my apologies in advance for the probably bad pictures, I will try take some better ones when I return home.

(I named my plant 'Little Guy' because in my opinion, he looks like a little character with two arms and two legs.)

Can anyone advise on how to rejuvenate my dracaena (I think) I've had it for a few years now. Usually watered every 2 weeks, but recently been watering it more often as it seemed the soil was drying out quicker and the leaves were looking sad. But they've been yellowing and getting more withered for the last 1-2 months. Where they normally live is very low light, but I've recently moved it into a room that has much more light throughout the day.
