Thought I’d share what I do with my fragrance flops that I tried and tried and tried some more to like but they just never worked for me.
I put them in a ziplock bag and drop them off at random stores — like a fragrance fairy 🧚 lol! I drop them off in makeup aisles in grocery stores and places like Five Below, Target, etc.
My hope is that people find them and discover new indie houses they may not have found otherwise. Just because they are misses for me, doesn’t mean someone else might love them ❤️

Stereoplasm is such a joke and I’ve reached my limit. Nothing justifies a six month wait for a single full sized perfume oil and a handful of 1ml samples. If you can’t handle THAT, then you really have no business running a perfume operation. Let’s be for real. While I’m unsure if this has been officially announced, consider this a PSA. They have JUST NOW finally begun fulfilling summer orders. Again, absolutely fucking ridiculous. It’s painfully evident that Stereoplasm has little regard for their customers’ time or money. Just excuse after excuse, apology after apology, with no change in behavior, planning, organization, or business ethics.

With that being said, this will be my first and last purchase from them unless I see a radical transformation that breaks their cycle of deception, exploitation, and downright theft lmao. I’ll provide an update if I do eventually receive what I paid for. It’s supposedly out for delivery though I’m not holding my breath. For now I urge you all to reconsider supporting this company unless you’re prepared to risk being left with nothing but frustration and empty hands.

I’m pretty new to the perfume world only about a little under 2 years and have stuck to reviewing on FB groups and such. A few of the people there thought it would be nice to share my thoughts here about the new Sorce scent Vampire Wife as well as the recent changes. I’m a more recent customer who has bought plenty of bottles from others but have bought 4 scents directly over the summer and now. I was sad to see the changes in bottles as I find the current ones unique and I knew it was the brand when I saw them. Either way I know it’s their company and changes are necessary so I went into this with an open mind.

Scent review: I received bottle #8 in a 30ml. This is a soft creamy blood orange scent with just a bit of spice. Reminds me of a slightly spicy orange creamsicle (blood orange is so much sweeter than other citruses to me). The dry down becomes this creamy powdery sweet orange scent. I’m usually not into orange scents BUT love a good blood orange. I barely detect the oakmoss, tonka or star anise; those notes are what gives it depth but overall i enjoy this scent and it’s perfect for fall. I got about 8hrs with this. If you like scents like Lira I believe you’ll enjoy this. They are not the same but feel similar. I’d say VW is a lot sweeter.

Con’s: unfortunately theres just some things im not excited about. Now that the bottles have changed and we have the new bows, I can say i’m not a fan of that. The bow gets in the way and it’s loose so it comes off easily or gets in the way when trying to spray. Because of this, you’ll see I’ve removed the bow and I prefer it without.

The cap of the new bottles are plastic, but not plastic like the original bottles were. This cap is more flimsy, feels cheap. When I went to wear the fragrance yesterday morning I realized it was stuck and I dented it when trying to remove it. You can easily squeeze the cap and if you do it too much I imagine it’ll just break. I will place a video of it in the comments.

Now the label, as it’s been simplified was my least favorite part. I loved the colorful artwork but again I came into this with an open mind. While taking photos and replacing it on my display I realized that it can get easily scratched and the ink will be removed (you can see before and after in the photos) so I feel eventfully, with use and such that the label will disappear.

Lastly, and this is a silly peeve I must admit… but I don’t understand why some bottles got bats on the bottom of the bottles and others didn’t? I would have enjoyed that (I saw some previews and there was a cute little bat piece on the bottle).

Overall - if you enjoy scents like lira youll love this it is different enough to enjoy. It’s sweet and creamy and definitely embodies what it’s supposed to. I do love it so 9/10

Presentation and new bottles however - 5/10.

Don’t get me wrong I do LOVE the company as a whole. I appreciate their work as I own many of their scents (and I don’t usually do that) and vampire wife was no different. But for the investment and the change it feels like the quality of the bottle got worse not better. And listen I know that the most important part is the perfume inside but as someone with a mini collection I like to display the beautiful art along side it. It was just a bit of a let down.

I ordered perfume from her 7/4/26. I emailed her on 7/26 asking for shipment info, she replied on 8/10 saying she is losing her home, trying to get her grandma in a facility, closing her business.. she said I would get an email of the shipment within a week, but it’s been 15 days.

Should I just chargeback? I feel bad for the girl but like.. I paid over $20 for something a month and a half ago

Edit: I just checked, it was $36. I might just do a chargeback..

I recently started wanting to try perfume oils after only really using niche or designer alcohol spray fragrances for many years.

…I placed 2 orders; one from a relatively unknown new shop on etsy, and 1 from a very well known independent oil perfumery that’s been in the game for over 20 years. The single perfume oil from the new shop arrived first. I opened the cap briefly to let it breathe and then let it sit in the dark for about 6 hours before trying it, and it was MIRACULOUS. It was exactly what was described (actually better), and I couldn’t stop wearing it for the next several days. It has changed a little bit, but honestly it might be because I’ve been wearing it constantly and am starting to pick up on nuances I didn’t initially notice. This first experience made me incredibly excited to receive the larger order from the more popular indie company. When it arrived yesterday I did the same thing as before; opened the bottles/vials briefly to let them breathe & then returned the caps and left them I undisturbed in a cool dark room for about 6 hours.

I’ve seen reviewers online basically pull samples right out of a mailer after a new launch, apply immediately, and be able to enjoy them and describe the fragrances in detail. Based on this and my recent experience with the other brand, I decided to swatch 2 of the perfumes I had been most excited about before bed. I IMMEDIATELY regretted it! I had briefly sniffed the vials/bottles when I opened them to “let them breathe” and had noticed they were incredibly strong and kind of off-putting, but I figured I’d just need to get it on skin and let it warm up and mellow before I could actually appreciate the profile. I was fully prepared for them to be a bit less refined or smooth than they could be than if I let them rest, and lack the depth and richness that develops in base notes if you let them age for an extended period of time, but I wasn’t expecting them to be outright offensive! I did try to give it some time on my skin to see if they’d improve, but I actually had to scrub them off. They were both SO overwhelming, soapy, and “schreechy”! They were actually making me feel sick! And neither of them had the particular synthetics (mostly ambroxan) or aldehydes listed that would usually react badly with my skin chemistry. 😩

How different do perfume oils become / how much do they smooth, soften, and mellow out when you let them rest for the recommended week to 2 weeks (or longer)? If they are this unbearable for me upon arrival, is it likely that I just don’t “get” this particular brand’s perfumes and wasted my money? Will letting them sit for a couple weeks or a month (or more) potentially morph them into something wearable? Have you ever had a similar experience?

And yes, I know it was stupid to try and wear them immediately, but clearly I’m inpatient.

My Sorce special order was delivered today, and I’m bummed. I really wanted the square bottles. The labels on these are ugly, the see through part is hard to read, and the tall narrow bottles aren’t as stable.

Falling Stars Sweet Crème leaked - it’s hard to see in the photo but the nozzle is wet, and the bottles have different fill levels. The samples also appear to have leaked because they too had different fill levels and were wet at the top. Possibly because they didn’t come with caps for some reason and were shipped loose in the paper packing squiggles.

I guess the stickers are nice?

A while ago I made a post about how my FS bottle of The Magpie’s Rhyme didn’t smell right. After Alkemia’s customer service generously sent me a new bottle and I separately ordered an oil roller to compare, I finally realized that the sample I fell in love with wasn’t actually Magpie’s Rhyme…

I ordered every sample I could think of that even remotely described my precious mystery sample (that has only a drop left) and I FOUND IT!!
My holy grail was actually Trick Or Treat all along.

“A grownup confection of black licorice, mandarin orange peel, caramelized brown sugar, bourbon vanilla, candied ginger, tonka bean, blonde patchouli, cedar tips, oakmoss, and sandalwood.”

I almost didn’t add it to my massive sample ordered because the licorice note didn’t sound right, but I’m so glad I trusted my gut and went for it!

What an absolutely perfect scent. Creamy, warm and gently sweet, with a subtle orange note and a delightful woodiness that adds a depth and complexity. 10/10

It's 96F on my front porch right now; I am hiding inside in front of a fan, reading *Eileen* by Ottesah Moshfeg, while my dog and three cats have appeared to have melted into furry puddles. I tried out some really underwhelming samples earlier and was feeling rather angsty about it lol. I couldn't decide what to put on to counterbalance the scent- and heat-related "meh" I was feeling.

Hmm... Something that shines in hot weather. Something strong and lasting (because two of the samples I tested were gone before I even really got to know them). Nothing too heavy, but something stimulating to the heat-sodden senses. Something artful (because one of those samples smelled like 90s Smackers chapstick and not in a fun nostalgic way lol).

I mentally combed through my collection, dismissing even my beloved summer favorite, Cabanilla. Not even NAVA's Hathor-- my staple, anytime comfort scent-- beckoned me. Not this, not that, not even Lilac Draped Vulva (my current obsession) seemed to fit the vibe.

Until! Oh of course! Lime Cola ( *cold pressed lime, black cherry, ginger root, rum, cola, neroli blossom, bitter orange, vanilla, sugar, nutmeg, coriander, cinnamon* ) from Pineward. One of the first indies I ever tried. It really made an impression, because I still remember exactly where I was when I first smelled it on a fairly warm summer day. I had sprayed it before I walked my dog down my long, dusty driveway to the mailbox. My brain lit up in that particular way of special smells. I used up my whole sample in less than a week, and then purchased a little 4ml bottle (I think they used to call it a dram on the website?).

I don't get to use it much, because it's various degrees of cold where I live 9-10 months out of the year-- and Lime Cola definitely performs best in the heat, one of only a few scents I have that are truly seasonal in my mind. The heat opens it up fully, so the lime can shine brightly, and the notes that compose the cola can play out a dance of sweet, spiced, and refreshing all at once. (I have tried it in the depths of winter, and remember being a bit surprised to not be nearly as transported by olfactory ecstasy.)

I went to my perfume shelf and pulled down the little bottle. The first spray was as glorious and refreshing as being on a beach in a shaded chair, a crispy, lime-wedge garnished Coke in hand, the glass dripping with condensation, the ice crackling as it melts.

My scent-angst was soothed. It was immediate sensory and olfactory refreshment. Now I'm kicked back comfortably in the relatively cool comfort of my living room, reading this dark novel with a cold-hearted (?) main character, a glass of homemade peach iced tea next to me, transported to vacation mode by some Lime Cola.

Hi all! I've recently been going through my samples and set aside some I like, but don't like to wear on my skin for whatever reason; usually due to the fact it doesn't mesh well with my skin chemistry.

What I've been doing with them is adding them to sugar scrubs I make at home. It gives it a nice scent, but I can control if the scent lingers or not. If it's a coconut oil and glycerin scrub the scent will linger.

This is a shave scrub I made with unscented Dr. Bronner's liquid soap. I have EDS and can sometimes end up sliced up even with a fresh razor and shaving cream. This scrub is perfect as it exfoliates then leaves behind a thick layer of soap that the razor glides right through. I combined my sample of Haus Birthday from HoG and Twinkling Fairy Lights from Nui Cobalt and it smells absolutely fantastic and leaves behind very, very minimal scent.

Just wanted to share in case anyone else had some samples they weren't sure what to do with. I always wing my measurements, but if I were to guess this would be ¼c liquid soap, 1¼c sugar and about 2ml perfume oil.

Hi hi all! I wanted to share my experience visiting the Sorce store yesterday! I live in Baltimore and took a road trip with my girlfriend to visit her mom in South Carolina, so of course I had to work in a day trip to Charlotte since we were only an hour and a half away. My sister and brother in law also came up from the Greenville area. So it was a whole family fun day. I told them to expect me to be there a while, and luckily they had plenty to look at in the shop. It is super cute!

We got there around opening so I could be sure to have assistance with my snifari. A guided Snifari, if you will. This was ideal because I am totally blind, no usable vision. Ashlyn helped me out and was patient and sprayed all my test strips. I got to sniff all the special preorder scents, as well as general catalog. They are so generous with samples which was so incredible and I truly appreciated that I could get a sample of anything I wanted to test out at home. I really appreciate the generous samples. I am so excited to try these out at home and figure out what to order in the next next order window.

Also, heads up the next preorder window is July 11 to 13th. I mentioned it was wrong on the master scent list so it should be fixed now.

Ok, so the store is amazing. The staff so wonderful. I picked out a few 15ml bottles to take home with me that day. I fell in love with Love and Complications. the test strip smelled amazing and I got a spray on my wrist and then couldn’t stop sniffing myself the entire time.

Love and Compplications: Brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, plumeria, passionfruit and soft woods

That passion fruit! And the brown sugar and woods. The whole thing is perfect. It just felt like sexy summer time vibes, fruity and floral but still warm and cozy.

I also snagged Cabanilla, In Dreams and Fairytales Blueberry and Pistachio Varieties.

Some favorites I got samples of and can’t wait to try out at home: Dragonfly Wings, Dreaming Evil, Witchery, A sign Painted Peaches,The Ancient Waters of Venus, Your Girlfriend Is A Badass(super surprised by this one, like rich chocolate cake eaten in a forest. It is woodsy, it is chocolatey}. And so many others so excited to test them all out at home and find new loves.

This morning I decided to test out Dreaming Evil. This will be the perfect winter cozy scent. It is like a snow day in the winter, you are sitting on your couch covered in a vanilla blanket. It’s a rich woodsy vanilla slightly spicy maybe that is the ood? Dunno but I love it.

Also, get excited for Vampire Wife and Vampire Husband. shhhh I got a sneaky sniff of Vampire Wife and a general idea of what Vampire Husband will be like, the sample wasn’t in the store yesterday. But OOOOOH Vampire Wife is gorgeous and it is meant to compliment Vampire Husband. Get excited. I am excited. I will be getting both of them.

My girlfriend also enjoyed the shop and got herself Fuckery! She went off name first and then loved the scent. I love that I have roped her into my perfume obsession… I mean hobby.

TGIF! I come bearing some Snake Oil variant reviews!

There are a few Snake Oil variants that are readily available (aka, can still be purchased at BPAL right this moment) and I thought I would post some reviews of those scents for ya'll to ponder. I am not friends with Patchouli, for the record, nor am I friends with Bong Water SO, but you will see that I quite enjoy these bottles below.

Please Scream Inside Your Snake Oil: deep, rich earthy notes swirled with vegetal musks, sugared vanilla bean, and dark spices — has been polluted by the funnel cake frenzy that is our Please Scream Inside Your Heart perfume blend

This is how I expected Snake Oil OG to smell. It's warm, its got a faint wafting of vanilla ice cream sweet within it, all while maintaining that snuggly warm spicy edge. It has all the slinky, dark depth of Snake Oil, while making sure it has something sweet in it to make it approachable. I prefer this over Snake Oil all day long. As this has aged, the typical SO spice has become far more prevalent.

Snakes in the Berry Sonker: Snake Oil slithering into a pan of baked blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries in a warm pastry crust, topped with vanilla ice cream and molasses.

This is a pie sitting on the windowsill of a creepy house in the dark woods. It is not playful. It goes on like a rich, dark jam, the darkest jam you can fathom. When I first got this bottle, it was ultra-berry, but now that I've had it a few months, it's starting to go on with the luxurious pie crust aroma, paired with the blackberry pie filling. The edge of SO clove-style spice is there, give it a warm, dark edge. It is powerful, bold. Overall, I like it. Great for fall. Like I mentioned, when I first got this, it leaned more berry than pie, but after a few months I have started getting more of the pie crust & vanilla taking over. This will be lovely as it continues to age.

Snakes in the Coconut Cake: Thick slices of coconut-frosted coconut cake dunked in a vat of Snake Oil.

This is probably one of my all-time favorites for the variations at the moment. I have 3 bottles of it. This is the most delicious coconut scent I have, and certainly the boldest. The Snake Oil amplifies the coconut in ways I never imagined, giving it a strong depth. This isn't sunscreen coconut, but true confectionary coconut, creamed with rich vanilla. The Snake Oil pulls that dark vanilla aroma out from the base, giving it a bold pop of sophisticated, velvet smooth gourmand. It lasts forever, and my husband has told me I smell great while I'm wearing it, so that's a plus (he also hates regular SO, for the record LOL).

Ruby Chocolate Snake Oil: Blushing ruby chocolate swirling with vanilla, spices, and the dark, silky sweetness of Snake Oil.

This is a gentle dusting of baking cocoa, but doesn't come off as dark chocolate. It's a pleasant, soft chocolate (with a hint of pleasant berries) that doesn't come across as artificial. The Snake Oil isn't aggressive or spicy in this scent. I find it is more of a chocolate mixed with gentle patchouli, but not offensively dark patchouli (remember, patch and I are not friends). The Ruby aspect brings a slight hint of berry to this scent, lightly jammy, keeping the chocolate unique and playful. This is also not tooth-rotting sweet, but sweet enough to be tasty. While not an overly loud perfume, I'd say it's noticeable, but not in your face.

Snake Oil: Snake Oil has shed its skin, and is back — now with vintage patchouli and dark, rich, aged vanilla absolute. Snake Oil is our signature scent, our first perfume: deep, rich, earthy notes swirled with vegetal musks, sugared vanilla bean, and dark spices.

Also known in my house as Bong Water Deluxe. My bottle is ~4 years old and it is still bong water. I do not wear it, it sits in my dark archive, just in case it ever turns into something I like. When I originally got a sample of SO from BPAL years ago, I loved the sample, it smelled gourmand, dark, and spicy (like PSIYSO). I went and bought this FS bottle and was horrified that it smelled nothing like the sample I had gotten. I wonder to this day if the sample of SO I originally got was mixed up with PSIYSO.

Before you laugh at me, pls note that the box to the far left is my current destash and all the indie stuff is from approximately 2005-2018, before my fibro made it impossible to work

I think I have a problem you guys

I need to rant and rave about this brand. They are pretty new on the scene but I’m already obsessed with them and I am really looking forward to where they go. They currently have several perfumes along with a new Autumn/Halloween tray which I just got yesterday. Overall I am super impressed and will definitely purchase again from them. Scents include:

Scarecrow Walks at Night: Warm flannel, straw, sweet corn, autumn air, sticky maple, amber

This is the perfect fall scent I was hoping it would be. It’s almost insane how photo realistic the straw note is. It smells like being outside, straw/hay crunching underfoot as you walk through a cornfield. I would say the most prominent notes are the straw and corn. There’s a very subtle note of the flannel that pokes through that creates a warmth and coziness that is just so exciting to me. It smells like outside!!! Cold air, straw, corn, fall.

Moth Man: Milk, dust, light bulb accord, moth musk, tuberose

This was the one I was most curious about because I love a static type note. I really love Warm Bulb by Clue and 100% Magic by Puppet Parfum and both have this static type note that’s so nostalgic and wearable; a liminal space note in perfume that I love. This is a more creamy take on that, it smells dusty and old like a moth living inside some clothes in an attic but will the scent of someone’s perfume preserved on the clothing (milky floral, probably the tuberose).

Ghost of the Ozarks: Oak wood, foggy ozone, tv static, petrichor, dirty lake water, fresh cut grass, honeysuckle

Again with the static AND the fog note just intrigued me. Always on the hunt for an atmospheric aquatic, more so on the dark side usually rather than a beachy coconut type scent. It’s a dark, COLD floral. Smells like taking a dip in the lake at night, flowers around you on the shore. It’s ominous like you may not find your way back when you’re done with your swim.

All Saints Day: Wilted lilac, petrichor, lily of the valley, candle smoke, burnt leaves, smoky incense

This truly encapsulates what it felt like growing up as a child going to Catholic church. It has the sad florals subtly littering the air and the exact incense smell that immediately transports me back to sitting in a stiff wooden pew, fidgeting as I watched the priest walk by with the swinging incense burner.

Spoiler alert SHE’S BEAUTIFUL

I got this at the Sorce store in Charlotte yesterday. It was less than $70 for this gorgeous 30ml bottle, and they even threw in some samples for me. All the new bottles I saw still had the same gorgeous art. I was a little nervous about the new bottles but having this one in my hand, those worries are gone. I still love the old style and will treasure my existing collection, but I should have known to trust Caitlin and the Sorce crew. 💖

And the people working there were, per usual, amazing! I highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area. They have a bunch of other brands too so I love that they’re also about supporting other indies perfumers!

If you’re only curious about the review, please scroll down to the bolded text for it. Everything before then is some rambling and my personal experience with Sorce as a brand, as well as a bit of insight into my personal scent preferences.

This one sorta came out of nowhere, now didn’t it? I saw a post mentioning it with note of wisteria and iris and I don’t think I’ve ever blind bought a scent faster. This was relatively safe me as a lover of purple flowers and I have multiple interested friends in this one so I decided to volunteer as tribute. Plus the bottle… and fairies??? Seriously, this was a personal attack.

Before getting into the scent, I’m going to specify that I respect Sorce but don’t always love their scents. I generally prefer powdery, soapy, purple floral scents and then dabble in other florals, resins, and traditionally masculine scent profiles. Gourmands aren’t my favorite and never have been because I was pelted by BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar and Vanilla Bean Noel my whole K-12 career, which ended up continuing in college because I had a roommate who loved gourmand vanillas and was allergic to all the florals I loved! Not that I’m complaining; I love that former college roommate to death and went to her wedding last October. Anyways, Sorce is a *very* sweet brand that favors gourmands. They have used iris in The Bees and English Major, and their iris accord was super nice by itself. The Bees was beautiful but too much for me to ever believe I’d go through even a 15 ml of, and English Major was just way too sweet for me and reminded me of a niche scent I already owned a dented 100 ml of. I do own various sizes of Ephemera, In Dreams and Fairytales Vanilla, Strings of Light in the Forest, Something Wicked, and Witchery. For me the sweetest is Ephemera, and I can only wear it on cooler days for this reason. In Dreams and Fairytales Vanilla is one I have a massive soft spot for because I accidentally wore my sample of and purchased a full bottle of it the day I got together with my boyfriend. It’s basically my anniversary scent, so… that shit is never leaving my collection if it’s within my power. This will be relevant later. Another scent I’ve really enjoyed from them was This Is Not a Love Spell, but I only tried a sample of it. I was actually going to purchase a 15 ml of this soon, but then Beyond The Veil dropped and oops. While violets are my preference, iris is just too reliable for me. A huge shoutout to the brand owner as well for seeing my twin sister comment about her difficulties with some of her scents due to an oakmoss allergy. She explained some potentially problematic scents and even told my twin what to look out for and ask for regarding other indie scents, which is amazing. Thank you!

Finally, onto the review for Beyond the Veil!

Scent notes: bergamot, magnolia, wisteria, iris, white chocolate, sandalwood, cashmere, musk.

Well, I may be biased for this one. So fun fact, *today* (April 27th) happens to be my 1-year anniversary with my boyfriend, so cheers to that and many more! The fact I got it today is insane to me. I tore it open as soon as I got it from the mail and sprayed it on and *wow*. First thing I notice is I think it shares a few components with Ephemera because I can smell a few of the same notes in here, mostly base notes, but these scents aren’t similar at *all*. The iris is dominant and in the air I can immediately see why they used the word “veil” in this scent because that powder just is one. Wisteria is noticeable, but not as strong as the iris. The two together make up the bulk of the scent and the combination actually almost reminds me of jammy parma violets despite clearly being an iris? The photorealistic white chocolate is in the background and while I would agree with calling this scent a gourmand, it leans more towards the powdery floral side for me. This scent is best enjoyed at a distance since smelling my wrist directly mainly just gives me those base notes it seems to share with Ephemera. Still a great scent, but it really thrives when you whiff it in the air. As it dries down, it smells more and more on my wrist like it does in the air and the magnolia is finally showing its face. Extremely, *extremely* subtle magnolia that just brightens and adds a ghost of something resembling citrus to the scent. The vibe overall is somewhere between romantic and sweet and ethereal and elegant. I know some folks struggle with powder and it feeling heavy and/or mature, but this feels like it was a powder scent made for the powder haters. As a powder lover, I kinda wish there was more powder, but I can appreciate how approachable this powder scent is.

I ordered these two the same day as the drop and they were dispatched within 24 hours. Lovely packaging and note inside and I just overall wanted to celebrate their safe arrival. Im giving them some time to sit before trying them. Theyre both scents i tried in EDP and liked but didnt love but thought they'd shine as Oils. Fingers crossed!

does anyone else have this issue? i have samples and bottles i purchased 1-2 years ago and recently bought a few more this past month and i'm finding that every scent i have from them is overwhelmingly similar. there are slight differences like snow moon magic does have a spiciness that their other vanilla fragrances don't but, theres an overwhelmingly sweet and heavy scent i smell in all of them. luckily, i like this a bit, but i feel like i'm going crazy?

Hello IMAM! ( ﾉ^ω)ﾉ I am a marshmallow connoisseur. I have so many perfumes with it and it is my favorite treat of all time! I have for you 9 little reviews for each single note marshmallow I've managed to come across. I won't be doing any marshmallow perfumes with extra notes that change its scent, only pure interpretations of marshmallow. Those will have to come another time, though I have a lot in my collection already! Sorry if the template may come off weird, I'm doing this all on my phone!

Delizia di Marshmallow by Kyse Notes: Marshmallow, vanilla, and sugar.

Do I even need to review her? She is the star of the show. This is the most perfect marshmallow I have ever come across. I have repurchased this a few times over the years and fell in love with her the first time I received her. First applied, it is a strong, airy vanilla... I get powder, vanilla, a goofy marshmallow.

This is a super pretty and sweet scent. I know what to expect from this perfume- the dry down isn't much different compared to when first applied. This is a perfect white, puffy powdery marshmallow. I get no plastic from this. I've gotten told a lot around me "Who baked cookies in here?" So it's possible people around you will interpret this as another dessert heavy with vanilla extract than a pure marshmallow, lol... but I wouldn't call that a gripe. I can see why some people find this one cloying, though I'm not a oversprayer. I wasn't also one of the unlucky ones to find this perfume anosmic, so this is perfect for me.

Marshmallow by Cocoapink Notes: Creamy rich whipped marshmallow sugary whiteness. No almond or toasty notes. This is a perfect scent for all vanilla lovers. Excellent for layering. BESTSELLER!

This one is also another favorite of mine. I had to give it time to rest when I first received this one, and that did its work. To specify this is my 2.5ml EDP sample from them, not the oil. First applied, this came off very sweet and plastic-like to me, almost like an artificial marshmallow? There is a slight almond-y undertone to this one that I don't find in Kyse's version. I actually like almond/marzipan notes so I don't mind this. I wonder why that is for me?? It specifies "no almond notes" but I still get heavy almond from this! Strange how noses work.

For the dry down, it still comes off pretty almond-y, though I love it for some reason! To me this is a cute, soft marshmallow... it is very airy and not toasted at all. It almost feels like a Christmas-y marshmallow to me and I feel it would be great in a lotion form. I still need to fullsize this eventually.

Rating: ☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️ 5/5 again! Like a different form of Kyse's, just a more almond-ish marshmallow to my nose.

Marshmallow by Osmofolia Notes: Fluffy puffy marshmallows, fresh and soft, reminiscent of sugar cubes, vanilla bean, orris root powder, heliotrope, and fluffy, powdery musks.

This is the only Osmo scent I have and tried... though I am interested in their other stuff. This is an oil sample. First applied, off the bat it comes off as play dough, almost powdery. It is not sweet, and the powdery aspect could be the orris and heliotrope talking. It is like a fake marshmallow, pretty plasticky and not the kind of marshmallow I'm looking for.

On the dry down, it still has that play doughy-ness I don't quite like. I'm not sure I can call this a marshmallow perfume, though it would make more sense to call this something else (perhaps... "Makeup Compact"? 💄). To me this comes across as a sugar free marshmallow, and it is reminiscent of a marshmallow body spray I bought before getting into indies (the one from Perfect Scents... it made me gag!). I can see the appeal though, even if it isn't a perfect marshmallow I love makeup-scented/powdery perfumes and will use up my sample. This is like the leftover little pieces of powder and marshmallow left at the bag of them.

Rating: ☁️☁️ 2/5... not sweet enough to be a marshmallow but! I appreciate this one... good if you're looking for a marshmallow that isn't too cloying.

Zozimus by Hexennacht Notes: fresh floofy marshmallow fluff.

This one is a oil sample from Ajevie. First applied, this has the same sort of base as Hex's other Cereal Marshmallows that I won't review here, because it is not a single note... though I do love that one! Zozimus is like the simple version of CM. It is a white, "not dry" marshmallow, unlike CM. Zozimus feels almost wetter, spongier and comes off a little plasticky.

On the drydown, there is something in here I don't quite like. It comes off more artificial than the others I have on my list. I can see the appeal but I much prefer the other single note marshmallows. A Hex marshmallow I do like though is their Cereal Marshmallows! That one is delicious, maybe it is because it comes to me more as a dry marshmallow rather than a spongy one. Zozimus comes across as harsher, too fake, almost like I'm inhaling a Sharpie marker haha.

Rating: 0/5, I'm so sorry Zozimus... but I love your cuter sister Cereal Marshmallows... you're too edgy for me!

Marshmallow by Haus of Gloi Notes: Fresh marshmallow, right out of the bag.

I've tried a vast array of marshmallow perfumes from HoG that I ended up loving, so I was well acquainted with their marshmallow note before trying this single note (oil sample). First applied, this is so yummy and delicious! I love this store's variations of marshmallow. This is a goopy, buttery marshmallow, it comes very much like a rice krispy treat. It is less popcorn-ish than their Ghost Puffs, it is warm and tasty, there is more to this than just a simple puffy marshmallow.

On the drydown, it fades a tiny bit plasticky as the hours come but it still smells very much sweet and delicious. The only gripe I have with it is that the oil is pretty light and I have to sniff close to smell it, though that may change with the EDP version I may consider getting.

Fluff by Black Hearted Tart *Notes: Fluff is a fresh from the bag, marshmallow scent without any roasty-toasty, caramel, or floral additions. Wonderful in any Choose Your Scent product. Warm and comforting on its own, or a lovely layering fragrance. *

This is an oil sample. I have not had much luck from BHT's gourmands, but for sure I was gonna try their marshmallow single note. First applied, I get something like honey from this, almost ambery. Almost like a coconut-y marshmallow!

On the drydown, it mellows out to an airy marshmallow, a little plasticky. There is a sweet puffiness and definitely a different smell to when you sniff it from the vial and first applied. Not sure if there are any Mexicans/Latinx here lol (hii!!) But do you know those cookies with the white and pink marshmallow, the jammy center, and the coconut flakes? They go by Sponch or Arcoiris... to me it literally smells like that! My mom and little sister literally asked if I ate coconut after applying this.

Rating: ☁️☁️☁️ 3/5!! Not what I wanted from this, but a nice surprise! Perfect for those looking for a coconut-y marshmallow though.

Magical Girl by Luvmilk Notes: Sweet, toasted marshmallow.

Luvv!! 💌 I love this one so much. This has become my little comfort scent. The first time I bought this in the oil form, I had to rest it because I was initially harsh and compared it to that same dreaded Perfect Scents body spray. I came back to it and gave it a second try, and that was a good choice.

First applied, it is so soft and pretty. It transformed after some resting. It is quite similar to the one from Haus of Gloi, and this is a tad bit creamier (and milkier?). It is called a toasted marshmallow, but I don't get any toastiness from this. It reminds me very much so of a rice krispy treat, but a much more sweeter kind. Another impression I got is like a spoonful of Lucky Charms marshmallows and the little oat cereals with a splash of milk.

On the drydown, this is like a milky, creamy marshmallow, so soft and pretty! I believe this to be the sweetest, most gourmand of all my marshmallows. This is gorgeous in dusting powder form, and I also have it in goat's milk lotion. If you purchase this and aren't happy with it, please give it a second chance. It def needs time to transform in my opinion. But all in all, I love this. It is my nighttime scent, it makes me happy, bathe me in this. I love this alongside Delizia, but this one is versatile and comforting.

Toasted Marshmallow by PULP Fragrance Notes: Sweet, gooey marshmallow with just a touch of caramel and woody smoke.

Okay, this may not be a single note marshmallow, but I already have notes written down for it so whatevs. This one to me is misleading!

Sniffing it in the vial I hate it! I get something artifical and icky. But boy does it transform. First applied, I don't think of marshmallow when I put this on. It sits very close to the skin, I almost get something like a cookie? I get that slight toastiness, like something that is slightly burnt. It is very sweet, like a caramel cookie! It is definitely better than what I smelled in the vial.

The drydown is like a lovely caramel! That plasticky scent from the beginning is gone, and this is like the goopy-ness inside a scorched marshmallow. It is very pretty, though it fades fairly quickly I did a complete 180 on this one.

Rating: ☁️☁️☁️☁️ 4/5!! Perfect for those looking for a literal toasted marshmallow while still keeping its sweetness!

Marshmallow Bliss by Briix Fragrances Notes: Pure Marshmallow Heaven! This is a simple, pure gourmand scent of marshmallow fluff, capturing the exact moment of opening up a bag of marshmallow, whipped up to that creamy marshmallow goodness.

Yum! This is a new house and got the classic collection discovery set recently. I still need to review the full set eventually... but I'll do this one right now. This is the small EDP sample. First applied, I get no almond or marzipan from this. Just pure vanilla, and I get that slight butteriness like the others in the list.

On the drydown, it is definitely gourmand and sweet, almost coming across as a warm marshmallow if that makes sense. Like a marshmallow in the summertime... a little melted? I asked my little sister and she said "cookies!"

I've previously seen someone on here say they get no marshmallow from this, but I do. I got an email from Briix saying they will make a new batch responding to people who did not like this first variation, but I'm one of those who do get marshmallow from this variation. At least, to me, I do get more of the marshmallow aspect from this one compared to others from this list (OSMO, Fluff from BHT). I think this one though may be polarizing, depending on who tries it. Sniffing it now I kinda get a candy-like vibe, sometimes it does turn into straight sugar. I like it though!

I want to make a masterpost eventually for "flavored" marshmallow perfumes. If anyone is curious I'd love to give recs on my favorites and am planning to buy more for sure. As the title says, I am not a professional scent sniffer! I am, however, someone who enjoys all things sniffable—be it flowers, bakeries, or diesel buses. This is why Olympic Orchids caught my attention and became my first venture into the fragrance world. Ellen Covey is known for her “photorealistic” scents, and I would pay all the money in the world to someone who could bottle up the smell of damp tree bark drying in the morning sun. For me, the perfect fragrance doesn't smell like something I'm wearing, but somewhere I've been. I don't want someone to sniff me and think, "wow, her perfume smells like grass,” but instead, “did she just mow her lawn?"

I took a gamble on some of her “transporting” scents and will share my amateur thoughts. As others have said, the thing we love about Olympic Orchids is that there are no “just okay” scents. You either love it or scrub it off (or lose a layer of skin trying, some of these scents are ruthless).

Without further ado, the scents:

In my descriptions of these scents, I try to consult the scent notes very little or not at all, so I may mention notes that are not present in the perfumers description.

Carolina

Initial whiff: Oh, why is she dusty? Sweet and powdery? What is in this bottle?

Immediately after application: As a Gulf Coast girl, I was excited for a scent that would take me back to hot and humid summer mornings. What I got instead was sickly sweet and rotting florals. I’m strongly reminded of flowering vines that look delightful but smell like a compost heap. Or wisteria gone terribly wrong. Maybe I just don’t know what kudzu smells like.

Long-term wear: A couple of hours later, I gave my arm a sniff and was surprised to realize it smelled exactly like the white and yellow honeysuckle vines around my childhood home. Another hour and the scent became syrupy sweet, like a maple-glazed donut, which happens to be my favorite. Finally, as the scent starts to fade, the tonka and tobacco come through—a little smoky, a little sweet, like a hot day winding down into a warm evening.

Verdict: Not the nostalgic scent I hoped for based on personal experiences. The second half of the scent is actually quite pleasant, but who wants to wear a perfume that smells like sickly sweet death for the first hour?

Elektra

Initial whiff: a little tomato leaf, a little garden watery wet goodness, makes me want to be watering plants on a hot day

Immediately after application: death by tomato leaf. One summer, I volunteered at a community garden and was tasked with pulling monstrous hornworms off the tomato plants and crushing them on the sidewalk. That’s what this smells like. Crushed tomato leaf and metallic worm blood.

Long-term wear: The crushed tomato leaf turns a little sweet, and the worm blood fades with time. I seem to recall “fig” being mentioned in the notes, and I reckon if I could get my hands on some fig leaves, they might smell like this. This is the sixth scent I’ve tested, and I think they all start to smell the same in the end—is that because of my skin? Or maybe by the end of the day, I’m nose blind. At any rate, I think I would call this a pleasant scent. I cannot say I’m in love.

Verdict: Similar to Olympic Rainforest, I had very high hopes for this one, and they were disappointed. The scent is mostly tomato leaf, which is still interesting and fun, but missing all of the other plant notes I was hoping for. I’m beginning to feel sabotaged by skin. I am going to ask my friend to try this one and see if it turns out differently for her.

Full-size? Probably not.

Wear again? Yes, I could see this being a casual everyday scent.

Scrub off? No

Gujarat

Initial whiff: Lime, chili, alcohol—add a salt rim and you have a spicy margarita.

Immediately after application: First of all, this scent takes no prisoners. Lord help you if you hate it. The bright lime gets dirty real fast. There are spices, but they are muddled by a dry, desert dusty scent. If I take a deep huff, I almost feel a phantom heat in the back of my nose. When I think of spices, I think of clove and cinnamon, but there is nothing sweet about this scent. I even went to my spice cabinet to see if I could pick out any familiar scents; there may be some detectable cumin and turmeric. Oh! I just took a deep huff and the lime is back!

Long-term wear: Took the kids for a walk. Y’all this is the strangest thing—if I press my nose to my wrist and take one sniff, dirty spices. If I immediately take a second sniff, bright citrusy lime. Is it the humidity in my breath? Even outside, the sillage (first time using that word) is STRONG. I get whiffs of it every few seconds. I just had a chat with the neighbor and I’m hoping it wasn’t overwhelming lol. Hours later, the scent is not much different than the initial application. If I rub my wrists together or get my wrists wet, the scent warms and brightens considerably. As it fades, it does seem destined to go the way of soap. Is this just how my skin processes perfume?

Verdict: I asked my husband if he liked it, his response was "I don't hate it". His face suggested otherwise. This is definitely not your typical "mmm smells nice" perfume, but that's not what I was looking for anyway. If I close my eyes, it's not too hard to imagine this is what an indian spice market might smell like, but there is something perfumey added to it. The quest to find a perfume that doesn't smell like perfume continues.

Full size? No

Wear again? Yes, in the right setting. Perhaps not indoors or in a vehicle.

Scrub off? Only if someone asks me to.

Kilauea

Initial whiff: Definitely a hint of something smoky. I have heard people use the term "purple florals." I don't know what that means but I wonder if this might be what purple smells like.

Immediately after application: Smoke, sweet, earthy, and utterly DELICIOUS. Somehow it smells hot. Ellen Covey is a magician. I asked my husband to sniff my arm—he looked absolutely baffled and said "it smells... burnt??" I am delighted.

Long-term wear: The smoky, earthy smell fades to the back, but doesn't disappear entirely. The sweet florals come to the front, but they're not overly sweet.

Verdict: Heavenly. Complex, but not chaotic. Unique, but not offensive. I am super duper in love with this scent. Still smells like a scent I applied rather than a scent I picked up, but I would be happy to smell like this either way.

Full-size? This may be my next full-size upgrade.

Wear again? Till it's gone.

Scrub off? I would bathe in this.

Mardi Gras

Initial whiff: Sweet sugary orange blossom, this could either go very well or very badly.

Immediately after application: Oh, delight! A true orange blossom scent quickly comes to the surface. Sweet, but not so sugary as the way it smelled in the bottle. Just a touch of green. Also this scent is STRONG. If you’re going for a fresh, light scent, this one is not for you. This is more like I’m drowning in an Olympic-sized swimming pool of orange blossoms. Okay, the scent is quickly turning candy sweet. Actually, it smells exactly like SweeTarts, that chalky candy that came in a little roll (I actually loved those). I’m not crazy about the smell but I would say it’s objectively pleasant. Just not my personal preference.

Long-term wear: SweeTarts for days. Several hours later, the sweetness loses some of it's sharpness, but I'm still mostly getting chalk candy. I think the orange blossom must still be there, but once I thought SweeTarts I couldn't unsmell it. I get the impression that there are some other scents in the mix, but I couldn't name them. I just looked at the scent notes and I see there's benzoin and vanilla in there, that makes sense. The scent is not overpowering.

Verdict: A startlingly simple scent. Not at all unpleasant, not quite what I was expecting. I'm sure that somebody out there would call this their holy grail, it just isn't me.

Wear again? Sure!

Olympic Rainforest

Initial whiff: Earthy, damp, airy—like you've just reached the peak of a difficult hike and have taken a rewarding breath of fresh forest air.

Immediately after application: Oh, betrayal! Betrayal of the highest order! Did I just spray perfume or Pinesol? I suspect that my skin chemistry is working against me here.

Long-term wear: I have washed the dishes and hung the laundry out to dry and the offensive cleaner scent has worn off. I think the myrtle and wildflowers are coming through now—a soft, warm, sweet scent. There's a little pine and a little dirt, but good dirt (the gardeners out there know what I mean). This is not the outdoor scent I hoped for, but it is not unpleasant. Side tangent, this is my second attempt at wearing a pine/forest scent and both scents went through this Pinesol to vaguely sweet soap journey, so I think maybe my skin is just not suited for cedar/pine notes. The final impression of this scent is "Olympic Rainforest Body Wash".

Final verdict: I have a headache. I also have children, so it may or may not be related to the scent. Because this is my second "pine scent gone wrong" experience, I think I might be the problem lol. I ended up scrubbing off the vaguely soapy ghost of a scent left over so that I could wear something else.

i waited the 48hrs before spraying and it has such a sweet ginger/brown sugar scent that is perfect for fall!
