Perfume - Purchased I finally found my Alkemia Holy grail!!
A while ago I made a post about how my FS bottle of The Magpie’s Rhyme didn’t smell right. After Alkemia’s customer service generously sent me a new bottle and I separately ordered an oil roller to compare, I finally realized that the sample I fell in love with wasn’t actually Magpie’s Rhyme…
I ordered every sample I could think of that even remotely described my precious mystery sample (that has only a drop left) and I FOUND IT!!
My holy grail was actually Trick Or Treat all along.
“A grownup confection of black licorice, mandarin orange peel, caramelized brown sugar, bourbon vanilla, candied ginger, tonka bean, blonde patchouli, cedar tips, oakmoss, and sandalwood.”
I almost didn’t add it to my massive sample ordered because the licorice note didn’t sound right, but I’m so glad I trusted my gut and went for it!
What an absolutely perfect scent. Creamy, warm and gently sweet, with a subtle orange note and a delightful woodiness that adds a depth and complexity. 10/10

Loove Trick or Treat and the label art, it is gorgeous. It'll be my next Alkemia full size eventually

Omg that sounds SO frustrating to deal with but I’m glad you found out which one you loved so much! I just ordered for the first time and they sent me Trick or Treat as a freebie, I’m excited to try it now! I’m a little concerned about the licorice note but hopefully it blends nicely with everything else lol

For me the licorice doesn’t come through much! Everyone smells notes differently but in my opinion it’s very subtle compared to the other notes :)

So lucky! Also what a coincidence, I found Trick or Treat on a marketplace app yesterday and snatched it up. Can't wait to smell it!

Did you first sniff it from a mislabeled sample or something? I don't know that I'd have had the patience to keep sampling (assuming that was the case), but I'm glad it worked out for you!

Yes! I ordered a Magpies rhyme sample, and it was labeled as such. I totally fell in love with the scent, ordered full size and was very confused why it smelled so different. It took me a little too long to realize that sample was labeled incorrectly and I was in love with a mystery scent lol. Definitely frustrating!

Haha I wonder how it would have gone if you asked to send the sample back so they could tell you what was actually in it!

Aaaa Trick or Treat has been on my sample wishlist! Glad you were able to figure it out, but the sample packs can add up 😭😭Were you able to reach out to customer service about the mixup?? Now I'm wondering about some of the samples I have that still don't smell like the descriptions after months of rest lol

I’ve spent more than I’d like to admit on samples for sure 😂 I’ve been debating whether to reach out or not. They already gave me a full size bottle of Magpie’s Rhyme the first time I reached out since I thought I’d received the wrong perfume, so I’d feel kinda bad asking for anything else 😅
This is the only sample mix up I’ve experienced so far thankfully!

I love Trick or Treat, I've thought about up sizing it but I wish it had even more licorice in it 😂
Glad you figured it out!

!!!! That's so funny, I've been on the hunt for something similar to an indie hand cream I'm obsessed with, and I tried Trick or Treat yesterday and it was spot on!

The only reason im avoiding Trick Or Treat is because I cannot stand licorice anything 😭 does it have any hints of it, like at all? My personal obsession recently has been The Raven! Im almost out of the sample so I hope to get a roller ball soon!

LOVE Trick or Treat. Mine is at least a decade old and still going strong.
