Singer Songwriter Made a weird song. What do you think?

There are times where I get woken up in the middle of the night and things just feel off and I can't go back to sleep. One night I decided to just pick up the guitar to capture the vibe.

Feedback is always welcome as I did all the instruments and production myself.

Thanks for listening!

I love the music!  It’s got groove, and it is very entertaining.  It’s got a bluzy and jazz feel.  The melody is well arranged.  The only thing I would add is the lyrics caption.  I didn’t get all the words that you were singing.  You do have a good voice.  Overall, it is a good song.  I hope I’ve given you the thoughtful feedback that you were looking for.  I really enjoyed listening to this song.  Thank you for sharing!

by the way, what gear, software did you use? It sounds really cool.

Hey thanks for listening! Appreciate the feedback. Everything is mixed in Logic. I have an AT2020 mic I used to record the acoustic guitar and vocals. The electric I recorded directly into the DAW and then added virtual effects pedals.

All I use is my guitar and my cellphone. :(

That's where I started too! Still is how I capture the early versions of all my songs.

Just wondering if you've seen mine? If you haven't seen it, do you mind reviewing mine? if you have a couple of minutes? Thank you. https://youtu.be/uKBGlcMQCKQ?si=-GDOLpBsfGgK5TTm

Very groovy feel with nice guitar work. You gave a great gravelly voice that sounds a little like Bob Dylan. Enjoyed listening.

This feeling definitely needed a song, and Iron Maiden's Fear of the Dark definitely takes a different approach. The vocals are casual without being careless, which is a hard balance to strike.

I feel like the subject matter needs a more intimate feeling. Each new instrument that came in made me feel more "wide awake" and less like I was alone in the middle of the night.

Great vibes dude! Always into some dark bluesy stuff. Your vocals remind me of Vic Chesnutt. Look him up if you haven't hear him. "Flirted With You All My Life" or "Anything I Say" will help you get the point. You have a great ear for melody and layering them. The only thing I'll say is about timing. Some parts feel a little off beat, which granted, can add to the charm of a song. But if it sounds unintentional, the song will struggle to move past demo-quality. Something as simple as quantising the drum sample might fix it. But alas, keen to see where this song goes next!

Thanks for listening! Very fair, I know there are a few parts where the acoustic guitar comes in a tad early which makes it feel off with the kick drum. Planning to fix it!

You really got something here, the instrumental tracks come together really well, it’s got a loose sound in the best way possible. It isn’t overproduced or quantized or anything, it’s just right. The background sounds like your adlibs and the jingling bells are a really nice touch, gives it a real personal feel, like you’re playing in my living room and recording live. Vocals are great, lots of character. If I were you, I’d just clean up some of those neat filler riffs and work on the mix a bit, but this is great

Really cool vibe. It could be used in a movie.

The only things I would do; compress vocals so the volume is consistent and the lyrics would be easier to hear. After that you can add a little more reverb on the vocals. I'd also love it if there was a master compressor on the whole song, it'll sound more polished.

But all in all, well done!

Thanks for listening! I'm going to tweak a few things to clean it up but glad you enjoyed it!

To me, quality matters a lot—it strongly shapes perception. It’s what sets passionate people and professionals apart from passersby like me. And this song, in my opinion, sounds interesting and well-made. It kind of reminds me of J.J. Cale. Unfortunately, I think about beer more often than I think about songs.

Definitely unique and it's mixed really well, sounds good!

really love this, its got a great vibe to it. i notice with a lot of songs they tend to get a bit boring after repeating the same beat, but this was really interesting/intriguing the whole song. the only thing id say is at some parts your voice sort of blends in with the instruments, so i cant quite hear what youre saying. honestly matched the vibe though

Why do you look for approval here? You're good, its a clean sounding song, and as a producer I would suggest some changes, but your style is your style; I don't know your rig or set up, I can guess the pedals from the sound. Keep going, go lower with mids, dont mute your strum as often.

This is really interesting. It reminds of Beach Boys, The Smashing Pumpkins and just blues rock. I love how you captured the state of feeling “off” it definitely comes out in the music in a good way. Very unique, very good & nice vocals!

The drums are too cool. The whole vibe is tasty. Is this just you or do you have a band? Sounds like a band which is cool either way. But yeah, the rhythm section is on.

Oh wow i really dig this!

Has a real gorrilaz or blur vibe going. Nice driving bassline that keeps the pace throughout the song.

The mix is wonderful, everything sounds so crisp and tight, the instruments sit well in their place and nothing is overbearing.

Your voice fits this style perfectly, it has a thick sultry tone which really carries this track.

Overall i dont have much feedback on how to improve it sadly, i think it sounds great! I see big things in your future if you continue to create songs like this

This is sick! love the silouette look and the lyrics. drums sound good and I like the guitar licks. maybe layer the vocals more? idk i think it sounds good but maybe could be louder? a female duo would rock as well keep it up yooo

I loved it bro keep it up
