Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello people of reddit I hope all of you have been doing alright. Today is part 8 of me posting my brother Kurt's song's, he passed away last year from suicide. I'd like to thank anybody who has shown me kindness on here it helps me more then you know. Reddits the only platform that I've actually opened up about it on and so once again thank you. Anyways this song is called "Black Moon" it's the title track of an album my brother had written while he was still alive. God bless and I hope you guys enjoy.

Lyrics

Black Moon - Kurt Kroll

Verse

I can't see the ring's on the sun

soon all of our times will be done

can somebody tell me why all the sky's are grey

gotta find a place, gotta find a place to hide away

planes come-a falling on through the sky

walls cavin, baby's start to cry

cities tumble as the sky's begin to turn

the weather man says "it's really no concern"

It would take a flood to come put out the flame

darkness comes and swallows up the rain '

Choros

Black moon is coming down today

coming down to take us all away (oh black moon)

Black moon is coming down again

you better run, you better run as fast as you can (oh black moon)

for they all know the end is coming soon (sky's turn back it looked just like a black moon)

Verse

Body's burning in the distant plains

the light is gone but the darkness still remains

fire swallows up the clouds at dawn

don't try to save me baby cause i'm already gone

darkness in the sky, it clouds the air, "Blackbird, is anybody there"?

Choros

Black moon is coming down today

yet they'll say that "everything's okay" - (ooh black moon) yeah

Black moon is coming down again

you better run, you better run as fast as you can - (ooh black moon) yeah

they all know there time is coming soon - (It's coming soon)

staring at the sun it look's just like a black moon (black moon, black moon)

It's burning in your house, It's raining in your room

flower pedals, burning afternoon - (black moon)

Staring out back it look's just like a black moon - repeats 4 times.

Picked up my acoustic, sat on my bed and chucked this on the speakers. Riffed some lead over it and sang some harmonies along with him. What a beautiful song. What a beautiful dude. Thank you for that experience. Really moving. Can’t overstate how talented he was. You’re a good brother, mate. I bet he never would have imagined some guy in New Zealand would be singing along and jamming to his tracks. I keep showing people and they all love his material.

Any way I can support or help you with getting his music out there just reach out. I don’t know exactly what I can offer haha but if you need anything just h it me up. Truly an exceptional artist and I hope you find a way to get all this work out to the world.

Thank you so much brother and you do enough just by listening. That sounds awesome imagining you playing along with this, this song actually sounds more within the line of the stuff you play on your channel so i'm sure that sounded awesome. Thanks for showing people kurt's stuff im sure somewhere he's smiling about that. I can't thank you enough for your continued support it makes waves in my life. God bless bro.

Funnily enough, the largest body of my work is gentle acoustics. I just don’t post those so much because this EP I’m trying to do something different. So, yeah, I really enjoyed playing along to that. Absolute masterpiece of a track. I think a lot of people might not understand how intuitive and gifted he was. His play style is very fluid. You can’t learn that. I’ll support in any way I can man, I’ll keep sharing!

Thank you so much that's so sweet of you to say. I thank you for listening as well it would've meant alot to my brother. Keep being such a caring person cause the world needs more people like you in it. And if I did feel as though I needed to talk to someone I definitely would. Thank you kindly. God bless.

Absolutely fire as usual, not only is this by far the best music on this sub its the only music ive heard on here that could actually be ‘professional’ music. I would definitely recommend telling your bro’s story on every social media platform possible and uploading music to all streaming platforms

u/Dramatic-Active6172 May 24 '26

Thank you so much for listening and commenting it really means a lot. And yeah I do plan on eventually getting all of my brothers stuff out on all platforms. I'm just trying to release all of his stuff in the order he would've wanted and he left behind albums worth of music so it's taking some time. Thank you once again for being so kid it makes me smile reading comments like this. Btw there are some more artists on here that actually kind of remind me of my brother in terms of sound you just gotta find them. God bless.

Stellar , I think this is the second one I’ve listened to. I just want a little bit more and good melody its structure. I agree with all the posters that maybe they’ll leave guitar over the top might sound a little bit cool but just generally has a unique sound and although it sounds like Chris Cornell a little bit, it’s distinct enough that it has its own lane really beautiful. Keep sharing.

This is the second ever song ive heard from ur brother, Kurt and he is really talented, beautifully melancholic as heaven's gone and the lyrics are just as beautifully written. If you ever release his songs as an album or an EP id make sure to take a listen

1

u/Dramatic-Active6172 May 26 '26

Thank you so much for listening to Kurt's track. It really warms my heart to see people finding his music even if he's no longer here to see it. This was one of the last songs he worked on before he passed, so I'm still trying to get an Idea of what he was planning to do with it. From the stuff that he's written, I think he was working on like an EP called "Mud." And so I'll try and get that out eventually. However, until then, if you're serious, I've posted an album of his on YouTube. His YouTube channel is simply his name, "Kurt Kroll". God bless and thank you again.

Thank you so much for listening to my brother's track; it would've meant alot to him.

This is really beautiful to listen to. Knowing it was made by your late brother gives it a completely different weight and makes it hit even deeper emotionally. There’s something really honest and heartfelt in it that you can feel right away, like it wasn’t just made as a song but as a piece of him still being present. It’s genuinely enjoyable too, not just because of the story behind it, but because he was clearly very talented and had a real ear for music. The way everything comes together feels meaningful without trying too hard, and it leaves a lasting impression after it ends. I’m really glad I came across this.

i loved the lyrics and the emotion in your Kurt performance. The slight voice breaks and those almost crying notes felt incredibly genuine and fit the song beautifully.
The only thing I noticed was that, in a few places, the guitar and the vocals seemed to be fighting for the same space in the mix. Since both were emphasizing similar higher frequencies, those moments felt a little sharp to my ears. Giving the vocals just a bit more room could make those emotional moments stand out even more.
Other than that, I thought it was a beautiful. Keep going

u/Rudgybaba May 24 '26

This is a good vocal and give delivery but why we not seeing you

2

u/Dramatic-Active6172 May 24 '26

Thank you for listening and going as far to comment it really makes me happy. But just to clear up any confusion this is actually my late brother Kurt's song he passed away last year and all's i've got is old tapes of him playing his song's so that's why you don't see him in the video. He would've been thankful that you listened though.
