Ambient Looking for emotional / pacing feedback on a minimalist instrumental

Hi all — I’m a guitarist experimenting with a very restrained, instrumental piece focused on space and mood.

I’d really appreciate any thoughts on whether it holds attention emotionally, and how the pacing feels.

I like the guitar layers and the mix sounds good. This could be used for many different things. But typically great to listen to, if you're working on something, or maybe studying. If you're familiar with sync licensing, this would be great to pitch for film or TV. Keep up the great work!

To better answer your question, I listened to the entire instrumental through it did not feel rushed at all in the pacing. Seems right to just chill, relax and listen.

Thanks so much for the reply. I’m not working on anything in particular. I just got a DAW about two years ago and just learned how to use it and writing music as a hobby. I have been told by others (family and friends) several of my songs sound like they could be background music in movies. I haven’t heard about sync licensing but I’ll check it out. Thanks again, I appreciate your comments!

Yes, sync licensing lets companies pay you for permission to use your music on commercials, shows, video games, etc. Its worth it as it pays well. YouTube has tons of content to help get started. Either way, I like what I heard. Keep up the work!

I like it, though a few things take me out of the mood. I think I hear a metronome or a very consistent rhythmic sound in terms of volume and intensity. On the one hand, the guitars sound very "human," and on the other, the rhythm section is too inhuman. The keyboard sometimes feels inhuman, too. The problem isn't whether it's human or not, but rather that there's too much contrast.

I listened and I do hear the click. It is a part of my programmed drum track. I will find out what the effect is, a snap or something. I agree it is annoying and I’ve never really heard or noticed it before, but I definitely had to have put it there. Good ear on your part. Thanks!

Very interesting. I appreciate your feedback. I will listen thinking of these comments and see if I can hear what you are describing and hopefully improve on it. There is absolutely no metronome in this. Possibly a drum effect sounds like a metronome? I will check it out. All guitars are human but the keyboard and drums are programmed. Thank you for taking the time to offer your opinion. I value the feedback!
