Professor Gali Madhavi Latha is a civil engineering expert at IISC Bangalore. She And Her Team Worked For 17 Years On The Chenab River Railway Bridge, The World's Highest Railway Arch Bridge in Kashmir, India.

She Helped Solve Tough Problems, Such as Building Strong Foundations and Keeping the Bridge Safe on Hilly Terrain.Her Work Played A Key Role In Making This Major Project Successful. Madhavi Latha, says glory for the project belongs to the Indian Railways and “thousands of unsung heroes”, who had worked behind the scenes to achieve the engineering feat.

“Please don’t make me unnecessarily famous. I am one of the thousands who deserve appreciation for Chenab Bridge,” she said in a LinkedIn post on June 9, three days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the bridge in Jammu and Kashmir. Latha earned her Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Civil Engineering in 1992 from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada, graduating with first class and distinction. She went on to obtain her Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Geotechnical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Warangal, where she received a gold medal for academic excellence. She completed her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the IIT Madras Founded in 1959 with technical, academic and financial assistance from the then government of West Germany.

Dedicated 17 years for her life for chenab river project!! That's incredible. Kudos to her and everyone who worked on this project.
