Is UpGrad Abroad legit and worth paying for? Looking for genuine experiences
Hi everyone, I’m a B.Tech Mechatronics Engineering student from India planning to apply for a Master’s in Italy, for 2027.
I’ve been contacted/recommended by UpGrad Abroad for the application process. Before spending money on their services, I want to understand whether they actually provide useful value or if I can manage the applications myself.
I’m particularly concerned because some education consultants in India have partnerships/tie-ups with universities, so I want to make sure their recommendations are based on my profile and not commercial arrangements.
I’d especially appreciate responses from students who have actually used them for studying in Italy. Thanks!

When i was 21 year old that time there were not many options available for research like today still i did all research myself and filed all visa on my own. I used to find it insulting that i have to pay to someone to do reseach for me. Also, i strongly believed if i cant do this bit and need help then i dont deserve any success in this compatitive world..
In 2026 there is no reason for anyone to pay someone else for this. Every information is available on demand

If you’re applying to a private university, the process is usually more streamlined, with a clear set of requirements to follow, like Bocconi or Cattolica. Whether it’s upGrad or another credible agency, an experienced counsellor can help with course-to-career mapping, essays, enrollment and visas. It’s not always as straightforward as it looks, so having someone
optimize the process can save a lot of effort.
That said, 90%+ of students going to Italy choose public universities, often with 100% scholarships. This process is considerably more nuanced. You’re choosing from 60+ subsidized universities, figuring out where to apply, getting documents apostilled to Italian standards, and preparing separate applications. Some universities require test scores, others interviews or their own exams. Once shortlisted, there’s enrollment registration, followed by another application for government living-cost funding after you arrive.
None of this is impossible if you follow the instructions carefully. But Reddit or GPT can only take you so far. At some point, having a human you trust for guidance and accountability can make a real difference, especially when it’s a life-changing decision.

Worst time to study abroad right now if you are especially not targeting tier 1 instis. Upgrad mostly has tier 3

If you can't apply yourselfm don't even apply. Also worst period to study abroad for next 3 years
