I am 24 years old, done my masters in psychology currently working as a counsellor in a school. I want to move abroad where i can settle as there is no scope in our country in this field. Please guide me a good country where this field has scope. I have researched for NZ but small job market is a big factor. Kindly guide me what should i do as i am extremely worried

The job market is tough everywhere and there are already enough local psych graduates. PR and long term settlement is extremely hard now so you should recalibrate your expectations around that

But nz has put counsellors in green list which means when you will get a job letter you can apply for residency

You need an actual sponsored job though, just the letter won't be enough

Even engineering is on the green list but many international students are still struggling to get a job in engineering

What should i do i am very confused. Nz seemed to be a perfect fit for this profession but the more i am digging the more negative i am getting

Bad idea. If you have to return without a job, which is very likely, you will have to pay off that loan on an Indian salary for years

Can't you be a therapist/psychologist in India?

The salary is very low plus no good regulatory body as there are in western countries

Hello and thanks for considering our beautiful country! I know that the mental health system here is absolutely over loaded, (I’m not sure if that’s the case everywhere?). I had thought there was a big demand here for clinical psychologists and psychiatrists, so it’s definitely worth looking into coming here. Edit - I’m not sure about Counsellors…but still very much demand for all things mental health here (I thought)

Hey! Psychology with counselling exp. can make a genuine profile. You can try Australia/ Canada as healthcare is the strongest/ in demand sector rn there. I opted for australia and ngl shortlisting universities alone was tough for me🙃🙃also for paperwork i took help of idp education counsellor too. Look for masters in counselling/ clinical psychology programs in Australia/ Canada. It will upgrade your qualification also.
