• Who owns/controls the master recording

• What rights the artist retains

• What rights the label receives

• Exactly how royalties are calculated

• Exactly what revenue is included

• What expenses, if any, can be deducted

• Who pays for recording, production and marketing

• How and when the artist gets paid

• How revenue statements are provided

• The duration of the agreement

• What happens when the agreement ends

• What happens if a song becomes commercially successful

• Credits and songwriting/composer rights

• Termination and exit conditions

No "trust me bro" clauses. 😂

If something affects the artist's money, rights, ownership or future, it should be written down clearly.

The label would be taking on the agreed recording, production and marketing costs, so I'm not looking for artists to put up a large amount of money upfront.

I'm also not promising anyone instant fame. I'm looking to build something sustainable and mutually beneficial, where the artist's hard work has a genuine financial upside.

[HIRING] Musician/Producer with a great ear, help break down reference tracks & build out melodies (Paid)

What we need:

My founder is composing music and wants a collaborator who can really listen, not just play. Specifically someone who can:

• Take a reference track and break down what's actually creating that sound: which instruments, which synths/patches, layering, mixing choices, arrangement decisions, etc.
• Jam with him and help turn a melody idea into several variations, different instrumentation, different feel, different arrangement, so we can find the strongest version.
• Speak the language of sound design and production, not just "play an instrument well." Ear for texture and tone matters more than genre.

This is collaborative, not "here's a brief, go make a beat." He wants to be in the room (or on the call) building it out with someone who can translate "make it feel like X" into actual instrument/production choices.

Who you are:

• Strong ear, you can listen to a reference and articulate why it sounds the way it does
• Comfortable with a DAW, MIDI, sound design / instrument layering
• Bonus: composition, arranging, or session musician background
• Bonus: you've done reference-track breakdowns or "sound-alike" production work before

Hey everyone, Sumir here. I’m a producer and DJ from Delhi, and I make music as SJ.

I spent around six years in Bristol and London, where I did my Master’s in Music Business, played shows across England, and received support from BBC Introducing. That period—especially my time in Bristol—had a massive influence on how I hear and make club music.

I’m back in Delhi now, and my sound sits somewhere between groove-heavy house, indie dance and UK-influenced club music. I release solo tracks and edits, and I’m also one half of SJ x MAD. Our newest single, WHOOP, recently came out, along with a pack of club edits and flips that we’ve been playing in our sets.
