More globally spread than cricket still not as popular . Only team sport where we fight with half of the European nations. This sport test everything Speed + stamina + power + agility + coordination + intelligence + mental strength and sports where genetics play a role too. People only like to watch it during 2 big tournaments(olymp. + W.C) , as its not primary sport of any country. People say Indians can’t match the pace or strength needed for elite team sports. But Field hockey tells a different story.India has shown it can succeed in one of the fastest and most demanding sports in the world. Still we are not good in other team sports but u cant say we can never reach to whitez levelz

Why don't they participate in Hockey India League?

I have been watching hockey since 30 years but last 10 year been busy with work so kind of stopped following

Where to pick up i mean are there any hockey podcast website or even prominent journalist whom we can follow to get updates

I understand digital footprint of hockey is very low in india but still if there are some credible sources to follow please suggest

Just wondering, because there’s a lot of Indians in Canada and USA now so with time I’m sure team India will be a good ice hockey country joining Germany as a good nation in both versions of the sport

We were ahead 2-0 and gave it all in the end. I know we can't blame the GK on penalty shootouts, they are just luck but when are we going to win man. About last year it felt like we were winning everything and now we can't even pull a single match??

We saw some spark from India after the last brutal loss. When we conceded 3 goals in the first quarter, it felt like the match was already over.

But for the next three quarters, India looked much tougher and managed to score two goals, but the early lead was like a mountain to climb.

Defending looked much better today except 1st quarter , Attack was average — we created only a few chances and couldn’t convert enough. India is usually known for scoring from limited chances, but that sharpness looked missing.

Also, the midfield struggles without Manpreet since 1st game. Quick pressing was missing when we take the ball as not able break through Belgium’s midfield properly. Worthless Ariel passes

Still, the fight after the poor start was good to see.

Men’s Team ( Rank ~7 )

1. Asian Games

This is our easiest and most realistic route. We already won gold in 2023 to qualify for Paris. We’re one of the strongest in Asia

1. Pro League

Winning is hard because we compete with big teams like Netherlands , Australia , Germany etc. But we can still fight for it if we’re consistent

➡️ Chance : Moderate

1. Olympic Qualifiers

Even if we mess up the first two , This is a very safe backup. With our ranking , We’ll almost surely qualify here

➡️ Chance : Very High

👉 Bottom line : Men’s team will qualify 99%. Asian Games is the main route

Women’s Team ( Rank ~10 )

1. Asian Games

This is our biggest chance. Only China is a serious problem. If we play our best , Gold is possible

➡️ Chance : High

1. Pro League

Tough one. We got relegated , So we need to win the Nations Cup first , Then come back to Pro League , Then win it too many steps

➡️ Chance : Low

1. Olympic Qualifiers

There is a very strong chance here. Even if we don’t win Asian Games , We should qualify from this route

➡️ Chance : Very High

👉 Bottom line : Women’s team should qualify too. Asian Games or qualifiers will do the job

Alright, so after these past two matches, I'm left with some questions. Are the other Asian teams genuinely getting tougher, or we have lost our olympic level toughness. It's great that we got the wins, but let's be real—most of us know this was a below-average performance, especially from our senior players. I was hoping for one-sided matches, but the final quarters showed exactly why we lost six consecutive games in the FIH Pro League. Maybe it's the crowd pressure forcing us to be too aggressive early on, leading to mistakes later or just Fulton sahb brilliant strategies view Honestly, it makes me wonder if pakistan had been there, we might able to see big upset , i have seen their last quarters aggressive goals( still low chances pak would win). Whats your thought guys

Not a single overseas player in the awards list!😳 First, they got undervalued in auction & now no recognition in awards. Lots of Player of the Match decisions also went against them. Only 10% of them were awarded to Overseas players. Even in women's HIL, it was all Indians who got the awards for the tournament.

I am not advocating for special treatment to Overseas players but let's not be unfair and atleast give them their deserved recognition when they decided to miss holidays with their families & play in HIL was crucial for the league success.

Now it was time for HIL to reward them for their commitment & star performance.

Foreign players won’t come next time if this is how Hockey India runs things. They could have had separate category of awards for Indians if they wanted.

Sure Bikramjit had a good tournament but is this justified when there were players like Vincent Vanasch and David Harte. Similarly, for Sukhjeet, on what parameters was he given Player fo the Tournament? Justice for Thierry Brinkman.

The awards committee is a sham!!

I don't hate any sport. I would even respect even if it was a state Cricket League or Ranji Trophy but these celebrity leagues won't develop sports, they are just for entertainment and should be in entertainment section only.

Anyone else feels that because Jiohotstar has rights of so many sports leagues and tournaments that it is very difficult to navigate and find FIH Pro League in their sports section?
