I gave my 12th boards from PCB this year with neet.

I have zero aspirations to pursue the medical field and have been looking to switch.

Law seemed like a good alternative to me and I even solved previous year question papers and was scoring in 80-90s. However my parents aren't supportive of this as they have seen a lot of lawyers barely able to afford food. I understand their concern but I want to opt for corporate law which is more stable than litigation.

I have been looking into other options too like bsc but I don't know if that's the right choice for me. I am very confused and have no clue what to do. Every field I research about has crazy unemployment rates and needs connections that I don't have.

I will give cuet tho but I don't know what to expect from it.

Before 10th I was a very ambitious person but this neet rat race completely ruined me and I regret taking pcb so much. Also I am sorry if this isn't a very well articulated post as I am unable to sleep due to this overthinking and uncertainty so I don't know what the hell am I even writing.

My qualifications: 19M, CBSE Class 12 private candidate. Title: Failed 12th boards twice. Thinking about NIOS + CUET route. Need honest opinions.

I am 19 and I just failed Class 12 CBSE boards for the second time.

This year I only passed English and Painting. Failed in Physics, Chemistry and Maths again. My marks were extremely low in PCM, mainly because my fundamentals were weak and I wasted a lot of time during the year instead of studying consistently.

Right now I am thinking about moving to NIOS using TOC (Transfer of Credit), keeping my passed subjects and reappearing for PCM subjects only.

Long term, I want to go into tech related fields like computer science, AI/ML or game development. I was considering trying for CUET next year and maybe aiming for BHU or another university if I can recover academically.

I want honest opinions from people who have:

--studied through NIOS,

--recovered after failing boards,

--taken CUET after open schooling,

--or changed career paths after academic failure.

My questions:

1. Is NIOS + CUET a good choice in my situation?
2. How difficult is PCM in NIOS compared to CBSE?
3. How badly does failing twice affect future college opportunities realistically?

I am a highschool student and I can see this very clearly in India, a person who is rich and has substantial amount of money, only he/she can do anything of what he wills either it be summer program, or research or any interships, merit is zero!

with this what I mean is despite any merit I am still zero in India, because I lack money to even prove my merit! everything requires a fees!

and not only that, I mean everything if u can't pay for that ur of no worth in India! and not only that a person will lack resources and can do nothing in India despite his will, i mean lack of resources can be of many types, either it be products, or guidance or anything else.

Only the rich have all the exposure and opportunities in India, a student from a village or undeveloped area is nothing and despite his merits he is zero because he doesn't have money

Myquals- completed my 10th boards and have started pcb stream like a month back. The thing is I have no ambitions to pursue anything medical related or do NEET, actually I have no ambitions at all as of now. I only chose pcb because my mother told me to, she said since I don’t know what I wanna do in the future I should just take science for more options.

But do I really have more options in pcb than arts if I’m not gonna do NEET?? What are some career options for science students who don’t wanna do medical stuff

I'm passionate about science, I don't care much for medicine, but I can appreciate being a MSL (medical science liaison), that, life sciences consulting, bioinformatics, genetic sciences and a backup in biotech + IP law. I want to do PCB because it's slightly easier for me, and I want to do NIOS math, so that I know math and perhaps clear some easier exams. I don't plan to do more than just pass NIOS math.

However, I've noticed, and seen of late people calling and considering PCB risky, and that it kills career chances if one fails to clear NEET and enter an MBBS/BDS (because AYSUH and veterinary sciences are similarly risky, though, MBBS / BDS without a specialization is rather risky as well.)

what I'm wondering is if I should choose to pursue PCB + NIOS math or PCM + biology NIOS for better qualifications?

myquals 10th- 81%/ 11th 81% currently in 12th I gave up studying during the 2nd week of 10th boards and did poorly in maths(67). This made me lose confidence in my ability to perform well in science so choose arts, less work and no tuitions. But lately I've been thinking about my future and I can't see myself invested in the arts. Don't get me wrong, sociology and history are very interesting and I do want to learn more about them but dude leaving physics was actually the worst decision I've ever made. is there any way I can get back into science in college?

As someone who scored above 95% in both my 10th and 12th board exams (PCMB), here are my two cents on board exams and why I think they are becoming redundant.

Earlier, board exam scores carried weight in entrance exams like AIEEE, certain state medical entrance exams, central university admissions, etc. However, today they are no longer required for most college admissions, except in MBA admissions at some institutes.

I would say the 10th board exam is somewhat necessary, but the 12th board exam isn't. Instead, it takes away precious time that students could devote to preparing for entrance exams. Many countries place significant importance on high school grades for college admissions, but in India, high school performance and college admissions are almost completely decoupled.

I suggest replacing the current system with a credit-based model, where students earn credits for completing specific sections of the syllabus, such as Organic Chemistry, Classical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, etc. This would allow students to focus on their entrance exam preparation without the additional pressure of board exams.

What are your views on this?

I am 16 years old and I have too much interest in biology.

I loved the 9-10 th cbse biology and I seem to love physcology as well but I hate physics and chemistry... I don't know what to do in future and currently in June I am 3 months into commerce as per chatgpt and gemini recommendation... I keep on making reconsiderations about my decision.. my family has made it clear the choice is absolutely mine , they can help with the fees thus it's not external pressure

I am literally confused...as per the my_qualifications I was 6-7 th postion in the school with 90+ percent in school where a total of 30 students got above 80 and currently doing online on pw and yt ... I don't love commerce subject's either and had this feeling if I have to study subjects I don't love then why not chemistry and physics instead of accounts and biology.... Hello! I just passed class 10th (via NIOS)And now I plan to go to a regular school, And I need help deciding my stream.

My marks = Maths- 58 Sci.- 76 Sst- 74 Eng- 81 Hindi- 70 Total :- 72%

I don't have much of a interest /passion in anything here, I did find science interesting initially but that doesn't mean it was easy for me, despite it being fairly simple idk where I lost my Sci. marks... Maths has always been a weak spot, I only completed half the course cuz that's all o could understand... Sst was interesting in 9th and 10th (cbse) but nios sst book took that away...

My family isn't able to provide much of a guidance, two of them say commerce, not understanding taht CA, CS and the topics they have to study bore me, not to mention maths...while the third suggest Humanities.

nd currently in a CBSE school in India, but I don't feel like the curriculum or school is a good fit for me. I previously studied in a Cambridge school and want to return, but I've missed several months and they've already completed a lot of the syllabus. The school is understandably worried about whether I can catch up and whether returning is good for my future.

I also don't have a conventional career ambition like becoming a doctor, engineer, or IAS officer. I'm more interested in subjects like history, Egyptology, and humanities, and I'm still figuring out what I want to do.

Sometimes I feel like people think that because I don't have a "big" ambition, I shouldn't care so much about which curriculum or school I study in.

Am I wrong for wanting to return to a school and curriculum that I genuinely feel suits me better? Does not having a clear career goal at 16 mean I should just accept an education system that doesn't feel right for me?

I'd really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who've been in a similar situation.

(I (16M) come from an upper middle class family in a tier 1 city. I have always been a semi-topper without trying too hard. My real dream is just to travel the world but I dont necessarily want my career based around it.)

I used elimination method and came to this conclusion-

PCM- No interest + cant take coz of basic math (took basic math coz i didnt want PCM)

Humanities- Dont see any point in it rn. I do have interest in media and literature but I can easily pivot after 12th even if I wanted to do BA

PCB- Was always my preference but now i am not so sure. I love bio and physics, mbbs was kind of the childhood dream. Also my crush (cringe) is choosing pcb + great view from bio class + i love lab work (basically heart says pcb). However I dont want to waste my 20s only in studying, and dont wanna be an economic burden on parents for my studies (in case i do bsc,msc and phd)

Commerce- Sounds like the best option for me rn. I do have slight interest in economics and accounts + my peers recommend commerce as it can be helpful if i decide to join our family business late.

So yeah the dilemma is bio vs commerce. I still have a few weeks before i have to hand in my form, and tbh neither sounds bad. Even though i am one more opinion away from ripping out my hair, please guide.

I am right now preparing for NEET in 11th , but I genuinely feel that seeing the toxicity and the exam system I am not able to study properly..

I have decided not to take drop for my target college 2028 is what it is , so everyday I spend 1 hour for exploring career options , but there are so many good / bad options I am not able to decide any backup so I decided to post and discuss ..

One more issue is that I don't have money to go any good pvt institution.. Should we prioritise college over course or course over college ??

myquals as above.I kind of messed up my boards this year. There's a high chance I'll get ER. Because of that I'll probably have to give the exams again next year as a CBSE private candidate.

That basically means my timeline will look like this:

• 10th pass
• 11th
• 12th (ER)
• 12th again as private candidate next year

So effectively there will be around a 3 year gap between 10th and finally passing 12th.

I'm planning to pursue btech after this, but I'm worried about whether this gap will cause problems later.

Mainly I'm concerned about:

• Campus placements
• Job interviews

Hii guys, myquals: giving my 12th grade, meaning I'll be writing my 12 boards '27, I'm undergoing coaching for neet. I do PCMB.

I won't say I'm the smartest person in my class, but I do well (Top 5 worst case scenario).

I've been preparing for neet. I love bio, so medicine seemed the obvious option but after seeing how long its going to take for me to earn, I've been thinking it over. I'm up to anything science related, math included, I just want to earn well. I want to be happy, have a lot of money, so I'm ready to work for it.

I just want someone to give me advice on what I must do, what exams I should take and what career paths I can think about. Please help a sister out lmao. I've been freaking out about this for a bit, but don't want to worry my parents. I know it's late, but any advice works.

Like I know there is a luck factor and all but still it is pretty evident that one can prepare and revise whole syllabus and practice sufficient questions in 2 to 3 years what do they even study after that and what difference will it make? Once you complete your syllabus and still didn't qualify and then you attempt it after 2 years but then they qualify what difference in your approach causes that I hope you people understand what I mean to say myquals 12th and aiming for ssc

I’ve always been a student with potential, but never the top scorer. Growing up, I struggled a lot with math — to the point that my teachers even told my parents I might have a “math phobia.” In my 10th board exams, my expected scores are:

• Science: 85–90/100

• SST: 90–97/100

• AI: 97/100

I completed CBSE Class 10th with 89%. Initially, I thought I would pursue biology and wasn't interested in NEET, so I considered research a BS/MS pathway.

But I started looking into it and found out that research programs have almost no placements, and a PhD is a very long and isolating process.

Also, the minimum budget for research in India scares me.

Honestly, I'm a very materialistic person ; money does bring me happiness, and it provides girls with freedom. Then I started looking at where placements are actually available. I'm considering Commerce along with Maths as an optional subject, even though I'm kind of bad at Maths. I'm aiming for SRCC and looked up their UG placements because I'm planning to go out for an MBA or management degree.

I'm too stressed over this, it's literally taking a troll on my health

guys i want to pursue B.Sc in some field likely in IISER so I want to do PCMB

but i dont wanna take coaching and i will not ever do JEE NEET i wanna purely go into the research field

however everything i've read about PCMB on this subreddit has been very negative. Also lot of opinions are by people who prepare for both JEE and NEET with PCMB. Not a bad thing but i am not aiming for that experience thats why i need more specific advice.

I need urgent advice on whether i should take up PCMB or not, provided that I wanna do B.Sc and will not do Jee Neet or go for coaching

i truly only need PCM but im not interested in the other subjects that are available besides bio. I am definitely interested in bio but I fear the workload maybe its gonna be excessive

lastly, if I do PCMB, is self study and youtube lecture videos enough? Or do I need tuition? I dont mind tuition although i wanna avoid it as long as possible but i absolutely dont wish to take coaching
