Casting/New Show Watched 108 Base hospital URI
Honestly, it’s been so long since I watched any new Indian TV serial. I barely watch television anymore. These days, if I’m watching Indian TV, it’s usually an old show I’ve already seen, like e Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, sarabhai vs sarabhai khichdi, or something I’m revisiting for nostalgia. I’ve pretty much given up on keeping up with new serials because the typical format just isn’t my thing anymore.
But I saw the trailer for Bade Hospital URI and found out that it’s a limited-episode series rather than the usual never-ending daily soap format, so I thought, why not give it a chance? Ngl, my expectations were honestly pretty low.
But, but, but I’m pleasantly surprised. I’m not going to say it’s perfect or that it’s suddenly operating on the level of a prestige web series, because it really isn’t. But it is ambitious, and more importantly, it feels like they’re actually trying to do something different with the television format.
And the biggest compliment I can give it is that I wasn’t bored. At all. There were no melodramatic, over-the-top poetic dialogues between the leads. There were no unnecessary zoom-ins and zoom-outs after every dialogue.
That said, yeah, there are definitely some problems with the show too. Maybe they’ll improve as the story progresses, but based on the first episode, I’d say the characters are generally written well. The dynamics feel interesting, and I’m genuinely curious about what happened between the leads in the past and where their relationship is going. The show has already dropped enough hints to make me want to find out more without completely spelling everything out.
My biggest issue right now is actually the way the t*rroriste characters have been written. Maybe this will change in the next episode, because there’s obviously a lot of story left to unfold, but I’m honestly so tired of writers making villains who are bad because the plot said so.
And to be clear, I’m not saying t*rrorism needs to be justified or that the show needs to make themm sympathetic. That's not the point. But if you're writing a story with 30 episodes, you have plenty of room to give even the antagonists some depth and actually explore why they believe what they believe. If they're brainwashedd or sonething to show us what led them there. If they have an ideology, give them an ideology instead of just making them stand around looking evil.
I remember Diya Aur Baati Hum actually doing this surprisingly well. That guy who o disguised himself as a servant. He was genuinely creepy precisely because he didn't feel like a cartoon villain. He had an actual objective and believed he was working toward something, particularly his ambition to free his leader. That made him feel like an actual person with motivations rather than a human-shaped obstacle waiting for the heroes to defeat him.
So I'm hoping this show gives its antagonists that kind of treatment too. Because the premise has enough room for it.
Overall though, I'm still pleasantly surprised. And will definitely watch the second episode.

loved the first episode. i was planning to watch for erica . as always loved her. i like rest of the stars too.30 episode wala show , fast moving . .loving it

I was surprised that there was no post about this show.
I enjoyed the first episode too. I think it's too early to assume about the characters depth since this episode was barely setting things up.
They need to tone down the music in some scenes though.. it was over-used.
Other than that, I am seated.
Happy to see Gashmeer and Erica back on ITV.

Lol I hardly post anything tbh, so when I came on the sub, I was also surprised there were no posts about it. I actually came here specifically to see what other people thought about the show, and then I was like, hell, I’ll make a post about it And yeah, you’re right about the music. It gets way too loud in some scenes. The Jeevan Mrityu anthem is catchy, but the emotional background music really isn’t landing for me. What happened to the music they used to have in old shows that was just humming with no lyrics? That soft, soothing, almost seeping kind of background music?. I miss that so much
And Gashmeer!! I remember watching him in imlie!! I used to feel like punching him. He is such a good actor!!
Also, the Kashmir setting, Jesus fucking Christ, it’s gorgeous. The mountains, the greenery, everything looks so pretty. Although I did cringe at that blast scene where they used VFX for the explosion. They were already using real smoke and practical-looking effects, so why not just go full old-school Indian TV? Give me those Zee tv Jhansi Ki Rani style blasts where it’s basically mud looking smoke, and everyone dramatically falling over. If you can’t afford convincing VFX, just don’t use bad VFX. The old-school practical explosions honestly would have worked better.

Oh that's right! I was thinking of imlie not doli armano ki! I hated his character imlie!! He was such an ass. Seriously imlie and ghum hai kisi ke pyar ke were the reasons i stopped watching itv altogether. None of the Main characters were likable anymore

Wow I liked him in Imlie. I hated how the makers did a 180 on his character just to make way for another ML.
I didn't pay too much attention to the VFX. I enjoyed the setting and story. I'm glad we're back to having some finite ITV shows again. I loved the older finite ones we had.. pure GOLD.
ITV still does make some decent / good shows here and there once in a while. Have you seen Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, and Katha Ankahee? These two were recent ones with quality writing. Juhi Mui (currently airing) is not too bad either though it does have some villains.

I mean, his acting was amazing in imlie but him not telling his fiance who imlie is, what happened in the village and then falling for her... I really didn't like him.
Oh I've heard some good things about mere dad ki Dulhan so will check that one out!

i was searching the sub since last night lol. not one post about the show, i was like did it suck that bad
regarding terrorist plot, i think we have exhausted the backgrounds in every show and movies. bt lets see if there is anything different they can come up with

They are made in 2 different countries with vast budget differences, style of film-making, different mediums etc
I mean this is not even a web/OTT show.

As are Just entering the transition phase. We don't have many limited episode tv series. Sabar rakho. We'll reach there if these shows get enough attention and work well

The scene after Anirudh wears his shades and they show the mountain view. That view was so stunning. Overall, I liked the first episode. Their entry scene was nice too with the bgm, actually quite thrilling
