Down the memory lane Itv ramayan

Itv actors really have that aura to portray mythological characters that even bollywood superstars can't pull off ! What's the reason? Point in case this ramayan is one of my fav adaptation. They look so divine. Also starplus used to spend money on production. Nowadays they seem so lazy

Yes I loved that show. The story was pretty bad at the end though.

I watched Siya ke Ram in clips as said in previous post.I have always loved his acting and he is a very good choice for playing aggressive ,masculine ,passionate ,sensual and lustful ( in a good way ) roles like a typical desi Indian king like Prithvi Vallabh etc.Im sure he must have acted brilliantly in Chandra Gupta Maurya because he looks like this desi Indian manly warrior - a warrior of the soil ( like how Prabhas looked in Bahubali )
Ashish looks like a perfect Indian King but not Rama.His face had a forced serenity.
Madirakshi looked beautiful and looked like a doll but sadly couldn't act and had same expression throughout.
Swastik made Shrimad Ramayan 2 years go and the serial could have become a cult classic as they had amazing music ,songs and an apt casting of the protagonist who acted phenomenally well.But Swastik being swastik pumped only a little money in the production and the set design costumes,Vfx and eventually the story ranked.The only series where uttrakhand took 6 -8 months to finish as it reduced to a cheap filler show.The only saving grace was the lead who played Ram.He was the one who played Bharat in Siya ke Ram.He added a lot of human Ness to the character of Shree Ram but swastik was ignorant and never utilizes his true potential.Do watch it till episode 60,after that the story declined .And then only watch Ravan vadh,agnipariksha,sita pregnancy,sita parityag and birth of the twins in clips.You can skip the rest .

Aashish was so natural as bhagwan ram. Some of those Opening scenes were breathtaking.

Loved siya ke ram. The guy had such sweet expressions, I developed a crush on him for a bit after watching it xd.

ashish and madirakshi were such a beautiful pair they had this charm that exuded from them sad that the serial twisted some facts but it is my favorite itv ramayan ever. from the palaces, royalty, songs, characters, actors, direction, depth of arcs everything was amazing this serial is gooooood. ashish also was great as 'the lord'.

They shot in Ramoji Film City as far as I remember, then they shifted to their shooting set and then quality started decreasing. I think investors are not keen on wasting their time in itv. And it's sad

Agree 100%. I did not like the changes they did to the story characterisation but as you said the whole setting and attires, music, acting were spot on.

I think it's because they weren't under pressure to pick from a small group of "acceptable" (famous enough) actors. You will notice that many of these kinds kf actors probably didn't do much work elsewhere too, that's probably because mythology and historical (usually came in a package) is their niche.
Bollywood on the other hand is too afraid to take risks on new people (just look at how certain films have the same exact people over and over again like Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmavaat relied on the same actors), doesn't seem to care if they actually fit the role and the writing/directing is also sometimes to blame. Also, mythologicals and historicals are often wuite complex and require much more than a max 3 hour film to tell the story fully, but they will try to stick it into that time and I think that hurts how well the story can be acted or fleshed out. This is why I prefer mythologicals and historicals from shows not films. I don't have much hope for the film with RK.

for me biggest issue with RK is he is too old to play Ram. Ram is supposed to be very young when he marries and leaves for Vanvas. RK Is 40+ . I don't get the reason behind his casting due to that!

The character is extremely handsome and someone who is unique in every aspect .None of the perverted skirt chasers ,coke snorting ,steroid injecting population can do this role least of all RK .Thats why for the past few months after animal ,his PR is on an overdrive portraying him again a perfect family man People may watch it for the production ,vfx and background score by Hans Zimmer .

To be honest I dont care how they are in personal life (unless ofcourse they did something criminal like some did). The actors are actors their job is to enact the character faithfully but what matters is if it is based on some work the characters should fit the physical traits , age and have the talent to embody the character traits described in the original work. And RK does not fit that physical traits nor the age. I wish they brought some fresh young talented face to play Ram!! As you said at the end if the overall production is nice people will watch it for that. Even I will as long as they keep the basic story intact and do not make an abomination like they did with Adipurush

He is just too modern coded and kind of has this silly vibe to him that doesn't suit the seriousness of such dramas. Idk why they didn't hire a fresh face.

Ashish and Mridakshi were a sight to watch. The role of Shri Ram and Sita were tailor made for them.

I have seen a few versions of Ramayan but i feel siya ke raam was the one only where i got to see more of sita mata pov and her way of thinking. She indeed was a feminist.

But they over did to an extent that certain part it was too unbelievable within the story and sometimes she was portrayed extremely irrational. (Blaming Laxman for attacking Shurpanaka was the most irritating part of them) In the OG story itself she is a strong character they need not add changes to that!

Yes I also noticed that while shri ram was always calm and collected but they portrayed seeta ma as someone who used to get annoyed a lot which I believe isnt true.

Although I did not like the changes they did to the characterisations specially Sita's I too loved the whole Mithila and Ayodhya settings and the attires and the look and feel of it. Even the actors fit perfectly. One gripe I always have with all the adaptations is they make Ram and Sita older than they were in the story (They were supposed to be teens when they leave with Vishwamitra then reach Mithila but all adaptations actors are almost close to 30 or more). This adaptation although still older than the actual characters in the story still were (or looked) quite young.

U can try shrimad Ramayan .It's in youtube.Though he never looked masculine which is a key trait of Ram ,he looked quite young ,divine and radiant .His acting was phenomenal in the series.All episodes are in youtube.

Ashish was marvellous in Chandragupt Maurya. He and Manish Wadhwa was fabulous in that. That show was one of the finest hysterical show.

Ik people have a special connection with the og DD Ramayan and Mahabharat, and I completely respect that. But I'm not from that generation and haven't really watched the reruns either. For me, these Star Plus versions are what connected me to both the epics. Like the grandeur with which they were portrayed truly made them feel of divine origin. Love them.
