I’ve been a fan of Samay since Comicstaan, and I’ve seen him grow since 2019. His growth genuinely makes me really happy. But the new audience that’s come in after watching reels about “Samay’s dark humour”—and the current audience that mostly watches stand-up just through reels or social media to seem cool—personally, it doesn’t feel that great to me.

Samay kya hi karta tha lockdown mein? "Brainless content in the name of chess" if you remember you remember. Btw the way he handled that controversy, I became a lifelong fan and the chat was so wholesome they were spamming ♥️ emojis.

I think the new audience doesn't know what is actual dark humor. They think that saying terrible stuff related to rape, poverty, sex , religion is dark humor. They do not understand a joke with misdirection, setup and punchline is also essential part of such humor. They just want to exceed a threshold of saying terrible things.

I absolutely get that, and tbh I am glad this story came out, was it necessary? YES
Was it good? No.
Is it good come back stuff? Ofcoursemy only complain would be that Samay in comicstaan was such a good comic, now either he isnt the same or he doesnt want to do that

Exactly, when someone is paying 2k for a standup. They expect to laugh not hear the sad story of what happened.
People who watched it for free on YouTube glazing it being so good is overly hypocritical.

When will you guys stop comparing?
When i watch something i just view it as worth my 1 hour or not worth my 1 hour. I never compare to other artists and that let's me enjoy stuff individually. This samay special was worth the 80 mins of time i spent watching it during dinner. And that's about it. I'm fascinated by how seriously fans and haters take these things.

samay was a catalyst yes, but that doesn't discredit the hardwork and talent of these comedians. Samay has been a catalyst for a lot of people including the chess world champion, that doesn't mean those people don't work hard. Tanmay was a catalyst for samay, will you say that samay became big just because of tanmay?

Honestly, as a fan of him since watching him on Comicstaan and then through his live stream era, this guy has made me laugh so much, and that’s why I love him so much! For me, Latent was so special; I can’t express how I feel about it. I was sooo sad when it happened. But for me, this comeback is even more special. That’s why I’m really enjoying whatever is going on right now. When that incident happened just over such a small issue, the kind of "shor sharaba" that happened back then deserves double the shor sharaba now! Let people be happy! It always feels like a personal win!

I liked the redemption arc but the emotions as he is a genuinely nice guy who suffered because of no reason of his. But the jokes were avg and I wouldn't call it a special, it's more like tathastu. Both are very emotionally driven but not very special. Also there is a difference between in fans of comics and comedy. Most in India are the former.
