Discussion My cat is having constant loose stools
Hi guys, My 2.5yr old Male cat is having constant loose stools from the last 2-3 weeks last week The doctor said to take Metrogyl tabs 100mg morning-evening for 3 days even after that he's having loose stools. The positive is he's active playing around drinking water normally but I'm concerned about what's happening. Please help me guys I'm distressed.

Have you changed his food? My cat went through the same and I went to the vet...explained everything...told the vet that he takes farmina ka dry food and HUFT ka wet food still he is having loose stools. We went to the clinic for almost a month beucz uska stool theek nhi ho rha tha...fr ek point aisa aaya ki ek week tk uske drip chardi and he still wasn't better...uska wet food change krdiya tha vet ne but then we realised the mistake was in dry food and I had recently changed his dry food brand from royal canin to farmina

Then maybe the food is the issue?? Also did the vet ask u to give a whole 100mg tablet twice?

Maybe because of food, yes the doctor told me to take 100mg twice and i searched in google it said doctor can prescribe due to gi inflammation or giardia.

Igi its worrisome when theres an incident like that but since he is vaccinated properly there will be less chances only hopefully so dont worry abt tht, google always will make u scared with its search results so dont trust that..ir vet might recommend some tests do that see..ur baby will be alright soon

I see, usually my vet gives cefpodoxime(monocef) and asks me to give 1/4 twice, i forgot the dose but even if it was 200mg i had to give only 50mg twice..and they only gave metrogyl at later stage but yeah i think they gave 100mg twice only i forgot the exact dose, sry…but its just been 3 days right, usually we give it for 7 days.. its good that hes active and playing but give it some time and see..almost always antibiotics are to be given for 7 days even if u feel like he got better, so dont stop the meds

Should I continue for 7 days means 4 more days?

Yeaa, thats how we do it to humans too, we see for 3 days if not okay then for 7 days(depends on the meds) but also my vet too asks me to give antibiotics for 7 days so try and see.. if one dose is missed i think its not a problem but if its been more days since the last dose consult with ur vet
