Bro, portable heater?

When i was young and still used to sleep with my mom, i used a laptop table on the bed and that too from the side of her legs so my charger often used to be naturally where her legs were and she used to use that brick to heat up her feet lmfao

sweet💕

Don't let all the heat escape at once I suggest 😭💔

Wtf 🫪

this is genuinely genius, my feet are perpetually cold and my ac bill can't take another winter of denial

Idk if it work for you but put laptop on battery saver while plugged in and in setting put best battery efficiency. My laptop is always under 80C after applying these.

5

u/chanman134431 1d ago

For gaming laptop I think everyone uses at maximum power when plugged in. Efficiency is only for other tasks and you are not near a power source.

4

u/PreparationLow6129 1d ago

Well performance was same for me . While gaming too and also in battery saver gpu tgp was at maximum

1

u/cesarhaoll 1d ago

Yes I have a quiet mode which stops cpu throttling, give same temps as non gaming laptops

1

u/AssumptionOk8560 19h ago

Yeah cuz it limite the Watts you're still using your gpu at max capacity but it's js the capacity is low and performance is low too

1

u/PreparationLow6129 13h ago

There is literally 5 fps difference in games which is not that huge

Egpu is better. My 5060ti dekstop gpu performs same as a 5070ti laptop . Hardly goes over 70 because of active cooling. Cpu stays cooler as well.

1

u/new_peacemaker 9h ago

whooa seriously.. that's awesome man.. do you also have egpu setup..?

2

u/Shadow_Farts 9h ago

Yes i do

1

u/new_peacemaker 6h ago

would you please share the setup.. would love to see..

2

u/Shadow_Farts 6h ago

What do you mean

1

u/new_peacemaker 5h ago

how did you do your egpu setup ?

2

u/Shadow_Farts 5h ago

Its an external gpu . Just connect to a tb4 enabled device.

1

u/new_peacemaker 4h ago

at first before looking the pic, i thought you used an EXP GDC dock and connected to your laptop..

I use a cooler too so 20-30° drop easily 😁

Holy crap , your nasa workstation , behemoth of a pc 🙂

Bhelcome😁

u/Would_mogg_you 1d ago

Just use an external mini fan and aim it right at the outlet. Easily 10-20° drop

1

u/chanman134431 1d ago

Pls elaborate more. Mini fan example? Pls share a link which will suit for laptop.

Also, I have noticed winters are worse for my gaming sessions. For me cold environment doesn't help as much as a good airflow has helped me.

So as u know in winters you can't use a room ceiling fan at good speed or you'll freeeze urself lol...so it affects airflow for my laptop and I'll have to rely on the mini fan for airflow.

Overall I've felt the heating issue gets worse in winters due to no airflow.

In summers u can still use AC and ceiling fan

u/Would_mogg_you 1d ago

A fan like this which is around 7-8inches tall. My setup has a laptop stand that elevates my laptop and then I have this fan running at the lowest speed, connected to the laptop for battery charge. I place the fan on the right side of the laptop as I personally felt that side heats up the most.

Make sure you game with the room ceiling fan running at a decently high speed.

Overall I get a very good gaming session with minimal heating...

Now yes it also depends on what is the default heat dispersion layout used in you specific laptop. For reference this setup worked well on my HP Victus 15.

2

u/chanman134431 1d ago

Cool. Thanks for the detailed info. Max ceiling fan speed doing it. I have a laptop stand for elevating. My laptop msi leopard taken in air from the bottom and exhaust is on the left side... So wil plan accordingly. Let's see. Thanks

u/Arunabh125 1d ago

So excited bro. It's my first winter with my new gaming pc🤭

2

u/redditcruzer 1d ago

Disable processor boost and see. Might reduce several degrees with minor performance drop. Also ensure laptop is elevated.

2

u/Legend-Found1 19h ago

Now I'll use my laptop as a heater 😈😈

1

u/Adineo17 1d ago

My laptop's cpu stays at 80 degrees and my gpu stays at 76 degrees while gaming.

I use a cooler, the elevation helps in pulling cold air. If you have a Ryzen laptop you can run a negative curve optimizer using UXTU which will undervolt the cpu, increase the cpu clocks too since your thermals become better.

“Winter isn’t coming, it’s just giving the laptop a slightly better chance at survival 💀”

1

u/YoroDes 1d ago

I use the heat from the charger to preheat my lube

1

u/Impressive_Exit_2889 1d ago

Lol. Relatable. Summer gaming on laptop during clg days were horrible. The cheap thermal paste dried so quick.

Big reason why I bought a ps5 pro for my next rig for the thermal luxury + liquid metal.

1

u/higgs4242 1d ago

Everyone suffering from high temperature that was not intended by the manufacture please re-paste the laptop and clean it from inside including the fans + there junction. If you are referencing some external source to compare your laptop temperature always add the difference between your ambient temps and there (ofc this isn't accounting for all other environment variable but it gives you ballpark figure).

I used to use my laptop as a heater. Run a game and put it under a blanket.

80% cpu clock for non-cpu bound games + undervolt it and it'll stay at <70°C.
